In this video, we show an Indian Challenger rider mastering the Ride Like a Pro course. While the Challenger is not quite as nimble as Harley-Davidson touring models, it's really the rider that makes the difference, as you'll see in this video.

The rider on the White Road King was a younger rider and I told him at our class how proud I was of him and his riding skills. This rider drove 15 hours to attend our class, that's amazing. He proves what practice and training do for our skills and confidence. He also won the trophy for the "BEST" rider in the class. Well done, David!! The problem with the challenger is there's a significant delay in throttle response. My friend, very experienced rider, bought one, and said it's dangerous compared to his 3 Harley Davidsons. He got the computer reprogrammed by an independent shop, and said the bike is now great. Jayman...

make sure it's not in the Rain Mode, that would explain slower response. Otherwise keep it in Standard, like I do and have no issues with the response, or Sport mode if that's not enough.

Love your videos, but could you explain what you mean by levering a tire off the ground? Also have you noticed a difference between low speed handling with cable vs hydraulic clutches? I assume that the friction zone is different for them. My 260mm rear tire has been a factor in my low speed handling.
@motorman857
@motorman857 3 года назад
If you lean a cruiser bike too far, hard parts will hit the ground and the tires will leave the ground as you can see in this video. Hydraulic clutches tend to grab at the end of their travel and can't be adjusted. Cable clutches can be adjusted.

Jerry, I had my wife riding on the back and missed my turn and had to do a U-turn. I said honey lean with me and zipped around quickly but never used my back break. We were on a country road so not much room, but I don't think the back break is necessary for a simple U-turn. I can see for competition and multiple turns maybe. What do you think, can someone raise their skill level to forgo the back break, and do you ever teach that? I ride a Kawasaki Voyager. Thank you for the videos! A lot of stuff I've never thought about.
@motorman857
@motorman857 Месяц назад
With the rear brake and the clutch/throttle you have more control. When practicing exercises, once you can perform them with the rear brake, you should try with no brake. On the street always use the rear brake since dropping the bike can cause a car to run you over.

@@russellabernathy3241 one of the main reasons people are flocking to Indian is because of Harley Davidsons unreliability. Harley Davidson consistently polls at or near the bottom of consumer reliability surveys. BTW, go take a look at an Indian Springfield motorcycle and tell me that's an ugly bike. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you'd be hard pressed to call that motorcycle anything but a work of art.
