This isn't anything new, a lot of criminals from the valley from Sacramento down to Bakersfield come to Oakland and San Francisco and treat it like it's GTA 5. Meanwhile, the residents get the blame. I'm so sick of this.

This is normal in SF. People get Robbed at Gun Point all the time. Literally, multiple times a day in SF. Majority of them end with the victim giving up their possessions. And then you never hear about it again.

San Francisco has had things going on for a long time with no help and you think this tragedy is somehow off limits? That’s insane.

SF was such a beautiful city when I was a kid, I was there a few years ago and now it's a cross between Walking Dead Live and GTA 5. I didn't even recognize it. I think it's time for the residents to demand change. This incident doesn't surprise me at all.

San francisco isn't the same. It's dirty and dangerous now. Punishments and consequences to crimes in CA are too lenient. The amount of drug use in that city is outrageous. Sad.

I used to say as a Vietnam vet that I was pretty much not scared of anything anymore. Then I found myself in Oakland, CA while attending a conference for work. I was terrified for my life. And this was almost 20 years ago. Can't imagine what it must be like now.

This should be attempted 1st degree charges of some kind. If the kid is coming this far from Tracy it was planned to some degree. I also was driving past Macy's when this happened too and was wondering why there was so much traffic.

My family was there! We parked at the union station because my daughter wanted to buy some shoes at the SF Nike store. I parked at the union square across the way from where he was shot. That was 2 pm. He was shot like around 330pm....there was a band playing music at the union square, my daughter wanted to see cuz a lot of people were dancing....it was a really nice day - lots of police presence - they beefed it up due to all the recent thefts....i felt safe....but obviously there will be people out there that will start trouble....this is probably why they caught the suspect soo quick....crazy i really wanted to see pearsall play, glad he ok, his debut just gonna have to wait...wishing for a quick recovery!

I am happy to hear that this young man is alive. He certainly will not be the same every again. He now knows that you cannot wear your wealth in public in CA or anywhere on the West Coast.

Keep in mind that area has strict gun laws.

Rolex robberies in the Bay Area are nothing new. In 2023, after an Alameda County judge was robbed of his Rolex at gunpoint outside the courthouse in broad daylight, The San Jose Mercury News ran an article stating that "Robberies targeting people wearing Rolex watches have been on the rise in recent years across the Bay Area, due to supply chain issues in 2022 that led to a shortage and increased their value." Juveniles are recruited because they won't face harsh consequences if they're caught. In July 2022, two juveniles and an 18 year old were charged with 2 Rolex robberies, in Danville and Walnut Creek. A gang put them up to it. The 18 year old has a case filed against him in the Contra Costa County Superior Court. Today, the 17 year old that tried to rob Pearsall probably wasn't acting alone -- somebody probably put him up to it.

People get robbed and shot in the city all the time, I find it troubling that the only time we care is when a well known name is involved in the incidents

San Francisco sadly has become an armpit was a beautiful city at one time without getting too much into the politics you can read into this. It’s a shame the kid can carry a gun. Why the hell wasn’t he in the library studying and learning something America in decline! Get well soon, Ricky!!

For those who don't know, which seems like a concerningly large amount of people, there's no way for a 17 year old to legally obtain a firearm. Whoever that firearm is registered to should be held just as accountable as the shooter. This seems to never happen and it blows my mind.

Voting for leniency, against law enforcement, for no punishments, releasing unrepentant criminals quickly, not prosecuting anyone, does have consequences. So who is really at fault besides the criminal that almost took this innocent man’s life and many others….

San Francisco used to be a great city. I was last there presenting at Oracle Open World / Java ONE. Been there many times over the years. One of my favorite places ever. But it was declining then and has been collapsing ever since. Drugs, Crime and Homelessness go together. Defund police et. al. Smash and grab. The shame is that this was orchestrated by the clueless who fail to protect the functional citizens in the name of who knows what. Unfortunately this type of thing is being exported across the US.

The murderer of Johnny Hockey and his brother are out on you tube with his initial hearing. Sean Taylor's murders were also juveniles and shown. Same for many of the horrible juveniles responsible for school shootings. Why is this particular POS criminal being protected and how did he legally have a gun in SF at 17?
