James Best is great in this. He had a 60yr. career with many movies and TV creds, and was even a 'professor'. He was also first cousin to the Everly Brothers. (wiki)

One of the 1st movies I saw as a kid when we came back to USA from Germany in 1959 I'll be riding those trails in October, at Lone Pine, CA where this was filmed. Pat Wayne, Darby Hinton, and other Actor's at the Film Fest there from the 10th-13th October. Gonna be a hoot to meet them again. 👍👍 5🤠 Hat tips & 10🌟
A young James Coburn and Lee van Cleef starting their movie careers here teaming with a seasoned, established Randolph Scott, what a combination!Randolph Scott always performed authentic cowboy roles in his movies and he was a true gentleman.I loved this story as it played out in this wide open sky country of the American west.Great acting. Thanks for screening.❤
Lee Van Cleef had major roles as far back as 1952 in "Kansas city confidential". In westerns he had many significant starring roles before 1959 as well. In 1958 he played one of the criminals in The Bravados one of the best westerns of all time. He started in 1952 and by 1959 he had co-starred in 5 films and had smaller roles in like 20 films, he was a veteran, a recognizable face but not the star he would become in the 1960s James Coburn was actually starting out and so was Robert Pernell.
@@lrn_news9171yes while you are correct I loved watching mr bad guy Lee but tbh I can’t handle those spaghetti /gringo westerns he seemed to like doing don’t know why he kept going there but he did n I just couldn’t watch them I enjoyed watching when he went for Hollywood,,.

I like the scenery out west. Those are some rugged strange looking rocks and mountains. Nice to see Pernell Roberts from Bonanza in this western. He's a natural actor for this genre.
@barrywainwright3391....Those strange looking rocks are due to a lot of wind and water erosion. You can see in the background at 7:57 where the sedimentary rocks have been uplifted and tilted almost 90 degrees from horizontal from plate tectonic activity
My favorite actors Randolph Scott, James Coburn and Lee van Cleef in films that are not same produced with all nature background. I choose movies for the background.

They always dress the good, pretty, wholesome, and usually buxom, women in form fitting, and/or, low cut outfits. I wonder why. Could it be manipulation of the men in the audience? Nah, never. This is still a good, old western, with a solid cast, with classic bad guy actors, kind of early in their careers. I guess Jack Elam, with them, would have been asking too much.
Wow. Pernell Roberts, one of the all time favorites...great actor. Scott played westerns okay & mostly the films seem like authentic westerns...not all that silly b. s.
You must be a youngster. Van Cleef is famous for those mean-lookin' beady eyes and douchey tough-guy stash, and was in two of the Dollar movies with Clint. Coburn has a big toothy grin and starred in the Flint spy spoofs. 🙂
Bonanza started in 1959. Pernell Roberts left the show once he figured out he was the fourth most popular character out of the 4 Cartwrights. To his credit he found his niche in the medical field.
