No one ever seems to mention the arrangement, instrumentation & production. The background track is one of the best I've ever heard. The production on this song is second to none.
Yes, yes, i agree. Especially after your listen to Jon Secada's version (he wrote the song). Both versions are good but the production work in this one stands out.
Meeee tooo!!! I was sitting in Pizza Hut today on lunch with my coworker and it was playing. I could hear it and was singing along with the words but could not remember the name of it and who sings it. I damn near shed a tear as well. I thought I was weird for doing that so thank you for your comment!! ❤
I love the comments on here! When you're a sensitive guy like myself, songs like this hit HARD. Someone commented one of the greatest love songs written and sung. I agree.
I haven't heard this song since it came out. I began singing the "she's my lover, she's my friend" part, looked it up on RU-vid and I stared at my girl and idk I just bursted out crying and I did a 180 and I'm ready to be that man after all we been thru... 14 years together and many more 🙌🙏
Sensitive and empathetic straight man here too! While my straight male friends listen to manly, tough songs. I enjoy boy band songs and love songs like this. My mix CDs are filled with songs like this.
I first heard this song while on a trip to Las Vegas to visit friends. My friend put the album on the stereo and this song came on (it was just before it was released as a single). I instantly fell in love with it. This song is close to perfection, powerful vocals, sharp harmonies, and probably one of the most amazing arrangements I ever heard in my life. I should also mention that I'm a straight man.
During a VERY dark and hurtful time in my life as a teen I would listen to this song and replace 'she' w/ 'He' and it instantly became a comforting and encouraging love song btwn me and God!!! Such a beautiful song!!
My mom had this cd and she would play this song along with all the others but this song in particular stood out to me...I was young and the internet wasn’t what it is now but I never bother to ask what’s the name of the song was. After she dropped us off to my dad, later on that Sunday night, I was watching some award show don’t remember but I was looking at my holographic Pokémon cards and I remember Ricky performing this song and I stopped everything I was doing and watching his whole performance and it instantly reminded me of my mother. Haven’t seen her in over 20 years because she moved to a different city but I’ve gotten in contact with her in recent years and we kept in touch and soon this year, I’ll be visiting her in San Francisco. This was the last song I heard in her car before she moved away so this song will forever be imbedded in my heart. Love you Laura Campos, see you soon mom.
The first half of your comment with the memories of this song as a kid..all the kinds of things you were doing..tootally took me back to being a kid in the late 90s! 😅👏👏 Oh my goodness. I was like..were you a fly on the wall? 😆👌😊 Cuz it totally sounded like things I did. Listening to my mom's cd's before I had a little more of my own taste, and memories of stopping whatever I was doing in my room - to go see what everyone was watching on tv 😅 There's definitely something that stands out a lot in memory, about either seeing classic movies for the first time, or tuning into bigger award shows back then.. Like the first time I realized who Michael Jackson was, was like the American Music Awards, prob'ly being given a lifetime achievement award or somethin to honor a legend n stuff. Anyhow! What a trip! 😅✌
Takes me back to chill summer ‘99 nights chatting on AOL and messing around in photoshop on my laptop. Used to listen to the radio late at night and this song would come on often. Miss those days
I love you Ricky 😍😋 Kiss from Italy.....🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 You are the best man of the world......believe me😍...you are so special, so sweet, you are all😭i cry when listen this song

Co-authored by Robi Rosa, Jon Secada* and George Noriega, this beautiful ballad was Ricky Martin’s follow-up to his breakout smash hit in the USA, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” (1999). Let’s mention that the Puerto Rican artist was primarily a balladeer before he landed on the energetic Latin sound that made him so famous. And most of his material was in Spanish until then. “Vida Loca” and “She’s All I Ever Had” (1999) were both part of his very first English-language album, “Ricky Martin”❗️ This is one of several numbers from a time when Ricky’s heterosexual Latin lover persona made it difficult for him to reveal that he was gay, which he finally did in 2010. Fortunately, he was given overwhelming support by his loyal fans and kept on performing songs like this one in concert. YOU ARE LOVED FOR WHO YOU ARE, ENRIQUE “RICKY” MARTIN MORALES ‼️ 💙🌈💜 * Juan Francisco Secada, a.k.a. Jon Secada, also provided backup vocals on this track.
This is my fave Ricky Martin song alongside Living La Vida Loca!! I feel a touch of sadness while listening to the lyrics. I imagine getting back together w my ex-girlfriend Karen, but ive since moved on w my friends' help. One day soon i shall find a new girlfriend so i could sing this song to her. These lyrics touch me deep. T_T
This is an incredible song. 99-2000 I was married and worked for a company called Penton media in Cleveland Ohio and worked with a girl from Philadelphia Pennsylvania. We clicked like I've never clicked with anyone before. If Ever I was going to have infidelity that would have been it. I did not. Emotionally I did. We spent a lot of time together the connection was incredible. Of course I'm divorced because my ex had affairs LOL and she is happily married to her high school sweetheart with five kids. I don't even think she knew I cared for her the way I did. So great song great memories
Here I am Broken wings Quiet thoughts Unspoken dreams Here I am Alone again I need him now To hold my hand He's all, he's all I ever had He's the air I breathe He's all, he's all I ever had It's the way he makes me feel It's the only thing that's real It's the way he understands He's my lover, he my friend When I look into his eyes It's the way I feel inside Like the man I want to be He's all I ever need So much time So much pain (but) There's one thing That still remains (It's the) The way he cared The love we shared And through it all He's always been there He's all, he's all I ever had In a world so cold, so empty He's all, he's all I ever had It's the way he makes me feel It's the only thing that's real It's the way he understands He's my lover, he's my friend When i look into his eyes It's the way i feel inside Like the man i want to be He's all i ever need He's all, he's all I ever had He's all, he's all i ever had It's the way he makes me feel It's the only thing that's real It's the way he understands He's my lover, he's my friend When i look into his eyes It's the way i feel inside Like the man i want to be He's all i ever need It's the way he makes me feel It's the only thing that's real It's the way he understands He's my lover, he's my friend When i look into his eyes That's the way i feel inside Like the man i want to be He's all i ever need Here I am Sorry, but I just had to do that.
So what if he is gay, most gay artists do some of the most amazing love songs, whether or not they actually write them you can usually tell how genuine they are in their lyrics and music. They don't have to lie to everyone if they can compose amazing material and put their heart and soul into it. There is nothing funny about mocking his sexuality, he loves his partner and their sons they adopted together with a genuine heart and spirit. While its true some people felt his career took a dive when he came out, those who knew him it was always his truth, but with cruel people willing to destroy him for being who he is, he had to make the decision when it was right and safe for him and his family. I think honestly people just need to not care about an artist's personal life and bullying, mocking or trying make fun of them for who they are, unless their in the joke like Donny Osmond for being "White and Nerdy" is a form of personal and professional abuse we all need to move away from and all of us would be better for it.
@@Nicoletta13 There was a show, (one of those "Behind The Music" shows) where he talked about his life, and he mentioned about her. And he said something about his career or popularity being the reason why they broke up. He even said something about his song Vuelve being dedicated to her. People even think this, and some of his other love songs were about their breakup, like Almost A Love Song. (Spanish version of Case Un Bolero, from Vuelve) My mom and I joke about him lying about what he said, and the true reason why they broke up was because he was gay.
