Awesome Ride!!! No need for brakes on the tar snakes! I used to travel to Bowling Green, Ohio to visit my son at the University, but I never knew about the “555”, but I just put it on my bucket list. I would like to take my cruiser there for a great ride someday, tar snakes and all!! 👍
Sr 26 is outstanding! It is all country with a good portion by the Little Muskingum River as it ends in Marietta on the Ohio River. I would rank it with 555 maybe better.
I live about twenty miles from the southern end of Rt 555 and in my opinion there are much better motorcycle roads in the area than Rt 555. One of my favorite roads is St Rt 124 from Pomeroy to Hockingport. This road takes through some small towns like Syracure, Racine, Portant, Long Bottom (named for the long bottom fields next to the Ohio River) and Reedsville. In Reedsville the Reed's Country Store is a must stop, they use to sell everything from car tires, lawn mowers, hardware, groceries and ice cream cones. This route follows the beautiful Ohio River and there are places where you are just a few feet from the river bank. There are several barge lines which run the Ohio River and for someone who has never seen one it is a sight to be seen. Other roads in the SE Ohio are St RT 78 from Nelsonville to McConnlesville. On this route there are some beautiful sights of the valleys below. St Rt 374 is another of my facorites. it reminds me of being in Virginia near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Thompson Ridge goes from Rt 374 to Laurelville,. Just before you ride down to Laurelville there are some views of the valley below. Maybe not as good as the Blue Ridge Parkway, but still inpressive.
