In this vlog, we look at the groundwork with Wilfred moving into riding him in the halter to see how his body felt. This is only the second time I have ridden him like this and he was amazing.
I also did a voice-over as I worked with him and rode him. Tried to leave most of it in but it was super long so took some bits out. We also check in on some of the other horses too.
Enjoy!

I had a laugh when you told the horse "dont do that, it's a listed building!"

It was so so lovely seeing you doing the ground work and getting relaxation and responsiveness, to see how you achieve this was awesome. It has helped me understand the importance of getting that relaxation before moving on to the next task and the need to do this more in my ground work. Thank you.

Olivia, the ground work you are doing is amazing. You are so passionate about improving mindset, it is amazing to see you doing mindset work with your horses too 💛🙏 they are lucky to have you! I have watched your vlog for years and have really enjoyed following your journey. Just wanted to add - don't worry if you can't do as many vlogs these days. I love your content, but it really makes me happy to see you prioritizing balance within your life. Thank you for all you do 💛

Haha my German Shepherd steals my brushes too. She only takes them a few metres away and drops them. It's the principle of the thing, she says.

I love watching ground work and want to be good at it I'm not fussed about riding its far too complicated but the ability to control such a beautiful animal with just a bit of rope and a whip is what I'm all about.

Do I spot another TRT fan? 😉 So nice to see a top level rider encouraging and advocating for the ground work 🥰

Thank you for sharing. I hope you keep sharing even though you're bound to get some negative comments. Some people don't like alternative methods but I think the TRT is fascinating. I also watch alot of Warwick Schiller and it has helped me enormously with my young horse and also my shut down older one. Keep pushing on and learning and taking us with you❤❤

I started this method of groundwork last year with Miri Hackett. I’ve seen such a positive change in my horses, especially my nervous mare.

GROUND WORK IS TRULY THE FOUNDATION OF HORSE TRAINING YOU CAN NEVER DO TOO MUCH GROUND WORK. SOUND IS OUR HORSES FIRST WARNING AND ALERTS THEM OF DANGER, THEN SIGHT. BY USING YOUR VOICE WITH DIFFERENT TONES AND SOUNDS, ITS SOOTHS AND DIRECTS THEIR MINDS TO US THE RIDER😁. WHEN WE ASK AND OUR HORSES TO PUT HEAD DOWN TO RELAX THAT MIND, THEY FEEL SUCH RELEASE (ALSO WHEN A HORSE'S HEAD IS FLEXED AT THE POLE AND FLEXING SIDE TO THE SIDE HIS BRAIN IS RELEASING ENDORPHINS) WHO DOESN'T LIKE ENDORPHIN😉. WE HAVE THEIR TRUST AND THEY WILL GLADLY LOOK FOR IT MORE AND MORE. THAT IS THE HIGH WE GET OUT OF TRAINING HORSES WHEN WE ASK AND THEY GIVE SO WILLINGLY. I am a 71 year old American women , have been lucky to keep learning about horse for the past, very close to 60 years now, feeding, pitching shite (as you BRITS say that word🤣) doing all for the HORSE. YOU ARE ARE VERY TALENTED HORSE WOMEN/HORSETRAINER AND ANYONE WOULD BE LUCKY TO BE AROUND YOU TO LEARN ABOUT THE HORSE. FANTASTIC RIDING YOUR HORSE WITH OUT A BIT. LOVE LOVE LOVE WATCHING BRIDLELESS HORSES LICKING AND CHEWING AS THEIR MOVING UNDER THEIR RIDERS CUES. LOVE YOUR CUTE CURLIE PUPS TOO! Take care Susan

It's a flower hackamore
@kirakelley552
@kirakelley552 3 года назад
@@NoThankUBeQuiet Just clarifying, some flower hackamores are slightly different than a wheel hackamore like the Nalanta! Some flower hackamores like the Zilco hackamore have a piece that comes down which is the option of a moderate mechanical hackamore.

Very Wilfy is fine by me. Wilf and my horse have similar builds and heights. Do what you can. Can happily wait. Excitement can feel like nervousness. So just tell yourself that you are not nervous, you are excited.

i can say from my personal experience of being fearful is just more saddle time. do what your comfortable with and then push yourself up a little bit. the more time in the saddle the more confidence you will get. it all comes with time and i promise you will get it!! i used to be terrified to canter, i am not starting to run barrels. so you will get there!
