Batman said it, anyone in the world would have figured it out, just not him. It wasn't because he was stupid, it was because he trusted her and was attached to her that he was biased towards her innocence. It's called being emotional.
If I was there I wouldn't let riddler kill her, but I would let him scar her in a way that would make her life hell. after all death is gift, when life is a curse. so make her life a curse and deny her a gift.
Bradley Clark people don't realize the victim of circumstance; all it takes is a lie or manipulation to draw the worst out in someone. The video cut a bit early since riddler shed a tear after Batman's riddle.
Definitely, just not scaling up to murder. A more appropriate punishment as the riddler would be to sabotage her projects for the next 15 years as a hobby.
Edward gave Julie his heart and let her in closer than anyone else. He genuinely wanted to use his knowledge to help people and have Julie by his side.
Yeah it's one of the many reasons why I love the Batman universe. Most villains aren't evil just for the heck of it, they all have their reasons and sometimes they are really tragic which makes you like the villains. (I personally have always been a fan of villains. Batman and villains like Joker of Riddler who is my favorite just helped cement that love.)
Mr. Symbiote. I am currently working on a comic and I am trying to make the villains relevant and, you know, giving them REASONS for being villains, and fuck this is hard not to fall into the trap of making them so cliché xD
The one time a young lonely outcasted boy felt love. The one time he let his guard down. The one time he trusted someone.... And they stabbed him in the back. I'm on his side he has a right to be mad
To be fair, Edward does go to extremes. But yes, Bitches In Sheep's Clothing is a ridiculously common problem and Edward had some clearly bad luck with that.
It’s actually quite normal in this case. The riddler wasn’t a bad guy till she hurt him for her own personal reason meaning she is the reason why the riddler hurts people. While he is still the one that hurts them it’s only because of her so it’s right to think she should be punished
"The Batman" Is such an underrated batman show, More people need to know of it's glory. finally making others hold it as equal to Batman: The Animated Series.
There is a reason he takes most people to an asylum instead of a prison. Unfortunately Arkham just happens to be more of a prison now in most modern tellings which kinda defeats the point imho.
@@snikerz5886 I see no problem Because at the same time it feels like they're in jail while also getting treatment so kinda like a lose-lose situation. A punishment you know Or Arkham could be like a mirror to the messed up laws in Gotham, it shows how corrupt politicians and cops do nothing to actually help the patients. How in the end it's pointless because they just end up escaping and nobody does anything to stop it except Batman
In this show's comics, The Riddler is in Arkham and has a love interest in a female security guard. Who regularly brings Riddler's food tray, but one day she doesn't show up for work and it bothers Riddler-- So, he breaks out of Arkham to leave clues for Batman and Robin to rescues her. It turns out Joker kidnapped the guard for an exchange of ransom. Batman defeats Joker and rescues the guard. However, the next day, she quits working at Arkham and Riddler let a groan of a broken heart. The Joker next to his cell, laughing to himself. The show's comic is call "The Batman Strikes!" Don't know which issue it is. This Riddler just wants to be loved and to love.
@@ryankwon8785 That guy is seriously messed up. Like, what kind of lunatic does that? The Joker might as well make Adolf Hitler look like a complete joke.
The show and the show's comic sometime don't make sense. Like, I remember the Everwhere Man still existed in the show's comic even after be being erased from existence in the show. What could have happened behind the sense?
the riddler in this cartoon is amazing, he's just fantastic. he's super boring in the other ones. but in this one he's actually cool, looks cool, and actually has the ability to affect and defeat his foes rather then just spouting riddles all the time doing nothing
Of all the origin stories in The Batman, this one hit the hardest. He really wanted to make the world a better place, but most importantly, he only wanted to be loved and understood.
After seeing this episode I felt good knowing that wherever she goes whenever she was alone she could never feel safe knowing the riddler is coming for her.
"How much money does a good nights sleep cost?" --BatmanForever, think it was the episode with that "Ink" girl (able to turn into a slime-like state at will).
@@andrewdesalvatore7262 wrong, the ink girl is from “batman beyond”, that quote from batman is from “batman the animated series” I don’t remember what’s the episode name but I know it was on the riddler’s debut episode
Never got why Batman would kick the Riddler while he was down by calling him 'champ'. Batman wants the villains to tell him what set them on the path that they are on, so he can help them get better. That never made any sense to me.
It might be more like "moron." As in "you couldn't see who sabotaged you because you're full of yourself and trusted those who worked with you, moron."
Riddler is one of those villains you feel bad for. He suffered aggression and insults from his father, colleagues, he never had a friend... he grew up frustrated and shy, and even arrogant for the way they treated him, but he had a genius that they didn't take advantage of. The same might be used in our reality: *How many good people are aggravated by people who think they are right?*
The Batman did a lot of things different, and most of them well, but this Batman's dynamic with the riddler just stands out as fantastic. He openly refuses to play the Riddler's games, in favor of smashing through his trials, which is something I appreciate in a Riddler story, and we definitely don't see enough of.
I simply loved the Riddler! Here, he had an intriguing backstory! It kind of makes him a sympathetic character like Mr Freeze was. Only, Mr Freeze wasn't sympathetic in this show and was just made a common thug.
This Riddler is still by far my favourite. I love the dark touch + It's Freddy Krueger I also love the Gotham's Riddler even if I was puzzled with him at first.
When Robin looks up at Batman at that little seen after the "he's about to get his butt kicked part" was so cute, you can see how he, like any child young or old, looks up to their parent or guardian or hero. As well as the size difference, adorable!
XD listen when you are making complex tricks, traps, making subbasement hacker dens, and whatever else....you need that degree to make sure you are licensed properly.
I wasn't a fan of the Arkham series Riddler. His backstory in this cartoon will always be my favorite, because it actually makes sense and The Riddler himself isn't whiny and useless. He's actually threatening and cool.
I like the backstories in _The Batman_ (which is this show) and _Gotham_. The one in the Arkham games is just tiresome, with repeated claims of mental superiority and outright dumb riddles e.g. his take on the riddle of the sphinx in _Asylum_.
If only this was the actual origin of the riddler in batman forever instead of the over obsessed fan boy version I mean Jim carrey was fun as the riddler but his was just silly this show actually took elements from batman forever ' riddler and made it better
The Batman was a phenomenal series, and they did the Riddler very well! Wheras hes usually a goofy villian, here hes a very cool villian with a tragic backstory whos actually a good match for Batman.
blazekyn Agreed, they should've kept this look for future series. I never really liked the red hair and glasses look on the current riddler. Also, I think he has a better tragic backstory than the rest of the riddler incarnations.
DarkWitch1999 Eh. I don’t like the costume itself. Looks like a acrobat’s suit that some asshole kid graffitied a question mark on. Though I do enjoy the long hair for some reason.
I'm usually all for BTAS, but this Riddler is so much more interesting along with his origin. Haven't seen much of it but Justice League Action has a pretty good Riddler too
This did for the Riddler what Batman the Animated series did for Mr Freeze, giving him a far superior backstory that adds depth and tragedy to the character.
XD But to do it they made Freeze less sympathetic...he looks awesome and has the dreams of living in an ice kingdom, but I almost wished he still had his wife in mind since he kept the photo strip on the heist. If he had stolen all those diamonds and he came to find her, only for her to be in the midst of her health crisis or in a hospital and we see all that villainy shatter....would have been interesying.
Ricardo Santos Robert Englund Who Was Freddy Krueger In All The Nightmare On Elm Street Movies Provided The Voice Of Edward Nigma AKA Riddler & I Really Like ThaT
Marie Norelus She got greedy. She wanted to work with Gorman so they could make their project a success. But Edward refused to do so because he despised Gorman. So she sabotaged the project so Edward would be disgraced and relieved of his job at the university and she could take control of that project. She said so herself that she knew that Riddler was “A Psychopath, one who would ruin the chance at their project becoming a success”. Batman knew that riddler’s ex-girlfriend was the one that sabotaged the project because Gorman was a business man, not a scientist. He would never have been able to sabotage the project himself. That left only one other person with the know how to sabotage the project, Julie! What a massive, backstabbing, rotten little witch she is!!!!😡😡👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
+Ricardo Santos Actually, quoting Riddler here: "That ship was filled with his - MY - biosensitive disks. Now, they're at the bottom of the bay." She got it to work, it just took her a good hot minute to let tests on humans happen again, probably because of her sabotage.
Correction: what can one who cannot speak in this state never honestly answer yes to. I really hate how simple that riddle seems. People can speak in their sleep, which knocks out honestly, and taking that word out people can say yes to bloody well anything.
But who or what to say that the villain’s idea of right and wrong was just? Perhaps the villain could be self-deluded in their own justified cause that any actions on their part, no matter how villainous, they considered as heroic.
Kinda bummed it sid not include the part where Batman tells Robin to not let the girl free. I wonder if they just left her like that or reported her to the police for her sabotage.
Riddler: One more riddle "What do you get, when you cross, a mentally ill genius, with a girlfriend that abandons him and treats him like trash?" "You get what you fuckin' deserve!"
That Julie girl reminds of Kristen Kringle from Gotham. Red head, worked with Ed. Only difference... Kristen died because Ed chocked her to death accidentally. Oh my, Ed loves a neck🐧
I still don't fully get why Edward's girlfriend betrayed him. She said it was because he was crazy but he wasn't like a psycho super-villain UNTIL he was betrayed. Sure a bit out there and some flaws maybe but he wasn't like Arkham Asylum material. Am I missing something?
She was just greedy and simply did it for profit; she acted as though she sympathized with Edward, but deep down, she just wanted to work with that scumbag.
Batman villain are almost always deformed or mentally disabled, often both. It's a comment trope to make your bad guys seem different but for the Batman villains, it's often a double edged meaning because so often these villains turned to a life of crime because they weren't accepted by society for their divergent appearances or minds. It creates a pretty consist theme in Batman, that if you are different you will almost inevitably become evil not directly because you are different, but because society will reject you. And sadly, no villain has the moral fortitude to continue to be good in order to prove that theme wrong.
That’s the cruelty of revenge it blinds people so bad they can’t or realize that the one person who ruined his/or her life is someone they care about. Nygma loved Julie but she betrayed him and turned into a supervillain all for money if she’s in Arkham Asylum she better watch herself.
And he ended up turning into villainy, because his Lily(Julie) was actually the one who screwed him, not the other way around (Lily cut off her friendship with Severus when he called her a mudblood. Also, Severus was also giving hints that he was following Tom Riddle's footsteps....)
Or the hero if their own story Riddler's been pushed so far ove the edge he dosen't see getting reveng the the traitorous bitch as wrong to him it's justified.
XD True but Riddler is at the end of the day petty. especially if you believe the guy ruined your life? He had him gagged so he could fail his riddle even if he said the answer after all.
One part I wanna point out that wasn't in this compilation: Riddler: "I thought you understood me!" Julie: "I understood that you were a psychopath. One that would ruin any chance of success!" Riddle me this, Julie. What has no weight, can be seen with normal eyes, and if you put it in a heart, it will make someone die on the inside? ... It's a hole, Julie. You feared failure and yet you caused it to fail? You feared his mind, and yet you caused him even more trauma? I hope you're proud of yourself.
