No pinch flats or bent rims for your group? Looked like you all were just slamming through those rock gardens at high speed. Nice footage of Trevor shredding too!
No pinch flats or bent rims that day! I heard of a bunch of people that destroyed rims there last season but I managed to emerge unscathed - at least when it comes to wheels, haha. Yeah, Trevor is a shredder. Super fun to watch him ride.
Hay Kris I'm the kid with the neonish helmet at Giants ridge that one time I yelled to you that I crashed on my face while you were on the lift anyways this my new channel
Kristofer Yahner understood, I sold my dh bike as it felt like overkill for spirit most the time and then sold my xc bike and went with the salsa horsethief because I felt it could handle everything MN has to offer. Didn’t know if some of those rock gardens would be beating up my rear shock though.
I used to switch between clipped and not clipped depending what I was riding but a while back I just switched everything including my road bike to flats. It just feels more comfortable to me.
"That guy's the best" oh you flatter me. That was a rad weekend, man. I was so stoked to get that drop on Sector 12 that the next weekend, I followed in your footsteps and Monroe towed me into the gap jump! And it looks to me that we can both grow on Goliath. Great video as always, bud. Let's ride soon.
Thanks for watching! A hardtail would be no problem on Tadpole or Leapfrog. You could ride a hardtail on Goliath and Granite Gorge but you’d probably have more fun with a full sus bike.
How were the mosquito's? Last time I was up there they were a bit hungry. Granted that was around '99-00. No lift all legs and the incentive of out running the bugs.
I wanted to say thank you for posting this video! When I watched this I knew I had to get out to Giants Ridge and ride and I finally did last weekend and loved it! They were building a new trail that had a jump I think bigger than all the jumps on Goliath. When you first enter the flowy part you can see the new massive step-up behind the berms. Awesome stuff man.
this weekend was my first time at giants ridge and my friend had only ever rode a bmx so he rented a mtb and his first time down sector 12 he was leading and he hit every jump and drop on that trail even goliath and he had never been mtbing before
Nice video as always dude! Spotted my logo in there lol. I still haven't made it up there yet, the rim situation in Duluth canceled my plan to go there the next day. Looks really good and I'm so stoked to hit Goliath! Nice job on sector 12 with that jump too. Send it!
Tadpole and Leapfrog are hardtail friendly (and kitty cat probably, I still haven't ridden it). Sector 12 and Goliath could be sent on a hardtail too depending on your jumping skills.
Superb vid - really felt I was there with you!! I’m trying to grow my channel, showcasing the best riding that North East Scotland has to offer - I think I’ve got lots to learn from you and your videos - especially the narrating part!!🤘Subbed and looking forward to more dude!
Great video, Kris! I can't wait until I finally have some more time to hit all the new trails in MN. Thanks for showcasing all the new trails and sharing your experiences.
Rode at Giant’s Ridge this June, my first bike park experience ever and man was it awesome. Congrats on checking off that gap jump on Sector 12, that was some serious commitment. That and the drop that precedes it seemed a bit above my pay grade so no attempts were made the day I was up. Goliath looks outstanding, it was closed when I was up so thanks for giving me a complete look at a trail I have no business riding at the moment (still would though). Great vid.
@@KrisYahner Ha! Didn’t realize on first watch but that was actually me in the black shirt and my buddy standing near that drop when you ask if everyone’s ok. I was eyeing it up before I hit it, which I did end up doing repeatedly that day. Small feat compared to the Sector 12 gap but it was a definite day of progress for me. Most air I had gotten off of jumps also that day which was nice.
