Original route of fast train (rýchlik) Horehronec was from our capital Bratislava to Košice 2nd largest city on east, via Zvolen and Červená Skala.This video remininds me my childhood.I always watched the changing the Locos in station Margecany,there waited for us electric Locomotive “Pershing”(Škoda class 163,3kV)and pulled us to Košice..Thank you 👍

it's really nice although one of the poorest regions of slovakia with high level of unemployment, it's a great place to spend holiday but tough place to actually live day-by-day

Your videos are a true pleasure to watch. This one, with the Horehronec crossing througn Slovak hinterlands, is exactly the type of train travel I can rememeber in our charming central Europe in the 80's and 90's. Although Google does not feature "smell and vibration" (yet!) through the browser, I can almost FEEL the train. I also appreciate your knowledgeable notes throughout your productions. Best regards from Poland.

12:38 you're so right. That double click/thud of the unwelded lines is what I grew up riding in Poland, so many times. Of course the wagons are very familiar as well, I feel like I know exactly the sound of the opening doors or the fold-down tables and chairs ... Great video, thanks!

I never miss any of doc7austin's videos. Love the excellent information. I have no idea how he gathers all the info about the makes and models of the trains and the history of the towns along the route. I can't even pronounce any of the names of towns in this video, and I had to look on google maps to see where Slovakia is actually located, but this was a great virtual journey for me and an escape from my reality for about 27 mins. Great job.

Man what a wonderful video !! I live in Slovakia, love trains and this country through the middle of Slovakia has its own essence and real beauty but I never went there by the train and I planned it many times :D And i thought that horehronec train was cancelled and in the past it was more than just 3 carriages and went up to Bratislava... Time to go there finally after this video... Well done and make some more videos from Slovakia trains !! greet and thanks !!

The horehronec wasn’t really canceled it was just shortened to Banska Bystrica and got demoted to REX status

I would like to correct your statement at the very end of the video. Armored Train Hurban was indeed used during Slovak National Uprising, but that's not the correct one. The original one was scrapped, this is only a movie replica.

Hi there, i have watched lots of your train ridding videos and still am watching, nice work, beautiful sceneries, what about covid? Have u had ? During pandemic you were traveling, can you share your experience if you had any covid variant? Since you were flying and ridding, which one is safer to travel with?

So to go from km 175 to km 195 took 41 minutes. The average speed on the entire route was approx. 50km/h and the train arrives 17 minutes late. Is there a problem???

@@cestmoi1262 what "problem" for a God sake? 🤔 It's a singe track, local railway with almost zero traffic (less than 20 passenger trains a day and no freight) built during a WWII mostly as a back-up east-west connection. It doesn't serve any city, not even any larger town. The other two major east-west lines lie within some 30kms from there. Jeez, do some research before you come up wit ideas, please...
@cestmoi1262
@cestmoi1262 3 года назад
@@nikodzepina2876 No research necessary: a train that can't move faster than 30km/h on an absolutely straight, flat track has a problem. If you can't see that, it's ok with me. Possibly you are more used to accepting life the way it is rather than the way it should be. In the end I just gave my opinion. I can't change anything either.
@nikodzepina2876
@nikodzepina2876 3 года назад
@@cestmoi1262 you said 50, now it's 30... I see - it's not about a willingness, I'm afraid you are not capable to do that research after all...

Sadly, ZSSK has very much killed this train - nowadays, instead of old, but very cozy compartment coaches with half-slid windows, this line is operated by Class 861 DMUs, which are noisy, ugly, uncomfortable and don't even have proper openable windows. All in the name of ,,progress"...

Takže by vydržala dodnes v tomto stave ak by ju ČSD za socializmu nerekonštruovali niekoľko krát? To mi chceš naznačiť. Ak by nebolo komunistov-bolševikov, tak hlavne treba predpokladať, že by nás hitler poslal na Madagaskar a do koncentrákov, takže by ti už asi bolo jedno či táto trať existuje a v akom je stave.
