Boy, this really brings back memories. I worked on these beautiful little props in the early 80s in Germany and use to run them up on the trim pad. The sounds and sights in this video are just perfect. Really miss those days.
The Pilot was a former aviation cadet of the Philippine Air Force Flying School Class 1996! He was a 1Lt when this was taken. LT.Garcia is now flying with the big birds (commercial airlines).
PINOY AVIATOR Alright, but does the AFP still allow college graduates to train as AF Pilots? I read somewhere that the they only allow PMA graduates to fly as of now.
Yes, but you have to join the Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate School (PAFOCS) first then after completing the PAFOC training then you can submit yourself to take the Military Pilot Training (MPT) at the Philippine Air Force Flying School (PAFFS).
Kakainggit naman 'to. Mabuhay kayo! Ingat lang sa paglipad. :)
@nakazatoGTR The primary design change between the earlier F-5E and the F-5G was the use of a single General Electric F404 engine that was originally designed for the F/A-18 Hornet.[22] The new engine provided 60% more thrust over the twin-engined F-5E. conclusion: This plane was designed as a fighter interceptor in case of aggression from the air or as an attack aircraft against any mechanized unit on the ground. It has a very limited capability against infantry. it's not for NPA or MILF.
@nakazatoGTR The BRP Gregorio del Pilar was formerly the USCGC Hamilton. It was launched December 18, 1965. She was commissioned March 18, 1967 and was decommissioned on March 28, 2011. In 1988, Hamilton completed a three-year fleet renovation and modernization that provided the ship with modern weapons and electronics systems,
@arneldv66 the formulation of appropriate solid fuel propellant which can give enough thrust to propel the ideal explosive payload up to a desired minimum distance (at that time they were aiming for a 1 kilometer distance) and the lack of technological expertise in devising a guidance system. The best person to interview about this matter is Timoteo Cordova, He was head of PAF's F-5 technical maintenance up until his retirement he was a Major then. hope he's still alive.
I'm jealous. Even though I didn't join the military and instead joined the mercenaries, I still want to get in to those bad boys. All I have seen, used, and ridden are American guns and apaches but not a Branco.
@nakazatoGTR In 1975, Northrop began development on the F-20 Tigershark (initially designated as F-5G), a fighter plane designed to be reliable, easy to fly and inexpensive to maintain, a responsive, low-cost fighter that was designed by Northrop but was never sold or mass-produced. Aviation author Steve Pace wrote of the F-20 as "one of the best fighters that never went into production".
@nakazatoGTR The development program was eventually abandoned in 1986 after three prototypes of the F-5G/F-20 had been built and a fourth partially completed. 2 of these prototypes crash killing its veteran pilots not due to any defect in the plane but rather it performed over and above both pilots expectations.
@nakazatoGTR If the f-15's longeron not meeting drawing specification is corrected and repaired then this plane is definitely a winner. The model E should be specified. The Philippines can very much afford the financial strain on our national budget so long as China will think twice before bullying us in the future.
@phoebekuan s211 isnt at least as capable as a chines j-7 china-flanker. even the MiG 21 can out turn an F-4 Phantom. yes it is outdated, but atleast we must have the capability to match up. PF-15 is in 30 day dry dock. US personnel presence at the keppel shipyards now that means goodies that are opsec in nature may be installed in place..
Marami sa atin we look down on this aircraft pero the americans and other nations fighting global terrorism still look up to this light aircraft.. Hindi nga lang nabigyan ng boeing company at us nat'l defense to evolve to its full potential but i think this is even better than super tucanos of today.. This could've given the best attack aircraft of america A10 warthog a good competition if its program continued.. But then again u.s prefered to make defective 5th gen fighters like f35..
greyfortitude18 I would give my eye teeth to own an airworthy Bronc. These were built to take abuse. The Germans still have a few in service & the US brought a few out of reserve to see how they performed in Syria & Iraq. That low intensity war zone & the Bronco's long loitering capability makes it almost perfect. The USAF can't wait to dump the A-10 so they can start losing F-35's & F-16's to ground fire while performing totally inappropriate missions.
kung di lang tayo masyadong depende sa US made at wala tayo pakialam pagbawalan man tayo mag acquired kahit KFIR lang sana sir Ed nakasakay kana sa KFIR feel the rush ika nga.2000 kph po iyon.
@ipogi40account2 we had aircraft carriers..but turned into helicopter carrier becuase it has no aircraft....sana aircraft carrier pa rin at saka...ang ov-10 bronco ay aircraft cya na pwede malipad sa carrier..tungnan mo..yung US pa ang gumamit after the production in 1965..they use itand was suitable at carrier...ov-10 broncos had missiles named sidewinder(wing pylons only)..and its bomb is a SOD or bomb dispenser or sonthin dispenser..i love this aircraft..
@edlingao sir good day baka pwede ninyo i-documentary ang kaunaunang missiles na gawang pinoy cguro nasa pagitan ito ng 1970s-1980s ung pangalan po ng missileseh sta barbara nadevelop po ito during pres. marcos succesful po ang test firing nito kc po nabasa ko po ito sa philippine defense forum pto napo ung humming bird at defiant 500 ito po ung mga gawang pinoy na hindi pinaghintulutan ng atin gobyerno salamat po
@arneldv66 That program was called project sta. Barbara because it was tested in sta. Barbara, cavite. The missile is named Bong bong.after the presidents son. It is a 3 inch diameter with aluminum casing projectile The development group was led by a German consultant who was a psuedo missile expert who was always asking the military for money. Project Sta. Barbara was a complete failure because the trajectory cannot be predicted within acceptable accuracy due to problems in the formulation of.
kahit mga rebuilf na F-20 of F-29 ang ibigay sa atin eh sign up agad ko... kung sana ung planned na F-16-79, ung F-16 with the F-4's J-79 engines and a little downgrade.
DAPAT MAGING PROUD PDN KAYO SA OV10 NATIN NA KAHIT MATANDA NA AT UUGOD UGOD NA SYA LUMALABAN PA AT NAKAKAPATAY PA .. WAG NYO SANA MALIITIN DAHIL D2 SA MGA TOH TULAD NG OV 10 AT RAJA HUMABON DUMEPENSA SILA NUNG PANAHON NG MGA HAPON . AT HANGGANG NGAYON GINAGAMPANAN PADN NILA ANG TUNGULIN NILA ..
+Benny A sir benny there are still atleast 8 ov10 in commision by the philippine air force and they are planning to replace it they are eyeing super tucano as a replacement for close air support.
I wonder where the others went. They are probably rusting away. I would like to see about getting one to see if I can restore one for our SAR missions.
The once proud Blue Diamonds reduced to prop driven aircraft. WE NEED US F- 16s quick. Please Mr. President, kahit mag chip in na lang kami mga OFW to acquire at least a squadron of those.
where is the Richest country of the world,.the Richest country of the world is Philippines, now look the Philippines, thats is Rich,. Rich sa ka krakutan,.
+Benny A the philippine airforce doesnt have F-16's.. 2014 the philippines purchased 12 (1 squadron) FA-50 from korea and another 6 close air support aircraft from brazil the Super Tucano. i think 4 OV-10 Broncos will be refurbished and will be upgraded this year. oh and by the way.. the Philippine airforce is also eyeing to buy 5 JAS Gripen from sweden.
+Remar Javier Do you know where the retired bird went? They are probably rusting away would like to see about maybe buying on and restore it. P.S. Keep an eye out for the chinese up there.
Every aircraft, either brand new or old, if not maintained properly are considered as flying coffin. Fortunately though, those remaining OV-10s of the 16th Attack Squadron are well maintained, but it needs to be replaced ASAP as each a/c are almost reaching it's intended flying hours.
