Rico is still touring and, even in his 70s, still rocks the house. I got back stage with him at a recent gig and he's not only amazingly talented, he's an absolute gent too. He's still totally lucid and on the ball. Make a point of seeing this great man playing live -- while you still can.
Ha, ha! Ik had die 'elpee' ook! Heb dit nummer ergens digitaal op een (goed bewaarde) externe hd staan, maar tóch leuk om het ook hier te kunnen vinden! Verreweg het meest 'psychedelische reggae blow-the-horns nummer ever, what a 'drive'! Bedankt voor de upload!
This is one of the tracks from the double reggae album This Is Reegae Music, produced in the late 70ies, it is actually Rico performing as a support act for one of Bob Marley & The Wailers'world tours. I've seen Rico performing several times now and it's always been a tremendous pleasure. You can still see him as a member of Jolls Holland Orchestra, both on BBC television als well as live performances.
@@mariusstrootmann825 I‘ve seen this track as video. Amazing... but never found it again. There is also a tape with the whole show but at a different place.

Long ago I had this tune on tape. Then there was a day when I found a record of this song. Unfortunately I hesitated to buy it. The other day I came back to finally get the record and it was already gone. And as I was only able to remember the cover art and not the title (I lost the tape, too) it seemed like this song was gone forever. That was about ten years ago. And now the song came back to me. Thank you so much for the upload. Goosebumps running down my spine again and again. Much LOve!
Beautiful how different people can have similar memories. On a tape someone brought to a party my parents were having. No titles listed though. Ripped to a file years later, labeled the song 'Rasta Carico’ for the sake of the announcement at the beginning. Heard it on the radio yesterday night. Superb tune!
+InnaSoulSounds Uhm... sh*t I didn't know. He was a great teacher to many children. And the best trombonist ever in Reggae and above. This news.. makes me cry.
I was lucky enough to work with Vin Gordon, he would be up there with the best. Don Drummond also but Rico was great too. True loss but he gave a lot to ska and reggae and was blessed with a good innings.
@clectorc No I have never seen this particular performance anywhere. Is there footage of this? Love to see it! I know there are other versions out there of Dial Africa but not this one... I wish :D
@Probtron! This is an absolute killer sound, i've looked everywhere for it! could you possibly be so kind as to email me the MP3?! Much more than much love!
