Trucks that I regret not having now… I wish I had my dad’s 1958 F350 stake body… It had a PTO winch on the back, right behind the cab… two boards that stored under the bed would slide out and we would winch big logs and tree stumps onto the bed… It had a 292 V8… When I watch you and your boy driving around from tree job to tree job, it brings me back so many great memories… That’s why I love your channel… I also had another truck that was actually mine… My grandfather gave me his 1960 Willys Jeep pickup truck when I was 14… I learned so much about vehicles working on that truck and I haven’t been without 4 wheel drive ever since… I took the truck back to my grand parents garage where it started life… It had 4:88 gears in the axels so it was fit for driving those country roads around my grandparents house… Eventually, my mother sold her parents house without telling anyone… When I finally did find out, I asked about the truck… She replied, Oh! I forgot it was up there! Well the truck disappeared and the most I can get out of anyone is that a man from the county came and got it… I still have the title but there seems to be no trace of the truck… BTW, I still have the original receipt from when my grandfather bought it…
Goodnight friend. I'm new to your comments, I've been watching you for over a year, I'm getting more and more excited about your videos and your philosophy of life. Your culture has been elemental and added a lot in my life. Health and longevity to you. Let's be kind to each other, as you say, and maybe one day we'll turn a saw together. hug!!!
I had a 79 dodge power wagon that I spent over 5 years restoring, it turned so many heads and I felt like a celebrity sometimes how people would come up at gas stations or wherever and ask to talk pictures or videos of it. Had a built up 360 with a lumpy cam and a 4 barrel edelbrock and it sounded amazing. It was like driving a time machine, and though it killed me to let her go I fell on some hard times here a year or so ago and I had to sell it. A highboy was always on my list as my dad had one when I was young and fell in love with it even though it was an ugly mint green color. Some day when life settles down again I hope to find a highboy to restore and keep. Thanks for all the videos and words of wisdom buddy, I got an old Mac saw that I’m gonna gift to you one day when my wood cutting days are over, you’ll like it!!!
My friend, I had a very long day today, and just got home. As I'm having my late dinner, watching your video, I feel like crisp cool air from British Columbia is being breathed into my lungs with every breath! Riding along with you in Sylvia has lowered my blood pressure and elevated my mood! Thank you for a wonderful end to my day! Love you all...❤️❤️❤️ Lieutenant Bradley
I kept my old '91 hardbody and built a wood stake side bed for it as my wood getter, it gets lots of thumbs up from the old guys, and some young guys that are old guys at heart, take care Billy.
I had a 77 highboy that I loved and that was nicknamed Big Red. It had a 460 motor in it and it could pass everything but a gas station. I remember it had a lot of rust out spots around the fender wells and I kept filling them up with steel wool and bondo . It had twin armstrong power steering which eventually wore me out and my neighbor kept bugging me about selling it to him. He was a carpet layer so I traded carpet for my house for Big Red. There are times I miss the old boy especially when the snow gets three feet deep....that old truck would just plow right through it Buckin!
My parents had a 1986 Chevy 3/4 ton, 4 speed manual, 350, 4x4. I grew up learning how to drive at around 8-9ish on this truck. My parents gave it to my uncle then when I heard he was selling it for $500, it took me some time to save it. I finally had the $500 and went to buy it off him on a Saturday around noon, he said he just sold it that morning. Broke my heart. If I had bought that then, I’d still have that truck today!
Buckin' she's a beautiful truck. I had a 1987 Ford bronco! I loved that thing, I was young and naive at the time and let it slip my grasp. Golly I wish I still had it! The fuel gauge didn't work, the ignition was busted up through the steering column, didn't even need the key to start up haha just had to take the housing off behind the steering wheel and pull the rod going down to the solenoid switch to start it up! Hahaha awe man. I miss it dearly! It even had a sun roof I could take off. I remember one particular time our good buddy craigular stood on the center console stood up sticking his head out of the top! Haha what great times!!
Buck I had a 1963 Chevy pickup three speed on the column six cylinder half ton step side …I built a wooden rack on the back I used to put chains on it to go parking with at the time girl friend now my wife of over forty years .I will never forget that my dad help me fix up this truck .. It was his work truck for a long time and gave it to me..What a great deal for me..Thanks Doug. L
In ‘93 I purchased a cherry 1966 F250 camper special. 2WD, 352 big block, 2 speed automatic transmission. Kick myself for selling it. Low miles, no rust, crazy solid. Always enjoy your videos…. Get the gullet!!
I had a 1974 dodge D100 short wheel base that came with the slant 6 and load flight transmission. Drove it for a couple of years, decided one day to convert it to a V 8 . Took about a week and had to custom fab the exhaust system. It was a northern truck because I found a hockey puck in the rocker panel! I still miss that old rust bucket, just wished that I had the time and money to fix it up.
Hey Bill this Christine husband Eddy castle I try to Catch all your videos I turn 59 tomorrow. I grew up with and axe in my hand . My dad taught us just hold the axe on and angle. It will not stick in the wood. As we got older and better at it it got Easier to flick it. You bring back so much and have showed me so many cool tricks thank you . I am a Ford man to. For your vice in the Metal shop just but 3/4 plywood under it it will not move around. May work
I had a 1972 f250 4 speed manual transmission with a 460. Thing was a beast, 12-15 inches of suspension lift sitting on 44" ground hawgs, lockers front and rear. Man I wish I still had that truck!!! Your 67 is beautiful
Had a blue 86 F150 4x4 300 straight 6 that was unbelievably reliable and easy to work on. Started good in all weather conditions. -40F battery getting cold and weak, stomp the throttle twice, turn the key, if it rolled over 1 1/2 turns it was running. I almost made it to 500,000 miles before the engine went down. I took the whole truck apart to rebuild it but a couple years went by and I never got the chance to spend my money on putting it back together. (I spent a fortune on other vehicles that barely got me to work). When the landlord came knocking because it had become an eyesore sitting in the yard I sent what was left of it to the scrap yard. I still have the seat and a few odd parts but that truck was hard to let go of.
My uncle had Jeep pickups, 4X4, that I learned to drive in. Since then I've had a lot of trucks, mostly 4X4, and wore them out on the Rocky Mountains around here. Ford's from 1960, '62, 64, 65, 66, 75, and 95, a 1972 GMC 3/4 ton, and a 1964 International, to name a few. Hunting and logging all winter long, chained up on all four. It's been a great life, but the times are changing.
Hey dude whats going on. I love your weather. I once owned a 1973 chevy 4X4.l built it from ground up.I wish I still had it .It was bad ass Talk to you later. Thanks for your time.
That sure is a beautiful truck. I sold a 1968 convertible Camaro for the down payment on our house. I can't say I regret that, but I sure do miss that car. My current ride is a 1997 Ford Ranger. Great little truck. She just goes and goes.
Still got my 79 Ford shortbox 4x4. Second truck I ever owned. Had it almost 25 years. Was a daily driver until last year when I bought a newer truck. Still enjoy driving it. Feels like home, hope to drive it for another 25 years. The one I wish I hadn't sold was the 74 Bronco.
I grew old driving square body chevys and back not long ago I had a 73 first year of them it had a stake bed that dumped and I let it go shoulda kep it. Blessings brother
Oh! Love the ‘Sylvia’ 67! (Love the Merc too!) I have owned a 1960 Willys Jeep Pickup, a 1980 Ford F150 4x4, a 1982 Ford Bronco, a 1979 Ford Bronco, a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4… I still own the Ram and the 79 Bronco…
Hey BBR, I am a 77 year old USA Vietnam veteran. I had a 1968 Ranger. It was a tank. Had a 360C.I. engine. Loved it and wish I still had it. Love your videos. Happy New Year. Clint Magnolia Texas USA
That is an awesome truck .... Brian D Hinz.... I have my 95 F-350 4x4 diesel crewcab flatbed now ... I had a 97 years ago , lost it is a head-on with a drunk driver, I really miss THAT truck , it had a plow , tool boxes, an 80 gallon transfer tank , it was a beast ....
We had a '74 Scout. my mom sold it for $100 when I moved out because she was tired of looking at it. I now have a '93 F350 flat bed with the 300 straight six.
My son just rolled he’s pristine rust free 87 Chevy 3/4 ton this morning He had his 10 year old son with him Both walked away without a scratch Truck is a total loss he drove that truck 14 years. We always have drove old trucks your murk drew me to the channel Currently I have an 84 3/4 ton and a matching k5 blazer and an 84 k30 single rear wheel truck On the hunt for a rust free replacment
Morning Buckin ..... It's 05:00 here in the Alps in Switzerland and so good to hear your voice all the way from across the pond. have a good end to the Year and thanks for all your videos and motivation Here's to a great 2022.
Buckin, those older fords really are a gem, grew up around the mid 70s trucks and international pickups too. Kinda like those McCulloughs, you can actually work on them and fix the issues without a ton of sensors. Love your passion for things that helped shape the workin man... Appreciate you Billy Ray. Nice rig you got there
My 1st vehicle was a 74 IH 100 series 4X4. 345, auto, NP 205. Decent truck except I toasted 4 of those IH specific Chrysler 727’s. After I swapped it out for a BW T19 4sp and 12” clutch, all was good except: Dana 44 REAR and the constant battle with poor paint and primer. Dana 44 up Front is fine, but not in the rear for a full size. Rust was a large enemy and so was the EXTREMELY poor heat because of the custom ventilation that was caused by the rust. But I learned very well how to use imagination when it comes to parts!
Grew up learning in a 47 dodge long bed...got stolen off the farm in '95. But am still enjoying my 82 d150, and my 83 Ramcharger Prospector. My only 2 vehicles presently.
Hello sweetheart!. 👋🏼🐻❤️💙❤️💙Love your Truck !. Our son has a Ford ranger 77 camper special. I love that one also . G- man has a 59 Apache 4x4 . We love old trucks too. G-man loves tractors too he has 5 & I have 2 . We love our old stuff. Enjoy that truck 🛻 I love the name Sylvia too!!. Happy new year 🎆🎊🎈 love ❤️ ya Buckin!. God bless y’all 🙏🏽❤️
1978 Plymouth Trail duster , Top Hand! And clean off your wind shield with your snow brush and scraper, be safe out there my friend, love your show, you seem to be a Good Man. It’s like 70 degrees here in South Carolina!
My town has the local dump. They were the only one that would easily accept it. It was stuck over in a corner by nimby towns away from residential areas, and we get a great deal on trash collection because of that saving money for everyone in town.
My old pick-up is my daily driver, 97 Ford ranger 4 cyl/8 spark plugs, manual transmission, w/canopy we call a cap. This subject pulls on my heart strings because my main truck is sitting at a friend's place rusting outdoors. it's getting to the point where I may have to sell it. Don't have a garage and don't really have the money to fix. 1960 GMC that came from a fire department, covered back like a suburban. V6 engine, 2WD. Used to haul band equipment. Have owned it for 40 years. Rust never sleeps.
1962 Ford F100 2wd, 1973 Ford F-150, 1975 Ford F-150 4wd, 1979 Datsun 4wd, 1981 dodge d100 2wd, 1982 Ford F-150 4wd, 1985 Ford F-150 4wd, 2001 Ford Ranger 4wd, 2007 Ford Ranger 4wd, 2013 Ford F-150 4wd. All of them were great trucks, except the dodge. The 1973 had the spreading bed sides….. You’re right…. Had to keep the tailgate closed when I loaded wood in it!
Hey Buckn, Thanks for all of the positivity!! Great truck, I had a couple of friends when I was young that had some late 60’s Ford trucks and we all learned a lot about mechanics and maintenance by owning those old trucks. I had the privilege of owning a 1955 Chevy short bed step side. I bought it from my dads friend when I was graduating 8th grade and it was a basket case! My best friend and I worked on that thing year round and finally had it done years later when I was old enough to get my drivers license. I have so many stories about that experience but I’ve already written too much, maybe some other time. Thanks so much for your inspiration because I’ve been finding it hard to keep going lately but, I do find your positivity and “let’s go” attitude inspiring.
Hey Buckin! I currently have a 1972 F350 Custom. She is an old pulpwood truck my dad bought to help his tree service back in 1995. It worked every day until he retired in 2017. My brother and I bought the Business from my dad and now we own the truck. It has since been retired from everyday use but still runs and drives. Still has a working big stick pulpwood loader too. Very cool old truck......I dont know if i could ever sell her honestly. Dana 60 rear end. 351m engine.....you could pull a house over with this thing in 1st gear. wish i could attach some pics... its a pretty cool old truck.
Had many vehicles in the 15 years I've been driving and regretted selling a few. The one I regret getting rid of the most, was a 1983 gmc Sierra classic c3500. Rust free and straight as an arrow! Bought it in 08 for 2k from a very good friend's dad who had just rebuilt it's 454 and within the 5 years before I bought it, he had it re painted and all new interior put in. One year later, I traded it back to him for a 600k mile rust free but very tired 1990 Chevy c1500! WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! Ended up rebuilding/replacing everything in the drive train, suspension and steering. Still have that truck 12 years and 120k miles later. I do love it, have no intentions of selling it and hope to roll over 1million in it. Also have an 01 z71 4x4 and 2 cars, so the 90 doesn't get very many miles the last few years but rarely sits more than 4-5 days. Absolutely love that hiboy! Got some character but she's a beaut!!
I am extreeeeemely jealous Buckin'.......that is a very nice truck!!!! I had a '71 F-100 sold it to a friend he drove it about 50K and end for ended it 3 or 4 times nobody got killed or maimed. But it destroyed the truck pretty much. Had about 25K on it when I sold it. I am that guy full of regrets......for selling that old pickup. (it was also my grandpa's truck) I have several 62-66 Fords, one runs if it had a battery, got an older '58 F-600 that did run a few years back. Yeah I like old Fords, or just Fords in general, grew up in them still driving them. (I got Ford underwear, lol)
Your pu body style is just like my dad's 1972 F150 sport custom. He was a painting contractor. The truck never died. He finally just got tired of driving it and sold it. It went thru a flood up to the windshield. Sat for several days under water. He got in turned the key. Water shot from the tail pipe and he drove it fir a long time after that. If I could find one I would love to restore it. Anyway love Silvia. Jon from Magnolia Texas.
Better than telly. Thanks so much Buckin. Few vehicles that I regret parting with, but No.1 is 1990 Mini Cooper - Red with White roof. Only had a rotten floor. Just wish I still had it. 😔
Christmas eve I went and drove a 79 3qtr ton 4x4 and it was a first for me. Chevy. 4 speed with granny low. And it was pretty cool. 4x4 didn't work so I didn't buy it but what a cool experience
Thank you for the update on Sylvia. Can't wait to see that big Ole chopper slay some wood. The truck sure is tight, no rattles and tranny don't shake. Man I love it. Great idea on the gussets. Love it Buckin. 🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Absolutely bbr I had a 78 Ford F-150 ranger I wish I never traded for a car. Miss that truck everyday but you live and learn I guess I was a lot younger then miss it now. Over and out
Thank you!!! I have 1983 ford ranger diesel. still have it . Wood haller with tommy lift. Had it 30 year. 2 transmission 3 clutches 4 brake jobs 2 vacuum pumps. Two boy thru hi schools and it still starts when it’s cold out.
I’ve owned a 76, 78, 79 all 4x4 and I miss them. Watching your videos makes me miss them more, but family comes first. Maybe some day I’ll find another one, until then I’ll enjoy watching yours. Keep up the good work.
My dad had a 73 F-250 Ranger Camper Special 2wd with a 390. It was a pulling beast and had multiple engines and transmissions before it went to the junk yard. I miss that truck. Thanks for the review Billy!
Good day to youz all!! Buckin I’ve mentioned it before n I’m gonna again... fluid film and PB Blaster also has a product for under oiling your rig. Myself I can’t stand undercoating unless you’ve properly prepped and primed the surface it’s just bad news. I used to think it was good stuff and I’ve used three or four brands and they’ve all disappointed me. Anyhoo she’s a beaute and couldn’t be in better hands. Looking forward to your next vid. Sounds like a gooder🙂
Had a 78 Chevy heavy half full time 4x4. Toughest truck I ever owned. It was actually a Canadian built truck. Couldn't get the thing stuck. She'd go through mud up to the headlights. Left the log yard one night and was the only truck that didn't need help from the skidder. Wished I still had the old girl. Sold her to a guy on a Friday and he wrecked it the next day.
The old Fords 1967 thru 1972 were great trucks , and you have got a couple of nice ones there Billy. I used to have a 68 f350 Dump truck with a 390 engine 4 barrel Holly carb and an RV cam 4 speed trans it was only 2 wheel drive though and had a 373 ratio rear diff, it ran great and I hauled lots and lots of firewood and coal with it, I owned it for many years, so I know why you like them so much I envy you just a little bit and wish I still owned one.
Hey Buckin, how are you doing brother? Gosh, it's been quite some time since I've had a chance to pop into the comment section and say hello to everyone, I really miss it. This year has gone by so fast, it's unbelievable. That high boy is a very nice truck. I gotta run, please give Mama Buckin and everyone there a big hug for me. Happy New Year to you and the entire Buckin Army. Love and blessings to you all.
I learned to drive in a 61' chevy 1 ton, flatbed dually. 283 sb and a ms 465 4speed. It was my dad's truck and I tried like heck to buy it off my mom after he passed away. No go, and she sold it to a guy for $ 500.00. One day I will find one like it when the time is right.
Since you asked I sold my 69 high boy that was on a 67 chassis to a friends son for $500 then helped him get it going. I year down the road I saw it advertised for $5k. I was none to happy.
BBR, don’t rest your hand like that on your gear shifter while driving. It puts wear on the shift fork and the cluster gear assembly. Continue on and it’ll eventually pop out of gear and other bad things. BTW, looking forward to seeing you in the tree felling job that’s on it’s way to the channel.
Good day Bucking , love your new hi-boy , nice shape. Good idea to get on the box rust as soon as practical . The body shop / garage that you had mrytle done at should be able to fix that rust perforation cheap & proper . Seemed like honest folks bud . Also some oil guard sprayed every 3-5 yrs will protect it from the salt corrosion forever . $100 per application up North here in Ontario ...enjoy that pretty ole gal !
