Thanks for posting this. My mom & I went to the A's games during the Ricky Henderson era and it was incredible to watch Ricky steal 2nd base in person. Such good memories.
Rickey's homerun trot looks like his version of Jeff Leonard's (SF Giants) "one flap down" hr trot or maybe it's the other way around. All I know is that Rickey Henderson is/was the greatest base stealer and best lead off hitter to ever play the game imo.
@@RLSmith-jt8qj Yup! A commentator said Ricky made people do things they did not want to do, put them in a position they did not want to be in! Can't get over how many records he broke!?!? My favorite player since I was 5yrs old lol!!
He had an amazing eye. And when he was on base the pitchers couldn't focus. I'd love to see advanced stats on how much he improved the next hitter due to this.
Its funny.....On the first steal, Harper the catcher has a slight smirk on his face afterwards. As if to say...."Yeah right, good luck throwing him out at 2nd."
Where do you put Rickey? Greatest leadoff hitter ever, no question. I haven't decided but he's somewhere between top 5 and 10 players all-time. I just can't put him ahead of Aaron, Mays, Ruth, Williams and a couple others.
