Influential British shoegaze band Ride broke up in 1996 and have recently announced their reunion -- a special performance at Coachella. Watch / Listen to the full session here: www.kcrw.com/mu...
Joseph Roan they created a distorted fuzz not many people could create at the time, but the drumming certainly enhanced the sound. On this vid Loz is simply Out performing the rest of the band.
Man, you have no idea the emotion I get listening to this song. I was 18 when it came out, and it brought out all my teenage angst. This and Leave them All Behind are my two favorite songs of all time. (Tempos that build and build into a mad frenzy!) I used to lie down in the dark, late at night, and listen to it cranked to the max. At the time in my life where I felt the wildest, free-est, strongest, and craziest, this song filled me with raw emotion. There was a particular period of six weeks when I used to walk along a rugged beach by myself each night at sunset and play this album over and over, and to this day when I hear it, it takes me back to that time and I can feel all those crazy emotions all over again. So Andy, Mark, Steve, and Loz, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the part you played in that special time in my life. I owe you big time!!!!
This is where rock and rave were at their closest, looped melody, monotonous etc. superb performance, glad to see them together again. my 15 old daughter -well, i don't know, not too bad.
I love ride, always have done. They sound ace again. But as many have already said on here - Loz is on another level! Why the hell is he not doing more musically? He's way up there with the best drummers I've seen.
Love this footage - so clear to see the dynamic. Psychadelic, hypnotically sublime....sounds so damn good! Loz drumming insanely good. Andy's solos very byrdsie (8 miles high). Warfield gig was amazing!
So good to see Ride back in action, I was at the same college in Banbury they were at when they got signed by Creation, it caused quite a buzz at the time and I have followed them ever since, Loz drumming on this song is amazing and how the hell does Steve on Bass not look any older? I think he has led rather a quiet life since retiring from the band, I think I saw him working as a furniture shop manager! rock and roll :-) I saw them so many times back in the early 90s and still have lots of bootlegs from the day, I really hope that they bring out some new material.
this is one of the absolutely noisiest songs i know that doesn't sound like a jumbled mess, and that is a fucking fantastic thing. its incredibly hard to not just lose yourself in the music, which makes it even harder to try and figure out what they are doing lmao
Saw them in Oxford playing the town hall I think it was the first time the town hall opened our doors for a band they played so loud it was the last time anybody played absolutely fucking epic. I think that was about 91 ish .. epic band
I'll be honest, I've loved Ride since Chelsea Girl and Drive Blind, but I'm only here to watch Loz drumming. Still love Ride, but came here for the Loz.
They always used to play it quieter like this live. The distortion and feedback on the original recording was all added by the producer. Though I'm definite that when I saw them live in 90-91, Mark played a second Ricky-12 live back then, so part of the problem with the sound here is he's trying to play the song on a shitty 6-string with single coils. Andy's also playing louder and noisier on this than he used to live, I guess that's what happens when you've spent time with Oasis.
It’s so weird to think these are real humans when they changed our teen girl lives so much. I don’t want to think of them going to the bathroom if spoils the illusion
