Sights and sounds of what it's like to be Flavian Prat when he rides Flightline in the historic 2022 Breeders Cup Classic. This JockeyCam view has the audio call from Keeneland track announcer Kurt Becker. What makes this so impressive is that Flavian Prat didn't need any verbal urging from Flightline. Truly a historic moment in horse racing.

What I wouldn't give to go back in time and give a similar camera to Steve Cauthen in the 1978 Belmont Stakes. This (Flightline race) was awesome to to see with this technology. Affirmed v Alydar down the stretch would break the Internet.

@@andrewambriz6784 okay. The way you talked about FL it didn't seem like you knew. The crazy thing about it is that FL's owners knew BEFORE the race that they were retiring him. They said on the interviews that they would decide tomorrow (Sunday) but that was a lie. Wikipedia had FL listed as retired a couple of hours after the race was over.

That was soooooo cool. I've watched all of Flightline's races literally 20 or so times each. Today was the first day I saw this one. Thank you!!!! Very cool to hear the crowd start loud, then quiet as they got further from the grandstand, then louder as they approached the grandstands on the way back! Flightline was at least as good as Secretariat.

@@kennethmalone8104 I watched secretary it's Belmont in real time. He was on steroids, and they almost made him sterile. It took months for his fertility to improve after he was retired because of the steroids. Steroids also cause enlarged hearts. Well Secretariat had the large heart Gene as do many thoroughbreds and even saddlebreds, his was unhealthily large from the steroids. Lance Armstrong who also used steroids suffered the same effect. In 1974, sports illustrated published an article about Secretariat that mentioned the steroid use and Secretariat's fertility problems. "they used to Call Him Sexy" .Steroids were the norm from the '60s until 2008, even on race day. It was a sad chapter in U.S. racing. Secretariat's inconsistencies were no doubt due to the steroid use. Please no I do not blame Secretariat for this, I have always thought of him as a victim of the steroid use and it's poster child. At the keeneland sales in the late seventies, I was appalled at the yearlings because it was obvious when I walked up to the stalls that the yearlings were jacked up on steroids. It may muscle them up and make them look good, but the steroids are very damaging. After Eight Belles tragic death in the 2008 Derby, steroids were banned from 45 days of yearling sales and 30 days of a race. Big Brown was not given steroids before the 2008 Belmont because of the controversy. I told friends that he didn't have a chance of winning without them, and sure enough he ended up being pulled up during the race. Steroids tremendously enhanced race performance, which is why they are now banned.

@@krism2649 sorry you feel this way and I cannot agree. That lady loved that horse to much to jeopardize his health. I am a big fan of Tapit and the fact that Flightline is his son is great for both of them. Each era is going to have their timely hero and that's OK. But until That horse re-write those 3 track records in the same year then anything less will be considered almost as good. I don't take anything from Flightline in fact I was rooting for his brother ( Charge It ) doing this year's triple crown races
@krism2649
@krism2649 Год назад
@@kennethmalone8104 It isn't my opinion. Sports illustrated would have been sued for libel if their article in 1974 wasn't true. Even dog show people were giving steroids to their show dogs in the 70s. It was the norm. Sorry you can't see the incredibly obvious just from looking at Secretariat. It was sad what was done to him and others. It took seven years for Genuine Risk to get in foal and Winning Colors was the "studdiest" horse on the farm after her retirement, according to a farm employee. A friend worked at TB facilities in KY, FL, and Canada in the 70s. Steroids were the norm, and caused much harm. Truly a dark era in racing. The records set during the steroid decades are falsely inflated. This is why Lance Armstrong's Your de France "wins" were taken away. Steroids were legal in horse racing until 2008, so the "records" will stay on the books, but the performances were enhanced by the steroids and therefore false compared to horses racing clean

Once he's passed by Flightline in the stretch, LIG is gonna fade out of the money." --- Boy did Randy hit the nail on the head.
