It appears that at least ONE of the WWE names with contracts expiring soon is preparing to bid the company farewell and that's Ricochet. Solomonster has news on where things stand and gives his honest thoughts on his reported decision to leave.

I feel for Ricochet. I like him, but I genuinely don't think he'd be a top guy anywhere. In WWE, he's an incredibly unique talent in the ring, but he's just not good enough on the mic to push further up the card. He will NEVER live down the moment Drew totally punked him on the mic His in-ring ability will be valued more in AEW, but he's not unique anymore in that environment. If Ricochet goes to AEW, he'll have 1 hyped-up match with Will Ospreay, 2 or 3 more notable matches, and then he'll be lost in the shuffle At this point, just go with whichever one gives you more money because you're not going to be a main eventer in either promotion

I personally don't think he ever lived down his Saudi match against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title, cutting hopeful promos saying "Why can't it be me?". It was already a foregone conclusion who was going to win but you at least expected Brock to give him some shine and make us believe it was possible...than the match starts and it's Suplex City Bitch and F-5 before Brock's on first plane back home before the show's even over. That was about as definitive a statement you can get in regards to Ricochet's chances of ever being a main event talent.

Whatever ricochet does I hope he's happy. Some people really think Samantha would leave with him, why? Because their married and they have to stay together and work in the same company? Since she's not a wrestler I don't know if she's under contract or not but if she is she may not want to go.

Honestly, it makes no difference for WWE programming if he’s there or not. Sad thing is, I’d say he’s a natural fit for AEW, but he’ll likely get a couple big matches that don’t mean much and then be stuck more or less on the same spot on the card. That roster is also way too stacked for him to really make it bug. Maybe he’d be better off in TNA or something? Who knows. I’m not shitting on the guy. I like his matches. But he just don’t have anything beyond that to truly make it big, from what we’ve seen.

So mishandled OK the indie mindset is a real thing...So a top midcard spot in the biggest company in his profession. Given respectable stories and opportunties. Featured on national TV and on PPV. Held 4 different midcard titles North American, IC , US and tag champion. And was NEVER given a clown gimmick (That matters to black guys like myself) Also he worked safe and wasn't beat to shit or dropped on his head a bunch because of how WWE works...Thats a good thing. He was nowhere near mishandled. HE can't talk and has no character work. That is on him. He is like Shelton Benjamin great talent for the ring but no promo/mic or character skill. Just because they scaled back some spots and he wasn't nor should he have been placed at the top of the card means he was mishandled.

I would like to see him stay independent for a while. He could pop up in AEW have matches with Ospreay, Takeshita, Danielson blah blah blah, participate in the G1. Would love to see him in TNA personally especially with the partnership. He could rejuvenate his career, try things out, new character, more time on the mic like he said he wanted and in a year or 2 he could come back in tear it up.

Unfortunately, Ricochet won’t be missed. He’s obviously got talent, but let’s be real, he was never going to be a top guy in a company that demands a lot more than just being good in the ring. He had no character, no charisma, no mic skills to go along with his in-ring ability. I’m just happy that he gets to leave on his own terms instead of the other option, which was to get future endeavored.

I thought Ricochet's best run was when he was at NXT, he had an incredible match with Pete Dunn that really stuck out to me. On the main roster he came out with a tag team with Alister Black that really wasn't bad but didn't last long. Who knows where he goes, is he even still with Samantha and could HER contract be coming up too? He might not even be going to AEW.

It’s not that ricochet is essential to Wwe, but I don’t want to see him go. He’s one of the few guys if not the only one who can do the things that he do in the ring he goes to AEW there’s a 1000 guys who can do what he does so I don’t see him excelling on AEW. His best move is use AEW has leverage for a better pay day but he’s best move is staying in the Wwe that’s my humble opinion. 6:05

What are you talking about, Solomonster? Of course Ricochet can keep “flying around” into his 40s and even 50s. Maybe even older than that! Just ask Adam Copeland, the Hardys, and Sting! Granted he’ll most likely break bones too (though Sting stayed surprisingly healthy doing unnecessary spots), but he can certainly go “bet on himself” to be stupid at AEW as he gets older.

For his sake, I hope his. Endgame plan is just to use this as an opportunity to maybe go away from WWE a couple years but to come back just a little more season so they will look at him differently. I really hope it’s not because he thinks going to AEW will be the right career move and he will prosper there. I think the best years of AEW for the boys is concerned are over. In the beginning, Tony was handing out paychecks to guys who had never been on television before. Now he’s cutting people because he realizes his roster is way too big to be paying that much for people who aren’t drawing a dime.

As cool as it would be if he went to AEW I think he is an excellent fit for MLW. They have leaned into the Lucha Libre over the last year and the promotion has a great relationship with CMLL. Also, their roster as a whole is criminally underrated.

NJPW or Dragon Gate would be the best places for him. The Japanese fans like Ricochet and he's very popular in New Japan and also Dragon Gate where he had a great run. He needs to head out of the US and rekindle that fire he's long lost since being in WWE. Once he got fed to Logan Paul of all people I knew that is what WWE sees him as. He's a utility guy to put over other guys. That's it, no upward trajectory for him. I figured he would stay cause Samantha is there, but I guess the frustration of being a utility finally caught up to him.

Triple h has failed him once again. No excuses since vince is gone. You build up damien and revamp sammi up. Most of all he is supposedly a triple h guy. How come H can't give a rocket to the main event spot since triple h is his guy????? Even if he is a short term (1 day) champion. To be honest, vince to a better job pushing ricochet than triple h ever did. Burials after burials, thank God he is leaving before they humialate even more. Hopefully he will imrove his mic/promo skills. If he can do it, then he can move up the main event in any promotion. He better stay away from aew. They will treat him like a jobber before this year ends.

It's just hard to get excited about these midcard guys going to AEW. Because he'll have a big program with Osprey and then fade off like so many before him. Andrade, Miro, Black, Murphy, Saraya, Ruby, Claudio, Lee. The only one to really make a difference was Swerve. I mean, ffs. Explain how Tama Tonga is coming off as a bigger deal on Smackdown. Than Jay White has in a year plus. So I'm well and truly over the "_____ is all elite" crap because it means fuck all anymore. I'm not saying he's well used in WWE. But I don't give a fuck about him in AEW either because we've seen this story before. I wish Lucha Underground was still a thing, or NJPW was actually better off.

The issue I have is that wwe never tried to give him their own version of the “Prince Puma” gimmick. Call him King Ricochet and give him a panther/puma style mask and he could’ve been this generations Rey mysterio. Everyone keeps saying he lacked Mic skills but you know who also lacks in mic skills? Rey Mysterio, and don’t get me wrong Rey is a better promo but not always even in his prime, Rey sold on the mask, being the high flyer who could hang with giants and ricochet isn’t that bad of a promo. Of course he’s a mid card tslent but that’s not a bad thing, imo ricochet should’ve debuted with the mask, kept his promo’s limited but get over with his style of wrestling and be featured as a cruiserweight in the main roster because he’s the kinda guy you build a cruiserweight weight division around, then you work him into the IC / US title picture and if he gets better and gets over maybe a world title match or two. I’m not saying he would’ve gotten that far but I could’ve thought of so many more ways to use ricochet on the main roster

Ricochet has given good matches in WWE. But that's where it stops. WWE didn't fully build Ricochet and then making Ricochet lose matches constantly was diminishing Ricochet's thunder and stopped Ricochet getting over with the crowd, the audience and the fans.

People need to stop hatin on AEW I'm glad we have an alternative other than WWE. However I'm sure the wrestlers are happy they have somewhere else to go to in the US that pays the same or more than WWE!

AEW getting Gable would be a much better get than Ricochet imo. Ricochet wasn’t pushed more bc like you said, he hit his ceiling. He never developed as a character n his mic skills were the thing that was appalling, not his booking. He’ll be just another guy in AEW as well, he’ll just be able to have spot fest matches that do nothing.

He just isn’t unique anymore. Not to say he isn’t an incredible talent, but he goes to AEW and I guarantee that he’ll be lost in the shuffle within a month.There’s be some good matches he could have with some guys down there, but after that, what’s left for him? A world title? Don’t make me laugh.

Even if he ends up wrestling for the lower belts in AEW, he will be making at least double the amount of money. Also, AEW puts their belts on the top stars in the company anyway.

Let's see what happen after wes lee loss. If he is not going to be in the nxt title soon, and losing, then wes lee is toast. Dragon lee will be great replacement and fill ricochet shoes.

Dude, if AEW had someone that could do the stories for them, they would be killing WWE. I have not been impressed with either companies storytelling. I do not blame Ricochet. Wwe isnt using him right. I just watch every now and then WTH happen to the Cruiserweight belt they really could have a belt like that for more stoeyline.for the openers

He’s been featured on Tv more since hhh took over so what. He’s still kind of lower midcard guy. I don’t he world champion material but should’ve been Nxt champion and multiple time ic champion.
