There's nothing like riding a Gold Star, todays riders wouldn't put up with it, the quirky starting , no idle carbs, noisy, but the reward when on the road especially a twisty road was unbeatable.

Icing on the cake? We ancients remember that the DBD 34 had first rate handling. Putting that fine motor into a featherbed is fun, but not really necessary. Here, Norton 650ss.

goldie was a poor man's manx, which was a poor nation's 'otto cylindri' racer. in street tune, it was still faster than other 500's, but save up and get a 650 twin, if you had to go a little faster than other lads at the milk-bar.

Nothing "poor man" about it. Actually, a Gold Star cost more than an A10 650 in the 1950s. It was a premier model then and now. The Gold Star has been recognized as the "most versatile" motorcycle ever built. It won on road race circuits, dirt track (half-mile, mile and TT), scrambles, motocross, desert, trials, etc., and could be ridden to work and back every day. Thanks for checking in!
