Sam still rocks full gear on downhill stuff. Most bmx riders like those helmets so they can see much better. They don't have rocks or trees or I know terrain on their runs. I think the whole less pads makes you a more of a bad ass is lame. He uses his gear in a fashion that keeps him most safe.
Yeah i agree but the 2 local bros really put it down. I think they over scored Max's run although it was good enough for 3rd probably rather than 2nd but otherwise i thought the podium was correct. Sam shoulda got 4th or 5th though i believe
@@charlesgrigson6436 watched it live and even the Polish speaker that led the comp was also surprised that Sam did not land higher. I would say 4th or 5th for sure. Amazing contest.
Yeah I've been binge watching my way through Sams channel lately and the mentality "That was sooo death, awesome!" shines through. Normal people get afraid and bail while Sam gets just as afraid and does it anyway.
I know this place. Live not far away from there... Whoever built those drops and jumps must be mental ! One mistake and you're a wet stain on concrete.
So pleased to see you do so well in this event Sam. You did yourself proud with that run, we were all rooting for you! Any event is better for having you in it!
Watched it yesterday dude you stomped it, amazing run defo should of scored more. Sam Pilgrim is Slopestyle so glad you are hitting contests again, they are better for it! 🤘🤘🤘
As a fan, this was the best video. Amazing to see the progression through the whole event and hear the emotions your were experiencing. Brought a tear of joy. Also, super insightful for the slopestyle scene. FOR THE VLOG
I'm so stoked for both Szymon and Dawid Godziek 🔥 They couldn't compete at crankworx last year so they had to get a wildcard in order to compete at crankworx again. And they both managed to get it 👌 Szymon got his at Copenride (he finished second and Emil already is in cwx so Szymon got the wildcard) and Dawid got it at roof ride 👍
@@gabareaper copenride is an fmb world tour Gold event and I read on their website that the winner will get a wildcard for Crankworx (if the winner already is in cwx, the 2nd place gets the wildcard and so on)
Watched it on the live feed ...didn't tell me 7 year old son that you were doing the comp ,as he thinks your great ......and when he saw you he shouted .....that's sam !!! He was ,and I was chuffed to bits ,you did so well...look forward to watching you at audi nines ...Good luck ..
As a musician, I know the feelings of nerves at a big event, but that feeling when you know you crushed it is so awesome. Those times when you can get out of your own head are what dreams are made of. I don't think any of the younger guys are better than you, but remember when you were younger, you didn't think as much about the 'what ifs'. It is all mindset, but as we get older our knowledge and ability to conjure up doubts grows. I know that I am my own worst critic at times I don't need too be. Sam you still kill it and have fun, thanks so much for taking us along on your rides.
I absolutely love the inside view into professional competition riding. Keep it up. From the outside, I don’t think I ever considered that the pros were scared or nervous. They always look so calm and collected, and it’s cool to see the real emotions of it.
Dude - awesome run on a terrifying course, keep smashing it! You're not old, not by a long shot. I'm 47 and I just took up downhill mountain biking last year and I'm F'ing loving it, and still ripping it on a snowboard. You got loads of life left in you yet, my man. Age is just an attitude!
Hey Sam , DudeI have been a stuntman for 32 years, I still ride everyday!!! Horses, dirtbikes, and MTB's . I know a few things about managing & dealing with the fear factor lol. I think you are super honest about your experience. It will certainly help & inspire some young bucks. You are real, humble and damn good at what you do! You made me grin from ear to ear the whole time ! Hahahahaha. I also think something got underscored ..79...hummm.. You still got it though ! Enjoy that stuff for as long as you can ! The feeling of overcoming fear ! Once you committed, there is no way back, and the doors of an indescribable hurricane of emotions open ! ( Or pain..lots of pain lol when it go sideways :)) , and if there was 0 hesitations & 100 % commitment , hell, it was still a good try! These emotions are worth millions ! For many , that feeling may happen a few times in their lifetime. We get to Experience that on daily basis, pretty much. As as we get older , these memories will make us still feel like we've done this and still make us feel good! Ultimately , no regrets ! A life well spent with tons of fun, Amazing moments that no one can take from you ! I am so glad I saw you doing this ! Yeah..yeah I liked & subscribed ! Hahahaha Keep'em coming dude ! You rock !
I love seeing you back in comps, man! The hype-train boards whenever you come up on the broadcast. Even though you said "I can't do cashrolls and stuff like the top boys," I think you 100% have earned a place among the current best Slopestyle riders in the world.
So good to come along with you in this tournament, thanks for taking us and sharing this experience. Loved every minute of this video seeing how pumped you were !
I was watching Red Bull TV yesterday, and was totally surprised to see Sam Pilgrim up next 😎 Couldn't wait to see your post of the event, and then Audi nines next week!!!
If u think you're too old for contests i got 2 words for you: Ryan nyquist. He was almost 40 before he ever rode a mountain bike and ended up competing for 1 or 2 yrs on the pro tour and doing fairly well. Granted he was a multi-time multi-discipline bmx world champ as well, but just goes to show...you're certainly not too old and even if u can't get back to that top spot or even back in the top 5...nobody cares. We love u and all your videos regardless. We all know what a badass u are on a bike so u don't have to prove anything to anyone at this point. Nobody watches this channel based on your world tour slopestyle finishes.
Absolute legend in the sport! I can't imagine strappin' into my bindings and pulling a run like I could when I was 17 - 20, now that I'm 32. Cheers to you livin' your best life!
This session was even better than Copenride. What CPH did wrong was to put the location in such an open location, no tall buildings to block the winds. Seems Poland Session was better suitable and successful. Well done, Sam... Cheers from Copenhagen.
Imagine being so good that it’s not even dangerous or scary. I can’t believe this event will even raise enough money to pay for the construction of that structure
Sam, that is so cool. You are an inspiration to all of the old guys. I’m 48 and learning to jump and ride downhill - all because of your videos. TSG protection, MTB Hopper Coach ramp, Pilgrips, Ride Concepts Wildcat shoes, etc. I’m trying to send it! Thanks so much for making the content!
Probably the best vid Sams done for me. Awsome behind the scenes, genuine emotion and if anyone thinks hes just stairs and skate parks?..... well there you go. Absolute legend 👊
I love that your getting back out there and competing even though The too guys are crazy good you are going there to compete and do your best runs for yourself which is awesome. Your still the best urban rider out there Sam plus who can flair a free bike? Just you
Awesome seeing you compete again.👍👍 Love watching this because there's a lot of us older guys. You prove and inspire people to ride. Your still pushing the youth to keep up and push further. You Sir are a massive inspiration to a very wide generation 👊👊
Awesome dude you smashed it! Wonderful stuff dude and thank you very much for all the wonderful entertainment you have provided for us and thank you from me and my Channel!⭐️👍❤️🤙
It was sick to see you doing so well, imagine you did that oppo t/whip to hop whip up the top. As it was the judging was a bit inconsistent I had you higher than 10th! Best of luck at 9's the course is looking amazing!
There are some epic clips for the intro in there! Dude I could really feel the tension in this video, I kinda started sweating a bit when you did the run :D
Thanks so much for taking us on the ride with you! Would love to hear a vlog where you talk about fear and how it plays a roll in the tricks/features you tackle. Thanks so much man!
I watched so many of your videos recently and you do absolutely crazy things. Hearing you speak of being scared, you, as the ultimate mad lad, was just crazy! I am sure those drops look 10x more intimidating in real life than on video. Cameras hardly ever capture the scope of such set-ups. Keep up the great work!
LEGEND. Even my wife loves you. What a boy! The Brit Legends are the best. We live in wonderful times. Well for biking anyways. Peace and love LEGEND.😁
Sam you are a legend! Bloody awesome riding. Your overall persona & love of life is “THE BEST”. I loved listening to the other riders (on live coverage) Matt Jones etc & the love & respect they have for you! 🙌🏽🙌🏽👊🏽 Can’t wait for Audi 9’s!
That was amazing Sam...you still managed to pull some world-first tricks man, that's not just "keeping up" with the young guys, you're a trailblazer Sam you've show them the way and they took off. Everyone is sending your tricks (e.g. Emil with the windshield wiper) now and they're taking it further as they should...but without you being the pathfinder that you are, this wouldn't have been even possible. That's why everyone loves you and respect you so much Sam... you're unique. 💪🏻😎
Watched the whole event yesterday, amazing job Sam! Second run definitely deserved a higher score but it's just cool seeing you back out at events. Almost even better without Emil there just knowing someone else could step up. 10/10!
Nice to see Max and Tom having fun too. Sam is like your slacker mate who always got up at 12 and went on to earn far more than you doing something he loves!
So stoked for you to be back in contests Sam, and loved seeing the contest from a behind the scenes vlog perspective, also 10th place not bad for an old guy haha
Sam, that's sooooooo good!!! Let me tell you you're not old and you'll have fun for many years to come. I'm 56 now jumping a 7ft high wooden ramp in my garden :)
Oh man, your videos always make me feel so good, but this one was like if I was riding in that contest. Thanks Sam for letting us live THE DREAM with you and for sharing the joy of conquering your fears with us. Cheers!!!
I know the top guys might have bigger tricks that are judged more favorably, but your a total shredder man. Wish I had 1/10th of the skill you have on your bike! Dusty would've been proud!
I think this is favorite video I've watched of the last couple of years I've followed. You had some great runs and @redbullbike should be thankful for all the extra traffic.
Hey Sam, it’s great to see you smashing out some BANGERS at this contest and Rollin your way back into contest life. Love your work Sam.✌🏼Out n 🤘🏼On Mate
This is the first competition vlog I have seen since finding Sam's channel. First video i watched was Urban Downhill in Colombia. Way to go Sam, make us old guys proud ;)
He said that second run was everything he wanted, the riders are also used to only traditionally doing two runs. He absolutely should have gotten at least an 85 on that second run. Even Rob and Matt were surprised. Just cool to see him at events though.
You say about you being the "old guy" and _just_ keeping up with the young guys. I will guarantee that all those younger riders were hella stoked to be shredding with you and being propped up and supported by your super positive attitude. Plus, seeing you being freaked out and bringing the confidence to the table I am sure helped them have more confidence as well. As much as this is a competition, it seems like its a team effort amongst all the competitors. That is amazing. 🙂
