#lapaz #bolivia #teleférico In the worlds highest cities of La Paz and El Alto Bolivia, the cable car Mi Teleferico system is the public transportation of choice and makes for an amazing way to explore this giant city in the mountains. La Paz Bolivia is an amazing city.
My friend Marcelo and I go all over the metro area of La Paz checking out all of the teleferico lines. It was an amazing way to spend my first day in the city and get to know the lay of the land. We had so much fun and it was incredibly interesting.

I lived in La Paz December 2006 to May 2007. Transportation was challenging, but I loved living there. Now I think I need to go back. The teleferico definitely makes me really eager to start my planning. It's a long way from Northern Alberta to Bolivia. 😊

I live in La Paz and it changed a lot, more buildings, cleaner streets, teleférico, paved roads. May I ask in which zone did you live in ? Bolivia is spectacular, the cultural heritage make it a fascinating mix in every city you go to

hey great videos!! I’m from La Paz, and I really enjoy your videos. I live in the south side of the city and the teleférico didn’t change anything much. Here’s a curiosity, theres a socially cultural differences in the south side that differs it from the north. The south side received more european/exterior affluence. It got populated mid 1950s by affluent families finding more space and a better climate. And it got evolved that way, when you get to the south side you notice more modern and neat places than the rest of the city, and a more mestizo european DNA. And when the green teleférico got inaugurated there was a controversy. The people living on the south got mad because now people from el Alto city (indigenous city) could get to “their” zone in less than than 20min, which before teleférico it was an hour trip. They are a lot of cultural/social differences. People from el Alto have more andean costumes. It’s a very interesting topic

Awesome additional information, thanks! And welcome to the channel!

@@ScottAlanMillerVlog yeah there was a cultural shock when the teleférico inaugurated, the more isolated exclusive part of La Paz where wealthy families lived got opened up to citizens from the poorer city of El Alto. But the social/economy barriers progressed, el Alto has rich Cholets now and the people there have money now from informal commerce, the only differences now would be the cultural/social ones . Again great content!!

@@ScottAlanMillerVlog hey i got a question, i’m curious what you do for living what’s your company. You mentioned it on your videos but i didn’t quite get it. You seem very knowledgeable immersing yourself on the countries context and culture and being very open minded to the differences. That’s very neat which differs from other channels where they seem clueless about where they are. It’s very important to now the social and cultural implications of regions wherever you go, that always fascinated me

It may be hard to believe but La Paz was founded in 1548.

Not too surprising. The city I live in was 1524. What is amazing is that they got that high in the mountains by 1548!

The southern area of La Paz is a bit similar to Cochabamba with the difference that the buildings in the southern area of La Paz are taller, but yes, the buildings in Cochabamba have a more modern architecture and with balconies.

You think disabled people can use the teleférico and by what you experienced there is La Paz suitable for people in wheelchair using people ? I’d love to live in La Paz !

If you watch the video, you can roll right onto it. Seems to be that it would be viable. I believe that there were elevators, too.

Is personal safety a concern while walking the streets of La Paz?
@ScottAlanMillerVlog
@ScottAlanMillerVlog 9 месяцев назад
NOt anywhere that I went. Watch your pockets, of course. But it was a very safe city, at least in the areas that I went to. Obviously if you go into poor barrios things will be expected to be less safe. But Bolivia is in general rather safe and tourist areas were extremely safe and nice.
