The water was nice before you all decided to ride through it… One of the few places you can find our state fish and you ride right through it. Well done.

That's pretty sick. Before you got up in the canyon it reminded me of when I used to race Barstow to Vegas except without the road. How many miles do you get on a tank of gas? Some of your videos it looks like your riding for hours.

Thanks! MPG depends on terrain and aggressiveness. In the sand dunes you'll be out of gas right as you hit 50 miles. On nice smooth roads you can get about 70 miles. Gas is almost always our biggest enemy out here. We usually ride and film 3 hours on average, plus a couple of hours of driving somewhere and back from Vegas.

I’m interested in picking up an outlander XMR 1000 and live in Idaho. I’m curious why you both landed on the renegade XMR models and what modifications you’ve made for desert riding.

We chose the renegade XMR because it barely cost more than the XXC and has quite a few upgrades in comparison. We saw the Outlander XMR at a trade show and it felt a bit too big (just our opinion). It honestly depends on your priorities when riding. (It's WAY easier to carry stuff with an Outlander) So far mods are exhaust and tuner, rear rack, radiator protector, ECU flash, air box lid.

Desert ATV Explorers Thanks for the response. Just so I get this right, the ecu flash is to eliminate the top speed being limited to 65 mph. The tuner is just to get the fuel/air optimized for the exhaust but wouldn’t eliminate the top speed limit. I ride a sportsman 1000 now and having top speed limited to 65 wouldn’t be ideal.

@@ericgray8396 Correct. The tuner is only for the fuel/air ratio adjustments. The flash removes the 65 mph limiter and rises the rpm limiter and makes the response more aggressive overall. With no top speed limit you're limited my max rpm. Mine is at 8500 now, I think Osta has his at 8800 My flash removes the speed limit in sport and normal mode (previously both 65 mph) but eco mode is still limited to 45 mph. Makes for a nice cruise control sometimes. Sport and normal mode can do 89-90 mph now, it climbs to 80 mph quick, slows down a bit after that.
