Its well known no US boxer would fight Tszyu so as a result Kostya could never really get a huge pay day, so this fight was a pay off by Ricky for the belts so he could get a fight with Mayweatther who smartly would not fight Tszyu, Kostya dropped the gloves took the hits, gave up his belts and got a retirement pay off.

@joelhartley5108 3 года назад
@@cntrlrb20 you definitely have a point, but I do believe that Kostya was getting to a stage where he was not as willing to be put into deep water like hatton was, this was a war and hatton was the hungry challenger and fought with more urgency especially in the later rounds, in my opinion Hatton’s youth played a part in him being able to take more damage and win the fight
@whokilledjr3719

@@cntrlrb20 perhaps, age is only one factor however, people age differently, genetics and boxing styles also have an impact on when people retire. Roy Jones Jr relied a lot on raw speed and athleticism, amazing in his prime but Speed is one of the first things to go as you get older, hence he exited his prime earlier compared to others. Both fought Kostya and were willing to exchange. Kostya was a great fighter and most fighters were cautious. If opponents tried to box him, his punches were too fast, too accurate and too powerful. He wasn’t used to fighters who would trade and fire back. Kostya was a great champion and Nikita and Tim look like they are following in his footsteps.

Kostya was at the age of 36 and Hatton at the age of 27. Kostya agreed with all terms of Hatton team Weighing before 12 hours, not 72 as usual. Kostya went into battle completely exhausted. English referee, which let hang push and butt heads. All Hatton dirty tricks. In fact, Tszyu sold Hatton his titles. If Kostya will be in his good shape Hatton don t have any chance to win. At the age of 34 Hatton lost for the third time (by knockout) to no name Senchenko (35 years) in Manchester. And nothing helped him...not weighing before 72 hours, not english referee not home arena. In 2009 Packman showed real Hatton boxing level and beaten him in 2 rounds. Hatton has had fantastic endurance and very low boxing skills.

Tszyu ran his stamina out early by "bulking up" for this fight, in my opinion. Same thing happened to Wilder against Fury 3. Then, as the fight went on, as Tszyu always boxed with his mouth open, he was finally caught with a shot that broke his jaw and so he had to quit the fight. Great battle though.
