Great review. I have the FF9-s model and it's become my go-to point and shoot. I love it.

Hi, I bought this model camera back in 1988/89, I had zenith full manual camera then, was heavy and sluggish to set up for quick shots, so bought Richo ff9 had great reviews at the time and was quick point and shoot for family photos. Excellent photos. They were sturdy so clad to see there still around.

It's good to hear it had great reviews at the time. I didn't know much about it. ...and was impressed with how good it is.

I bought one new, it was quite expensive for a 35mm compact when new. I took many hundreds of great photos with it, only issue was lack of zoom. I replaced mine with my first digital a Fuji 1400Z, a 1.3 mega pixel camera which also took really good photos, which you would never believe were only 1.3

I bought mine new, in 1990. It takes awesome photos. I took my latest film to an award winning photographer to process for me. He was interested in what Camera I used to get such sharp images. He’d not heard of this model but wanted to buy it off me. I wasn’t interested in selling at the time but recently whilst de-cluttering I was tempted to eBay it. Looking at the prices these old Cameras go for I think I’ll hang on to it. It’s miles better than a Cannon Sure Shit which fetches a lot more just because of the brand.

I've learned to love taking pictures with disposable cameras at concerts and festivals, because the workflow is entirely different from the one with my Mamiya 645 Pro. Quick and dirty resulting in a completely different aesthetic. Now I want to "move up" from disposable cameras to a cheap P&S. My main criteria for this are robustness and weather resistance. So: Can the Ricoh be used in the rain? And in extreme cases: Would you say that this camera could survive a moshpit on a rainy festival?

I don't think any old point and shoot camera are fully water proof, other than a few of the Nikon/canon diving cameras. But I'd still risk the Ricoh FF-9. It's tough enough that you should be ok. But try and get one cheap ..so if the worst happens you can simply buy another.

I bought mine in about 1987 for £105 new and it still works as new. Doesn't make that noise though

Hmm. I've never heard of that model. That's interesting that it takes a CRP2 though, that seems pretty big for a pocket point and shoot!

Hi there, I haven’t run film through the camera yet but just wondered if the flash is meant to actually fire without film? It pops up but doesn’t light up if that makes sense. I need to shoot in low light so I just wanted to ask before I waste film!

hey man, i know it’s been awhile since you made this video but i recently got one and even after putting the film in, it still makes the sound you get at min 2:16 so i’m not sure what’s wrong. tried looking around the internet to no avail. tried changing battery and film but still same issue ☹
@dangerpowers123
@dangerpowers123 3 года назад
It is not loading the film ? Ive had this with a few point and shoots. All you can really do if you have ruled out it's not battery issues. Is to try loading the film with it pulled across at different lengths. I had a Nikon F80 recently that refuses to load the Film untill I had it laying exacting right across the tape up spool. Or is it loading it but still not working ?

You used the tri-x 400 even if it doesnt have the DX logo like the guide propose so those that mean you can put any film in it and it will turn out great? If you already try some others without the DX logo..

I’m having a hard time finding film for this camera, where do you find the film?
@dangerpowers123
@dangerpowers123 5 лет назад
eBay mostly. But some websites sell film direct. I'm now buying bulk film too in 100 feet rolls and then making my own 36 exposure rolls of film from it. Which is cheaper.

I've just found one of these in my grandparents house but it's out of battery and I'm sure there will still be film in it, how do I safely take the film out so I can get it developed?
@dangerpowers123
@dangerpowers123 3 года назад
Definitely try and find a battery. As from memory it auto rewinds the film back into the roll once all the shots are fired.

@@dangerpowers123 thank you! I have a battery now but when I hit the shoot button it still goes forward. It doesnt have a shot count does it?

can u turn off the flash on this?
@dangerpowers123
@dangerpowers123 5 лет назад
Well.... The guide is here,. But I think the answer is officially...no. but the flash only comes in when the little flash light pops up form the body ..then it charges up. So if I think the flash is going to kick in I keep my finger over the thing to stop it jumping up. www.butkus.org/chinon/ricoh/ricoh_ff-9s/ricoh_ff-9s.htm

can you make a video about how to put film in it?
@dangerpowers123
@dangerpowers123 5 лет назад
Hi, so I explain in this video about two minutes in how to load film. I didn't physically do it with a real film. But it auto loads. So you open it and drop the film in and drag the film over to the left hand side and it auto loads. It's super easy. Give it a go and it will work for you I'm sure.

I found a commercial for it which says 1988. Sounds about right as I was 16 and this was my first 35mm camera. Before that, I had a disc and 10mm. Loved this one and still have it! I was shooting at the sun today in starbursts 🌟 and none of the point and shoots I have now will make the star shape when pointed at the sun. I sold one at an art show from this camera with the star shape sun by the lake. Thanks for the memories! m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i5eD7adLLqE.html
