In this video we talk about rides to skip at Universal Orlando 2021. If you are trying to visit Universal Orlando in ONE day, it’s almost impossible to experience everything in both Universal Studios AND Islands of Adventure. So if you can’t ride everything, what rides should you pass on?? We get asked all the time about how to do Universal in one day, or what should a Universal Orlando one day itinerary look like? And to be honest, it’s going to depend on your party and what you want to get done. BUT, there are rides that we skip at Universal when we’re short on time. We also broke this list down into rides to skip at Universal Studios Orlando AND rides to skip at Islands of Adventure. This way, if you’re just visiting Studios or IOA, you can check those out separately!

I will just say that severe weather (hurricane like rain and wind or 100+ temperatures) is the only reason to go into Fast and the Furious. AND ONLY IF, everything else is full and you are literally standing right in front of it.

I fully concur with everything on your list, EXCEPT The Simpsons Ride. It's one of my favorites! I also agree with hating wet feet. I once saw a family take plastic grocery bags and rubber bands to try to protect their feet on the Barge ride. I was curious to see if it worked; it didn't. We were on the same raft, and they were hilarious! We could have thought the water was acid by the way they were screaming!!! Personally, although we stay close by at Royal Pacific, we like to take a bag to the parks containing dry shoes and socks, and we rent a locker for the day. Great video, Anna & Tyler! Thanks!

We love the Simpsons too, Tyler is just too fragile LOL! Yeah wet feet are brutal! We do that sometimes as well with the change and cloths. Its a life saver when you decide to ride the water rides! As always thanks for the support!

I was with you every step of the way until I heard Bilge Rats! There was an audible gasp of disbelief and horror from my family who were also listening 🤣 We ride this over and over and love it but that may be because we're from the UK and are glad of the relief from the heat. My daughter and I saw the last showing of Bourne Stuntacular when we were there back in June. We loved it. It was the end of the day and we were ready to sit and rest. We sat in the floor during the entry and pre show. Now as for Kong, I wasn't impressed at all. I was fortunate enough to ride the original Kongfrontation in Universal. It was awesome. I miss that ride. We also went in to see Poseidon's Fury because it was operating again. But we waited in line and got into the pre show and into the second room where you walk into the rotating water tunnel. Well when the door started opening, it stopped and wouldn't open again. So that ended the entire show. We were all given a free express pass and had to walk out a back door and around the backlot back to the park. It started pouring rain and we waited a bit until it stopped. We never got to see it. But we have seen it years ago so it wasn't a total loss. Now maybe it was just me, but I slightly sorta liked Fast and Furious. LOL. It was lame and cheesy and it does need to go, but I thought it was kinds neat, but not cool. It's one of those cheesy things that you hate but want to do it anyway. LOL. Anyway, that's my take on it. Oh hey yall, my daughter and I will be back down there in October 9-15th. We are doing Disney this trip. Hopefully we might run up on yall at Disney Springs or somewhere on Disney property and I'll introduce myself in person. Cheers.

My husband and I finally got around to Fast & Furious last week. Can't say we'll be on it again anytime soon 😂. On the other hand, we had always passed over Men in Black -- I think we just never thought of it since it's beyond Diagon Alley. Finally got on that, too, and it was a totally fun surprise, I loved it! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Velocicoaster, hope you have an AWESOME time!!

Hi Anna & Tyler! WOW you guys were clairvoyant with Shrek 4D! How did you guys know back then that it was going to be replaced? Your list is very good for someone trying to do both parks in one day. In Studios, I would add Jimmy Fallon, race through NY. I will do MIB several times, especially when I am by myself because I can use the Single rider line. In IOA, I agree with your list. I also agree with water rides, when I am in town and have a nice day, I will make a special trip to the park to just ride Jurassic River Adventure, Popeye’s and Dudley’s many times, because I will wear water shoes, a bathing suit and rash guard shirt and I will just get soaked, almost like Anna in your last released video! 😂😂😂😂😂. I do find it funny that since Tyler doesn’t like Storm Force Accelatron that when he does ride it, that he will spin it to the max. If I ever see it, I will join Anna laughing my head off watching him on it. 😅😅. Ken

We followed your “skip list” almost to a T when we were there in April except For the rides you mentioned in Suess Landing and the Woodpecker coaster because… kids. We did Fast & Furious but passed on Race Through New York. We didn’t make it to ANY of the shows...they are just a really big time suck as much as we would have loved to see them. We had 2 1/2 days in the park. It was more important to us to re-ride some of our favorites than to do it all.

We definitely agree with some of the shows! As many times as we’ve been to the parks, there are shows we haven’t seen because we don’t want to dedicate the time to them. We tend to re-ride our favorites over several of these rides on our list!

I’m currently watching this at hard rock hotel at Universal Orlando!! I spent the last three days here for the first time since 2017 and it’s absolutely amazing! I rode men in black, Gringotts, and hagrid’s, three times from 6 to 9. Made great timing! I even got lucky and one of the hagrid’s rides broke down! 😍🙏

We were there 10 days ago. And thank god I didn’t go for shrek 4d, but we definitely regret the fast and furious. Even if you are not on a time crunch it’s still not at all worth it. Bourne was our second day ride - if you are tired from first day and just wanted to relax in the air conditioning on an afternoon this is pretty good.

Love your Universal videos! My family are visiting in December and unfortunately I do have to go on F&F Supercharged as my wife has never been on it and she's a massive F&F fan. As for the ride I would never skip no matter how long the queue is that would be Revenge of the Mummy. Also if you booked a premium hotel for one night do you get express passes for 2 days or just one?

Awh thank you! We hope you and your family have a great time in December. We agree about the mummy, too! We’ll be riding that one several times in December to make up for it’s temporary closure next year. With the premier hotels, you do get express for both your checkin and checkout day, so you’ll have 2 full days of express!

Of you're doing a 7 day trip would the after 4pm fast passes that come with the annual work well? I'm thinking having a nice breakfast daily and laying by the pool until it's time to hit the parks.

It really depends when you visit the parks! In the summer months, the parks are open a lot later at night so you have more time to use the express pass. Other times of the year, the parks will close at 6 or 7 at night, meaning you only have 2-3 hours to take advantage of the express passes. It’s definitely better than not having express, though!

I see that check in is @ 4pm for the premiere hotels but do you still gain access to the early entry & fast passes if you arrive earlier than expected?

You sure do! As soon as you check in (you don’t have to wait until 4), you can drop your bags with luggage services and head to the parks! You’ll get your room key as soon as you check in and they’ll text you your room number once it’s ready. Your key is your express pass and access to early park!

We just came back from a long weekend trip. With only 3 days and a couple of hours in the parks, we skipped all of those and basically just did all HP rides, the Velocicoaster, Mummy and whatever other rides had short waits. I will never do the Simpsons ride again. I don’t get motion sick as a rule, but that one got me bad.

I have to admit something. I love your content and you information is very valuable when visiting theme parks. I have to say I was at Universal Studios last week. It was pretty bad. That park needs some help. Too many virtual rides. I ride anything so it's not just a virtual ride hater. Many of the ride were rough or the movie needed to be updated or changed to a new one. I know its my opinion but I haven't been in 12 years until last week and I will never return there. Islands was nice but the old park was sub par. It wasn't crowded or anything like that. I mean I'm pretty sure Minions is using the ride vehicles that Hannah Barbera used for their old attraction. That goes way back.

Hey Bryan! Thank you so much for that! We get it. A lot of people don't enjoy Studios because some of its attractions seem to be outdated. We personally see it as a great 1-2 punch with Islands. With the virtual rides, if it rains (which it will in florida) you have something to do and Studios is a great place to be on a rainy day. We agree that some of them need to be updated cause the graphics just aren't what they should be in 2021! Sorry that you didn't enjoy your time in Studios! Hopefully the new park will make up for it!

As a Florida resident, I can tell you Poseidon's Fury is currently closed off for renovations. It has actually been closed down since August of 2020. Furthermore, it is uncertain if it will ever come back.

I skip the same ones, although I do go on the Simpsons Ride and The Cat in the Hat because my mom can only go on a handful of rides due to motion sickness and she loves those two; but we always skip Minion Mayhem and Jimmy Fallon as well as Fast and Furious. If time's really pressing, I also skip Transformers.

Ok so I just came back yesterday from visiting universal & I must say, as a complete newbie to simpsons and trying the ride for the first time it felt super unnecessarily jerky the entire time, especially considering the other dark rides in the park. I don't think i'll be going back to that ride anytime soon

I agree with all the rides on your list except Bluto’s & Ripsaw Falls! I always wear Chacos to the parks because the plan is to ride those rides and they allow for my feet swelling! F&F is just dumb and needs to be replaced. Kong is not that thrilling to me. Never been on either Simpsons’ rides. I don’t venture passed ET in that area. Most of family doesn’t like rides like Doctor Doom, so I haven’t ridden it. And I can’t do spiney rides. Also, haven’t ridden anything in Seuss land. Shrek & Minions were a first time ride for me this year, because my pregnant sister couldn’t do much. So we sat in stationary for Minions (bad idea for me) and bro & sis sat in stationary on Shrek and me & bro in law sat in the other seats. It was cute but would skip in future

I’ve tried chacos but they’re just got as good as my tennis shoes! We definitely agree with your assessment of Shrek and Minions. They’re fine, but once you do it there’s not really a point to redo it!

We’ve never actually done a VIP tour! It’s on our list, but we’re not exactly sure what all it entails. If you only have one day in the parks, we would think the VIP tour would help you make the most of it!

Seems like it's reasonably priced for what you get - especially considering Disney charges THOUSANDS for their VIP Tour which is ridiculous. Or you can plan your trip around the Orlando Informer Meetup Event which is almost the same as a VIP Tour only you don't have a guide.

I'd say Shrek, Despicable Me, The Simpsons Ride, Fast & Furious, Kong Rides that are a must for me is the Harry Potter Motorbike Rollercoaster ( the line is so damn long everytime and the Ride shuts down often)

to this day I haven't met a single person that likes fast and the furious , rode it two times, the first one I was like what was that, the second time I wanted to give it a break, and yup it still sucks big time. the only reason I would ride it again is if the park was empty and I have done every single ride 5 times and that was the only one left.

Virtual queue only exist for 1-3 rides at a given time and at times, its not available at all!

Hi Pugh Two - I know y’all get a lot of questions but hoping you can answer my question and I am not too late to y’all answering questions under this video. Going to Universal in June and for Volcano Bay, I wanted to know if it’s worth it to buy the express pass plus since you only get to skip the virtual line one time each ride? I plan on going in the morning so I figured I’d probably be able to get on many rides in the morning. By afternoon, when the park gets more crowded, would it worth getting the express pass at that point since virtual lines will be much longer or is it still a waste of money?

That’s a great question and we’re always here to answer questions! We’ve heard that express passes are life savers at Volcano Bay. We’ve personally never purchased them, but friends and viewers have highly suggested them. The summer months are very busy at Volcano Bay, so we can see the express pass being a life saver. As far as if it’s worth it, that’s a personal preference! They’re definitely not necessary, they just have the ability to enhance your trip. We hope this helps!

Absolutely! The big ones would be Rip Ride Rock It and The Hulk. These are definitely the most intense rides at the parks! The new Velocicoaster is pretty intense as well. Hagrid's is a really good roller coaster, but it's less intimidating than some of the others. It doesn't go upside down at all and is a very smooth ride, we see a lot of kids in line for this one! Mummy is a dark indoor coaster. It doesn't go upside down, but the theming of it could be a little scary. The rest of the rides are mostly just 3D dark rides that would definitely be okay for your kids to ride! Gringotts is on a roller coaster track, but we think it's pretty tame. Also, doom isn't very kid friendly! Our best suggestion, because you know your kids the best, would be to watch POV footage of each ride online to see how intense it is. Then, you can decide for yourself what rides you think they can handle. We hope this helps!

Well… 1. Incredible Hulk Coaster 2. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit 3. Revenge of the Mummy, (not that bad, but has a scary atmosphere) 4. Velocicoaster 5. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, (also not that bad, but your kids can watch POV videos on RU-vid to see if they are confident enough.) 6. Escape from Gringotts, (this is more of a 3D simulator than a coaster. This ride only has 1 drop, so shouldn’t be that intense for your kids.) The rest are either Kiddie rides, or rides that aren’t really intense! Hope they enjoy 😉

I am going to Universal Orlando for the first time with my girlfriend and we have some triggers due to past events. Does anyone know if there are any eyes that get injured or come out of anyone's head? Eye Mutilation and Injuries cause some reactions for myself that trigger PTSD.

We can’t think of any instances like this at Universal. Now, HHN is probably a different story, but not in any of the regular attractions. We would probably suggest that you avoid the Horror Make-up Show, and you can always ask an attendant outside the ride to double check before you go in.

Kong and Fast Furious are the same level of bad. Universal needs to kill the bus concept. In the future if any concept pitch says "And everyone is on a Bus!" Just kick them out of the room. After that the Harry Potter Hogwarts ride always makes me sick and Shrek kills my back.

Me and the wife spend 50$ or more on squrting people who come off the water rides or dumping the buckets full of water. People don't expect it and its just a lot of fun. We could spend all day doing that. When they look up and see its you its priceless or even better when they brag they didn't get wet and sit up and then get sprayed. You think it wouldn't be so much fun but it is.
