7:39 Topwater Shark Explosion
Fishing has been slow and I was yearning for some topwater schoolies so I launched the yak behind AC and fished the marshes. Overcast, 80 degrees, 10mph NE wind, the table was set for some dusk feeding activity. I fished 5-dusk and caught one 26" Bass on a pink zoom on a 3/8ths oz kalin, as well as one short fluke. I had a lot of bites which I edited out but I think there were a bunch of small seabass, scup, searobins, weakfish, etc. The mullet and peanut bunker were both visible at times and places although there didnt seem to be much chasing them. Right around 7:30 I saw a nervous school of mullet and probably my 3rd cast at them a mysterious wake appeared behind my spook, I noticed a dorsal fin and called shark, then he trailed off the spook so I slowed it down and within a couple walks of the dog.....
The topwater shark crack is real. One of the craziest things Ive seen in a long time, and I hope to some how get another shot at a shark on topwater.
Thanks for watching!
