My local HD had the large boxes on display, so I bought one. I love it. I used some scrap plywood to make dividers and I was able to store three nailers, a router, nailes and router bits in the box. This allowed me to get rid of the small parts organizers.
I’m looking forward to replacing my rolling box with the new one. I love my Ridgid tool storage boxes, but my biggest gripe was with the rolling box. I don’t like the handle. You stack too many boxes and you end up pinching your hand.
My son gave me one of these for Christmas. I like the features. the different sizes will work out great. The smaller top box has dividers but the two larger boxes do not have any. I have been searching for some but have failed to find any. In my opinion, they would be really handy to keep things from moving around. It would be nice if in the future dividers were available. Guess I'll have to find some scrap plywood and make my own.
I owned the first gen ridgid system and loved it, until someone else loved it enough to make it theirs. Looks like a few shortcomings were addressed and Improvements made. I expect gen 3 to have even more improvements and stackable boxes; but current offerings like the cooler was a welcome surprise. A compact radio section with internal porting (like bose systems have) would be awesome as most jobsite radios really suck and are 3x more expensive than they should be. The detachable handle system looks great but they could have added a foot to make a hand truck. The front latches are an improvement and will save time compared to the side latches of gen 1. I hope gen 2 handle is stronger than gen1, especially when extended; The large base box plus a cooler would be too heavy for the gen 1 handle, and certainly too much when stacking a 3rd or 4th box on top. I'd like to see more full width boxes with organizer style compartments for all sorts of fasteners; Make them large enough to fit the box fasteners come in. The orange sliding partitions are nice, but not strong or spaced well enough for that purpose. I'm still impressed with the kit. Perhaps when they're on sale around christmas I'll look into buying, but the system is currently too expensive for me to consider due to the durability concerns I have with the handle.
I just bought the old Ridgid system a couple months ago since they were practically giving them away. I would have preferred the Packout or Toughsystem 2.0, but there was no arguing with the Ridgid system's price. I paid $100 for a Ridgid 3-box combo: large box/cart, medium box, and small box. This wasn't really a combo price. That was the price for all 3 purchased individually. I then went ahead and bought an additional small box for another $25. I have seen sales on Toughsystem 2.0 3-box combos for as low as $180, but it had to be all 3 boxes. If you needed another small box, it was $65. The Ridgid system was so much cheaper than even the Ryobi, Bauer, or Craftsman systems, it was a no brainer. I figured something was up, but at the price I paid I don't care if there is a newer shinier system.
Looks-wise better than it's Pack Out cousin (it doesn't scream "STEAL ME!" like big red and sloppy yellow), and at first glance has all the features I want. Pricing is more reasonable compared to the other more realized systems. We don't have it available in my area yet and it just isn't fleshed out like the other systems are so far. Looking forward to seeing it in person because my back is telling me I need more wheeled toolboxes in my life. Thanks for sharing, my Ursidae friend!
MORE accessories please ! I would love to see a bottom plate you could attach to a vehicle that would then attach to the boxes. My temp solution is I screw down the RIGID "milk" crate so I can attach other boxes to it.
I would like them to add a drawer unit and maybe a really thin case without small parts bins and without a clear lid. It would then be really close to perfect. Love the new wall mounts and rolling cart. I may have to upgrade my current 1.0 to 2.0 cases.
I love the new Ridgid 2.0 and you can still connected with the gen 1. I think the mobile toolbox Wheels are to small. I'm going to look at getting the husky or the Craftsman mobile tool box. What do you think. Thank you for all the information you put out on these videos.
I'm a Mobile Small Engine Tech in Coastal Virginia and have been using the Rigid systems for about 2 years and can say I've been highly impressed. I've had to drag my box through muddy fields in bad weather, backyards, gravel driveways and never had an issue with it. Have been really hoping they expand their line. I'm a Research Shopper and checked all of them out before I vested in one and definitely say I've gotten my money's worth. I'm really glad to see the cart design. That's been my only complaint is the removable lid on the bottom box and the cart handle isnt big enough. I'd much rather have a hinged top. And the handle looks big enough for a Bear Paw! 😆 🐻
Glad it'll be comparable with the cooler. Their cooler has in my arsenal, replaced the yeti, my RTIC, and my Ozark, coolers. Yeah I have 1-2 of each. Best used for grocery runs, store is so far away being in the country everything melts and spoils otherwise.
Saw these in store about 1.5 weeks ago. I liked the removable wheels. Makes this so much easier to make inserts for, don't have to trim around the wheel wells.
Like some others - I bought the gen 1 Rigid boxes because prices were reduced a LOT. Glad the new stuff will fit if I want. Would like to get those inside compartment gizmos if priced reasonably.
New to my trade (electrican) Had the handle break on the new Gen2 dolly. Think its just bad luck on my end or defect. (it happens) Returned for replacement with no issues. Having doubts now about the handle being that hard plastic rather than metal.
@@ALAPINO actually the reviews on Sam's are for manufacturer defects not durability issues, yeah it's made in China as is everything at this price point, check the one you pick at the store carefully. At this price point it's this or Husky both of which I like because they're grey man brand, they don't scream "come steal me" like a pack out does.
I love my gen 1. $100 on black friday years go. Everyone was grabbing the pack out. While i like the pack out this is everything i needed and nothing i didnt. Its like a trusty toyota…both have lots of use. My smaller box goes under my rear seat with some automotive tools. Perfect fit.
Hey folks, buy an airtag or tile or any kind of gps tracker, hide it within your box, try to stick it somewhere that it’s hard to see, paint it black, or even stick it inside of an expensive tool. It’s a small price for the security it provides, especially since you can easily have thousands of dollars worth of tools, maybe tens of thousands
I have a several gen 1 plus a box style Rigid vacuum that’s really close in dimensions, but not quite. Hoping they make a compatible vacuum with gen 2.
Oh, sure! Now they come out with 2.0, after the wife got me the 3 piece for Christmas. No worries. I’m happy with my decision to have her get me the Ridgid. The only thing I wanted to get was the 26” box with wheels on the end and the horizontal pull-out handle. It’s a nice Goldilocks size, but the dang things have gone up in price instead of down! Maybe once 2.0 hits the stores that’ll change. Thanks for the info, Red! Shine On!
I just got a 2.0 base, and already had (2) 1.0 boxes. The old boxes use the same system to stack on the base, but the lid on to 1.0 will not open but about 50%, while attached to the 2.0 base. I have to take it off, and sit in the floor to open. Wondering if the 2.0 boxes will open while they are attached to the base?
Is the new system going to smell better than the current one? Iv’e had mine for about 9 months and still every time I open it the smell just about knocks me on the floor.
I’m glad to see them offering more boxes, but I’d really like to see them expand the line since they are so much cheaper than Packout and just as good. The gen 2 boxes don’t seem like an upgrade over gen 1 though. I like the interior dividers better on the gen 1.
I would like to know how I can register these on Ridgids website there is no model numbers, I did find numbers on the yellow and white sticker, on bottom of the boxes but none of them are the model numbers. Hope you can help me. Thx
My biggest issue with other brands is the handle stands up and u can’t close a bed cover with them. The rigid original design goes down low profile less then 22” and it fits great under a bed cover. Does this fold down less then that or does the handle stick up stupid high like all the others?
my buddy uses a set for luggage. they are super durable, has wheels, stackable, and can be stowed on a hitched carrier or bed of a truck. our last road trip we packed about 1/2 our camp gear into a huge dewalt rolling tool box and lashed it to a HF hitch carrier.
I already use their Gen 1 storage boxes for my Overlanding setup in my Jeep. This is just extra goodness - especially looking at that cooler! The Gen 1 boxes were already solid and quality built and I've put them through the ringers. Right on, Rigid! Stepping up the game!
After watching Flex Stack Pack. Every manufacturer should be worried and bring something special next year. I have all Ridgid storage system. My wallet speaks louder than my eyes.
The back of the old gen, in the middle there, it is good for a kick plate. It is a little tight, however, it works. New ones look good. Good to see you big bear.
