I've only been in Bozeman for 15 years so I can't comment on what Grassy might have looked like when you were living here but we definitely still refer to the last three or so miles of what you rode as "Grassy Mountain". Those people you encountered riding uphill were more than likely doing just the Grassy section. The locally preferred route for doing the Bangtail Divide is a toss up between shuttling two cars and doing just the dirt from Stone Creek to Brackett Cr but the diehards ride the whole thing as a loop including the pavement. And then for the absurd, you can look at Strava and the seven people who have logged the 45 miles out and back aka Stone>Brackett>Stone!
Thanks for watching Harry - you'd be surprised how easy it is to go fast on those trails. They are relatively smooth and have pretty good nightlines. I did have to dial it back near the end as I started to see more uphill riders.
Oh wow. Those are two ways trails? I'm a little spoiled here in MN not a lot of two ways. Getting out and up to cuyuna next month over MEA break. So excited. Have to watch that awesome video you did again 🙂
Definitely a killer looking trail. It’s also my favorite kind of riding. So nice being able to cruise through some chunk and descend forever! Great video Kris!
Looking at strava, my ride time was a little over two hours. The crosscut trail system across the road from this trail was also recommended to me although I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet. Have fun!
