"This is the train of the future I imagined when I was a child..." - same here. When I was a kid, the future seemed to be much more nicer, brighter, more interesting than what we today expect the future to be like.
The thing is, life is just that. But also everything else. Since the beginning and most likely till the end, life is inherently subjective, with peace and chaos and everything in between.
I really enjoy your videos of Japan. Everything is so clean and technologically advanced. In the US it is quite the opposite and so very sad. I have hopes of coming to Japan when the Covid virus settles down ( if ever) because I’ve always had so much respect for Japanese culture. Thank you!
Absolutely stunning! I had to look up the one in Germany too. These monorails are amazing! They really do feel like what you'd imagine the future of mass transit to be like! I love all the cute liveries on them too. Thank you for sharing!
The really great thing about them is that you can make use of otherwise unused space, without digging expensive tunnels. The one in Wuppertal, Germany has its tracks mostly above a small river and city streets. I was there a few times, and it's a fantastic thing - riding them is like fyling in a tram.
@@christophdeelmann6970 I honestly hate people calling things "unused space," like humans have to work their way and put their things anywhere and everywhere, otherwise the space has no purpose and just, well, takes up space. It's like when people say that the world isn't overpopulated because there's so much "unoccupied space" out there. We don't own this planet and we don't have the right to take up every inch of space. Something doesn't need to have a purpose to us in order for it to exist.
This might not be applicable in the US. The NIMBY will have a field day complaining about how it ruin their view, and then there will be some stupid environmental report that will ultimately kill the project. Any large scale mass transit project in the US is a chore to get off the ground.
I loved seeing not only the various types of flying monorails, but also a glimpse of the parking lot full of bikes around 7:11, what an amazingly designed transportation system all around!
So quiet inside! I think this one goes slower because for what i saw, compared with the last one, this one has more frequent altitude level ups and downs. It would be more aggressive at higher speed, i guess. Thanks again for the ride in your videos! :) Saludos
Cool, thank you so much for all your videos, especially the air tram videos. My mother (82 years old) and I watched with treat, were delighted. Thanks to your reviews, we seemed to have been to different parts of the world, where we will never be able to visit live, since there are no such means, opportunities, since there is no chance to get out of this terrible country, where we live. Thank you from all our hearts, my elderly mother and mine!!🤩🤩🤩😘😘💖💖💖🤍❤🤍
There was one more suspension monorail in Ueno Zoo. Although it runs only within the zoo property it is actually classified as "public transport"。Sadly it has ceased operation 3 years ago.
Hi Kuga. Great video as usual..You have made me fall in love with Japan. Just wondering if you could do a series of JR Rail Pass destinations for your International viewers that want to come to Japan..That would be amazing. It just seems confusing in videos i have watched from others about travelling the JR Pass..Once again thank you for your content, Your friend from Australia..Bryan
I agree with your assessment of the differences in the ride between the two monorails. The first was like a slightly scary amusement park ride. This one was much smoother and calmer.
I used to hang around chiba sta before. Rarely use this monorail as transportation but it is used to be there in my sight with my good memories there in chiba. Kinda nostalgic.
Getting a bird's eye view whilst avoiding all the traffic problems below. Unusual markings on the carriages but I do like that little red motif one which I suspect is a special Japanese brand. Almost you can say that you fly. Great trip but I do prefer the other one you did. Thanks for sharing. Bushyboy Oz.
These are actually like the Düsseldorf airport and Dortmund university monorails which use the same SAFEGE box-type guideway. There's an enclosed bogey with rubber tires to provide good traction. The Wuppertaler system uses its own system more like a standard steel wheel and rail (albeit with side flanges to keep the wheel on the track).
The nicest thing about Japan is still the fact that you can reach a lot with public transport. Not everything, but quite a lot, and you usually get to see a lot that can't be done with a car.
This would been grafitied like crazy in us or europe but japan nope love how they keep things in public clean and neat and are no nonsense about it,reminded me of those cool sci fi shows or mouvies
Another wonderful video Kuga! Thank you for the tour of this line on such a bright sunny day in Chiba City! Did you notice that the train cars painted black on the ends appeared to have windows facing downward? That would make a wonderful view. Perhaps the next time you are in Chiba City you can take one of these trains and give us a view straight down?
That's right. I had the misfortune of having to use this monorail in April and my particular one had those damned windows in the bottom of the door. I didn't like it one bit! I am not very good with heights! Next time, I'm going by car! 😜
@@00ta Can you give me a time stamp where it is visible? Looking at the underside as at 2:50 onwards I can only see a light blue stripe. Ah, at 3:14 there seems to be a window under the front end. (Also visble at 4:02) For the driver perhaps?
@@svennoren9047 Sure, it's around 4:03. There are two types of Chiba monorail trains: 1000 series and 0 series. The 0 series train has a nifty floor window in the driver's cab, through which we can enjoy the view beneath. They installed the windows only there, perhaps not to embarrass passengers in skirts.
While these systems are really cool and futuristic, I can why they're not actively used. If you ever have a train break down on the track you don't have an emergency exit or pathway for people to take. At least with an L train people can walk on the bridge in an emergency.
Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel. The time is 08:47 AM. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees, with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times. This train is inbound from Level 3 Dormitories to Sector C Test Labs and Control Facilities. If your intended destination is a high-security area beyond Sector C, you will need to return to the Central Transit Hub in Area 9 and board a high security train. If you have not yet submitted your identity to the retinal clearance system, you must report to Black Mesa Personnel for processing before you will be permitted into the high security branch of the transit system
This train should be researched and improved. A lot of cities in Asia are planning to build long flyovers and elevated highways that span the whole of their cities. City planners and engineers should see whether it is feasible to construct these tracks o underneath elevated highways, without a separate elevated track for them.
