I started playing descenders at such a chill point of my life so whenever i hop on that game it feels so nice, like i can just sit back, turn on music and enjoy the game. I know that game will be nostalgic for me in the future

I loved the first person mode on Riders Republic. I would love to see first person mode to be active also whilst doing tricks. Doing straight airs feels so immersive

Riders Republic animations and enviroment are fantastic. But, when we can enjoy a mtb game with realistic trails (narrow, rocky and natural) and not overexagerated physics?

I feel like they are just two different games all together. In my opinion the most satisfying way to play Descender is to get as smooth and clean runs as possible rather than going for crazy tricks like in RR

I feel bad for the people who take this as a serious graphics comparison

The RR open world is amazing, but a few things I'd say about gameplay: -flow should be more important than it is to successfully keep momentum on a line -high speed sensation is underwhelming -landing tricks should be a bit harder

You can't compare them because Riders Republic have an extremely high budget, where Descenders is independant. Then for the graphics, don't forget Descenders is procedural so you will never ride the same track :) Anyway, Riders Republic looks incredibly fun and I can't wait the release ! :D

riders republic doesnt have as good psychics as descenders. in descenders the smallest mishap will cause you to fall off your bike, in riders republic its a little more arcady, you can hit a tree and still be on your bike. even with manual landing on you still snap to rails when grinding. descenders feels a little more realistic but visually riders republic looks great.

I want a game like Rider Republic/Steep/The Crew 2 but with a focus on Dirt Bikes and ATVs. I would love to just explore a massive open world with friends on dirt bikes with trails and stuff.

I've never played any of these, but I have to say, that flow and overal sense of speed is much better in Descenders, altough Riders Republic's visual presentation and content cannot be unseen, which makes it more appieling... although its flow looks somewhat twitchy.

Descenders physics lets you do things to a bike, that no game has ever let me in decades of gaming. Its fiddly and quirky but man its fun! Its only when i slowed down, that i realised just how much flow this game has, especially on the flat.

Biggest difference IMO : Descenders is a game you own a copy of, and Riders Republic a service owned by Ubisoft that you paid to access to. Witch means you can progress through Descenders offline, but you can't with RR, if your connection or Ubisoft servers are down your experience is pretty limited. Also when Descenders support will be ended you'll still be able to enjoy its content. RR ? Not so much.

They need to bring back Downhill Domination

It’s quite simple really, if you want a game with more technicality then go for descenders, though just remember that descenders won’t go anywhere for a game like that due to being created by a small independent company. Yeah RR has some little problems here and there, but every game does. In my opinion, Ubisoft has finally done something good for once and I can’t wait to see where Riders Republic goes.

I can't wait to play it, I just don't like the fact no one seems to fall off on bad landings. They just ride away, you land bad in descenders your crashing. But their different and I understand that, but hell a hard/bad landing in Dave Mirra BMX you were crashing and that was arcade as hell.

I'm all in on Descenders. RR just seems to cartooney for me. I can't get over how awkwardly big the character looks on the bike.

Decenders in my opinion is a better game. Squid games has a much smaller budget and yet has managed to create a game people can play without getting tired of. Out for a few years now and we continue to see updates, new maps, new outfits... Hopefully we see VR come to Decenders in the next year OR so and they continue to update the game. I only say this because decenders is a game like skat8 3 where they seem to have gotten the physics just right. Theres no need for a decenders 2 for at least like 5 more years! haha

Hopefully they add faster bikes in the future/at launch, as it looks a bit slow. GTA Online had to nerf cars in game when adding new ones, as they couldn't just add faster cars since the map wasn't made for cars above max speed already. So I could see Ubi leaving room in their max speed cap for faster DLC, ect.

Descenders all the way, because you don't have to grind for better stats. Descenders is all about skill and not luck. When you play bikeout in descenders you will find alot of people that don't know how to bunnyhop further of the ramp and i find that hilarious. Performing stunts and landing them clean gives you a satisfying feeling especially the risky one's. Speedrunning through the steepest tracks are adrenaline moments. The feeling of a flawless run makes you feel like the best rider in the world.

One thing I like about descenders is the very high field of view which allows me to see all around me.

I wish they let you customize the trick button in descenders

Descenders is better. No matter how fast you go in RR, there's no real feeling of speed, so there's less adrenaline = less fun IMHO

if any of the comments played the beta of riders republic they would realise descenders isnt going anywhere. The physics and controls are alot better in descenders

All I play is descenders but the down hill animation of your gear blowing in the wind is cool in RR. Descenders looks smoother but RR looks more alive?

RR for those who don't care for high skill ceiling since it's hard to bail and speed is a bit on the lower side Descenders for those who want to do the most impressive stunts in a procedurally generated setup or custom maps (real world imitation parks) At the end of the day, they are very different games. One is for the extreme sport casual who just wants to do whatever without having to learn too many mechanics; while the other is a mechanically intensive mtb experience where it's super rewarding but difficult to pull of the hardest of tricks. If RR had given people more control over their bikes and gave it a bit more realistic animations and physics, no doubt it woulda killed descenders.

One thing to remember is there two different games with different budgets

no contest. Riders Republic has better, character, animations, environment, TEXTURES, customizations, community, multiplayer, gear, and settings I would say better physics too. Plus you have the ability to ride tech which I never imagined a mtb game could do. Comparing the two is like comparing a game from PS2 to PS5. I cannot wait for RR to release.

RR is one of those games that was sort of rushed before it's released. They're probably working on it's 2nd installment, which I am sure will be 10 times better and more realistic anatomically 👍

Descenders it’s my choice. Fun and on sale on the PSN up until Jan 20th 2022. And most importantly, as an indie game it isn’t made by Ubisoft, EA or 2K.

You guys need to understand, that RR isn‘t even made to have good physics. Ubisoft itself made an Joke about the physics on TikTok. Its like saying Minecraft sucks, bc it has bad Physics.

I actually bought these around the same time. I tried to get into Riders Republic but the mountain biking controls and response are 100% more fun in Descenders and the music is better too. There are a shitload of free ride parks along side 2 career modes. Descenders is just a better Mtb. game. R.R. tries too hard to be many things while Descenders focuses on fun arcade mountain biking. The horrid numb dead controls in R.R. are enough to drive anyone insane

Idk if its only that feeling for me but the animations in Descenders feel more smother like 200fps and in riders republic like 20fps

The fact that the only other good biking game you can compare is descenders shows there isn’t any game like RR and that shows how this game is one of a kind. Btw, I like all biking games, just saying that this game RR is nothing I’ve ever seen before and therefore it’s my opinion that I like it.

They are very different games, descenders is more about the sense of speed and danger, while riders is a bit of an arcade style with some realistic touches, I do like how descenders controls better especially when it comes to narrow tight tracks descenders handling is way better, rr brakes are slippery and turning radius kinda blows, but I think it’s just because physics on wood is wrong in rr it’s like all the wood is soaked or something, also rr speedometer is not correct and the game prevents you from gaining tremendous speed like you can in descenders, no matter how steep you are it feels like rr bikes have top speeds that you can’t break, plus no matter how smoothly you might land depending on the height of the drop you will always bail in rr, among other things I wish they would tweak

I think Descenders I'd good if you like very speedy downhill action and RR for the graphics and tricks

RR is better in every way except the transitions between animations. Descenders is smooth while RR feels choppy.

RR at 4k Ultra is just gorgeous. If you like playing mine craft mountain biking then Descenders is for you.

I downloaded and played the week trial of RR. It was okay. The controls were counter intuative to the Tony Hawks pro skater muscle memory thats been programmed into my head for years so I found it a but frustrating. The button mapping was terrible for me. I think Right trigger doubles as both fliping and accelerate depending on context and it messed me up every time. Also you couldnt do a vert jump on a bike out of a bowl and land back in the bowl. (like pool skating) and that's just counter intuative for me. I do appreciate what RR was trying to do. Basically the game was Forza Horizon without the cars, but the controls werent responsive enough and I felt like a was fighting the game the entire time. I uninstalled the game after 2 days. I'm going back to descenders now to see if I connect with that more.
