@@Delta_1919-9 Lane splitting is basically illegal in all states except California. There are states that don't mention it being legal or illegal, so it depends on the cop to bust you for it. So only California is where its officially legal. But overall its pretty much a dumb move and really not worth the risk imo as you can get seriously and easily hurt without much of any legal recourse for it (an insurance company isn't going to cover you doing this as they are going to see you as being negligent).

It's just that HPD do not care if you on any part of the island except for Waikiki where tourists do dumb stuff like cross the street looking down at their cell phones (this is a citation), crossing with less than 5 seconds left on the timer (this is a citation), etc. Outside of that... You can practically do what you want. But if you see a motorcycle officer, RIP. Mopeds are the ultimate lawless riders here though. They on the interstates going the opposite direction of traffic. Parked inside Target stores at the front door or wedged between 2 cars with parking meters. Riding down sidewalks, boat docks. Wheelies for miles without anyone caring. Split lane, lane filtering, bike lane. Bore out the engine and you doing 80 mph on a sub 150 lb vehicle. You think someone would care? Like motorcycles, only in Waikiki bro.
