In this episode, I am exploring the Carcross desert in Canada, also called 'the worlds smallest desert'. But is it really a desert though? Let's find out while riding some dunes!

Venturing slightly off the beaten path pays off again! Occasional rays of light illuminate the spectacular landscape as you approach Alaska once again. Back in the gold rush heyday, the Canadian side would benefit from the law and order of the red-coated RCMP; whereas the American side would be a bit wilder - looking forward to some local history lessons Monday!

You stitched a very interesting series of segments together between the southern US/Canada border through beautiful British Columbia to the northern Canada/US Border showing the world a glimpse of the astonishing scenic variety of Canada’s westernmost province. There is sooo much more to Canada. I hope you return again and again. The World loves your work and your spirit.

Actually, there are different kinds of sand, depending on the region you travel. Some sand can be so smooth like powder. That kind of sand is extremely difficult to ride on. And some sand can be coarser, that one is easier to drive/ride on. This is the reason Saudi Arabia will import sand from the United States. It's because their sand is too smooth to be useful in a cement mix. With that said, with all the different terrains she has encountered, I have no doubt that her skills must have improved tremendously.

WOW! What a cool ride, in a beautiful place! I rode the railway from Skagway to Whitehorse, Yukon back in the 70s (yeah, dating myself here), and the scenery made a vague impression on my young teen-age mind then, but I can appreciate it so much more now through your adventures. Gorgeous country! BTW, there is a real desert in Canada called the Osoyoos desert, near Kamloops and the U.S. border in southern BC. Who'da thunk it? Canada is a fascinating place.

@pavechaser
@pavechaser 2 года назад
@@abdulazizsaleh8650 I think technically it’s not actually a desert because of the climate conditions year-round, but it looks just like one. If I’m not mistaken it is sand that has blown from ancient seabeds when the waters evaporated in the local area. The way the wind blows because of the mountain ranges around caused the sand to congregate in that area.

"Present and embraces the moment" is so important. Itchy Boots has inspired me to do that and I have enjoyed my riding much more since. I have very nice riding very close to where I live if I don't just focus entirely on the pavement. There are seldom traveled roads through forests and countryside, good size hills and streams. I'm safer too since my mind is where I am instead of off in blah-blah-blah.

@raspberryridge8840

Actually - 1,329 times the size of Holland. Europe and Canada are roughly the same area. At 12:49 it looks like you crossed the rails for the White Pass Railway ( 60.191 N, -134.705 W ). They run a tour from Skagway to Whitehorse. Another example of northern lake dunes is the Athabasca Dunes in Saskatchewan ( 59.028 N -109.275 W ). Canada does have real desert, but not at 60 N !
@brucemurray7912
@brucemurray7912 Год назад
@@raspberryridge8840 Actually it is only 240 times the size. Canada is just under 10 million sq Kms and Holland/Nederlands is just over 41,000 sq kms. Do the math. At 1,329 times that would make Canada 55 million sq kms if Holland is 41,000 sq km or it makes Holland 7,500 sq km if Canada is correct at 10 million sq km which it is.

4:00 I was flying back from China in the 90's and had a 6 hour layover in Narita, Japan. It was a cold, misty day but I decided to go through customs and just walk around the airport area for a bit. I was on a side street with offices and parking lots a mile or so from the terminal and, being a Sunday, there was no cars or anyone around. Well, there was one lady walking in the direction I was walking but that was it. We came upon a red light with the 'No Walk' thing blinking red. The lady stopped and waited for the light to change. I looked around, not a sole around and I hadn't seen a car at all. Coming from China where jaywalking is an art (at the time anyway) I just walked across instead of standing there getting drizzled on. Hey, I'm telling this story so that Itchy doesn't read this far down because I am sure she could care less how I feel about her blowing through stop signs. Still, my wife and I love you Itchy.

That light green lichen is called, "Caribou Lichen," as they love eating it. It turns bright green after a rain. Growing in it is the Caribou Antler lichen which is brown, and used by natives as it is a very strong medicine. But, sparingly as it grows very slowly. I once made a labyrinth in the sand of the Carcross dessert. It was fun! And, a neat place.

Noraly Your amazing in your travels . Wish I was young again and I had the nerve and balls to do something like this. If I can give you one suggestion from my own desert riding and motocross racing days. Momentum and speed are your friends. Feather the clutch hit the gas and go. Same with going down hills or slope. Keep the rubber side down, your fantastic

Beautiful but somewhat unexpected scenery from Canada. I hope to see your travels back home after Alaska. Stay safe. John

Only Noraly would be so organized as to have extra dust caps among extremely limited capacity baggage, yet so free-spirited as to travel the world alone and unaided.

“Retro” gas pumps. Great video. My dream would be to ride up that way. Admire you and your adventures.

I was concerned about the track through the dunes but you got out without any problems. Breathtaking scenery and great ride. Onward to your final destination on this epic journey.
