I somewhat did a shorter version of this as I was going from from North East to Botanic Gardens. Encountered the same issues with the map routing from Macritchie Reservoir to Botanic Gardens! Went along Lornie Highway to Adam Road, found that a bit more palatable.
Hi Avalon love your videos, I’m Australian looking forward to cycling Singapore. I have only done East Coast Parkway to back of Changi Airport.. hope 2022 I will return to peddle Singapore ….thanks Paul
Actually there is a Lornie Road PCN. Use the path on the left at the entrance of Marcritchie Reservoir, stay on the left & you will eventually reach an exit and on your right is the Lornie Road PCN. This video here from entrance of Marcritchie Reservoir(5:45) to that PCN(6:04): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DX9_hsXiGm8.html
Thanks for the commentary and sharing the experience 😁 Was thinking of trying this particular route but the construction in the middle section (AMK to Adam Road) is kind of making me think twice 😅
@@avchiang Haha. I hope I don't regret it. I realise I got a upper limit of 20km before my legs start to give way. Let me go find a battery pack for my camera before trying this long journey. Thanks again Avalynn 🙏😊
I took my bic up that little path at jln jelita from rail corridor today as well, quite challenging 😂. And yes I know of shiokness drinking down a bottle of 100 plus towards the end of my ride. Where did you park your bic at holland v?
Well done! Good video. Think your route deviates from the official one, especially around Bt Timah. Don't think it passes Holland V and Jelita. Haha! Agree with your assessment that it's pretty boring. Big hoohah about nothing, hehe.
You were at Macritchie but my guess is you crossed over to follow the traffic? You should not have to but just continue where you will reach the lornie PCN. When you reached the dead end its actually ok to go by the road because Lornie road is very quiet now since they built the highway. You can go back to the pavement once you come out of the tunnel.
Google map is not so accurate, it seem like to suggest hard route, e.g. dead end, skip avaiable PCN. Do you have good apps for routes, e.g. paid strava?
Hello! some paths are beside construction sites (before macritchie), I took some routes in private estates too, may be narrow and no shelter so depends on comfort level!
Was looking forward for solo ride from fernvale to bird park. Thanks to u now i know suitable route for it. Since i change my bike to foldie, im more to pcn n pavement as road doesnt goes well wif small rim n tyres. Thank u once again for the vid. N the rest of it. Totally awesome..!!! Ride safe ya..
@@avchiang well at least you get to explore. A bonus. I will try the other route you did earlier to Marina Bay. That seems more straight forward and direct. 😀
Can share how you cross over from Lonnie PCN (side by side to MacRitchie Reservoir) rejoining to Coast-to-Coast trail? Few days ago I made it and carried my bike across the bridge but could not figure out Coast-to-Coast continuity- turned back & also saw many who were lost like me 🤔
hey! from the comments given, I should have stayed on the side where the carpark entrance of the MacRitchie Reservoir is. I ended up getting lost and went a bigger loop via Balestier~
My wife and myself got into the Bukit brown cemetery at about 1am while cycling from Jurong to downtown east.. haha! We end up at the same dead end as you along the expressway. And we quickly make a u turn back to the private estate area.. haha!
Hi! I’m riding on the Royale by Mobot trifold bike, Hp mount’s from UltimateAddons (changed to a camera mount midway too!) and bottle holder’s from shopee :)
At the path where you were pushing your bike, you were supposed to be on the other side. If you are on the correct side, the one at the carpark entrance of the MacRitchie Reservoir, there will be no dead end but you will be able to smoothly transit to lornie pcn.
Hello! You can ride on the roads too (apart from tunnels and highways). I’m not confident of riding on the roads so sticking to sidewalks and bicycle paths where available!
I always go cycling along the way from the east coast to marina bay at night . After watching your video, I am admiring your braveness to dare to explore the ways by yourself. Although It is the wrong navigation given by google maps, you could keep calm by yourself, Need to learn from you, can't wait to try it by myself.
i love solo rides! started off with ECP to MBS too, slowly venturing to places I've never been. Do your research and go in the day just in case you need some help along the way! Yeah staying calm after entering bukit brown was... much needed. the cool drink at starbucks helped haha
