@@imbikinghere these roads remind me of my area. I’m in Monroe NC and we’ve got these gorgeous country roads, along with some random gravel. Lots of great riding.
@@imbikingherethey are. Did 27 miles on Sunday and rode into SC. There was a point where I freaked out because I was in the middle of a forest and hadn’t seen a car for a long time. It was first panic then peace. Definitely looking forward to going back. Your gravel roads look super fun though.
Its ashame that Arkansas gets so hot 5 months of the year. As a transplant Floridian, I need to get to greener pastures. The warm season is just way too long here, and it actually gets hotter in AR than it is in FL. The northwest part of the state looks like a gravel biking paradise - perhaps among the top 3 in the country in terms of states to move to. A bit of a shame the mountains are not a bit bigger, but that might be for the better. The one thing I learned about riding in Georgia is that it is too mountainous (northern part of state). You wouldn't think there could be such a thing, but there is. The hills are way too steep for way too long (relentless 12-plus percent grade hills that go on for miles) and they are just everywhere. It makes doing long rides trying to get in endurance training almost impossible. There is no Zone 2 riding. Its just nonstop anaerobic. NW Arkansas looks to be rolling hills for the most part. Much better for endurance rides.
Yeah it gets hot but I don't mind it too much. And to the mountains point, I specifically ride in the less mountainous areas here for that reason. There are places south of Fayetteville ( Boston mountains ) which are more rugged than I prefer for general riding.
