They were pretty bad! I even had to bum some bug spray off a group that was on their way out… I was there at the end of July. Hope you have a great weekend out there, truly one of my favorite places ever

@@DevynDuvall Don't be to jealous bro. The people's republic of California is not issuing wilderness permits because of the stay at home order. We had our Odyssey bags packed and ready to go when the ranger FINALLY called back yesterday with the news. I believe it's a $5000 fine if caught staying over night without the permit. You would think they'd allow backpacking because it's pretty much one of the safest things you can do, but they're not "allowing it". I tried to look into if Nevada requires wilderness permits because Ive always wanted to backpack the Ruby Mountains near Elko, but haven't found a definitive answer on that either. Guess we're just going to have to wait till the order is lifted and they start issuing again.
So bad with the names of the lakes. Jem lake sounds familiar. The next day hiked to see another lake definitely lots of mosquitos! Dear lake as well I know my crew and I did a loop. I remember we did 12 miles to get to another camp sight. Then hiked up and out the following day.
