I am a new rider and have a Suzuki boulevard c50t, which came with a windshield and got used to it for the last year or so. To be honest I never even tried to remove it, so I can't really compare. Maybe I'll give it a try soon so I can better have a enough experience to compare both, but I can definitely say that I like the way I do not receive much push from the wind on my chest right now.
Yeah, windshields do make a difference on the wind. I don’t mind the wind. A person gets used to it after a while. Any long distances, or colder weather, and I put it on. Otherwise if it’s a 100 mile or less day, I usually keep it off. Thanks for watching and welcome to the channel!
@@TWOWHEELD Oh, another factor that brought me to consider experimenting without it is that I want to start recording videos and I think the windshield might be on the way of the camera on my shin? Still need to try that in the next few weeks though.
It’s very possible. You can get a pretty good idea in my videos of how it would be. Some videos I have the windshield on and most I don’t. I tend to get more issues with my microphone when I have the windshield on. It’s a problem I need to correct.
Here in Michigan its not just the wind, we also have a lot of bugs. We also have a short riding season due to cold temperatures, so the shield greatly helps there. Regarding fogging of your helmet's visor: There are visors (only for certain helmets?) that have two plastic shields with a thermal air gap between. So the inner shield does not get super-cooled such that your breath fogs up on it. Works great and has no downside.
Yeah, pinlock helmets are supposed to help the fogging quite a bit. I have never had one. I see some people using rain x or wax or other things. Windshield definitely helps reduce the amount of bugs on the face shield as well. When it gets colder, the windshield definitely goes on the cut down that air against the body. Makes a big difference. Thanks for watching!
Never had a motorcycle with a windshield, so I can not have an opinion of something I do not know about. I am sure it could be beneficial for long trips though.
I took my windshield off of my VTX last year. Loved it the way. This is my first summer with full fairing. I have wore the 1/2 helmet lots just due to the heat but did wear the full face when I went to KS over the 4th & had it cracked a lot. It amazes me how much warmer it is behind this fairing.
I have often thought about getting a batwing style fairing for both the bikes. This would be in place for those longer trips instead of the windshield, just to add some style. Do you find you get about the same wind protection as a standard windshield?
@@TWOWHEELD Ummm, I think there is more with the batwing but there is ALOT more real estate out in front. In comparison to my VTX windshield I think long trip wise I had considered a Batwing for it too and probably would have if I had kept it. But I would have put it on and kept it on I don't know that taking those on and off are very easy just because of the weight and size. I have a friend that put one on his Heritage and seems to like it but again he leaves it on all the time.
@@GoodLifeRiders that’s good information. Thank you! I haven’t done a lot of research into then, only have seen how they look. I will have to check into something like you have on your VTX as well. I am always looking to explore different possibilities!
I enjoy the ride without the windshield, however, if traveling long distances I definitely put my windshield on for my RKS. Either way I’m riding so I’m happy! Be safe dude!🤘🏾
I love riding a naked bike! Don’t get me wrong, there are times I have the windshield on - like long rides and cold weather. It is off most of the summer though! Thanks for watching!
From Australia. Riding my sons ktm 790 duke without a windshield. Feels great most of the time but every now and then it's a bit wild. When I get my next bike- either a Honda cb650r or mt07 - I will definitely add a windshield. Just that bit better riding on the blustery days. Cheers
Welcome. Riding without a windshield has its pros and cons for sure! Those blustery days it sure is nice to have. I keep the windshield off my Honda Shadow, but take it on and off of my Road King. Just depends on the weather. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It does feel good and free without a windshield. However in this part of the world riding to places like Dauphin Island you need one. Around the bay and close to waterways you NEED the windshield. Too many bugs...hitting them at speed hurts.
I have never tried a windshield but I am sure that I would feel a little more free without it, the less things I wear I feel better, I am wearing a helmet, jacket and gloves just for my safety 😎
It definitely makes a difference. If I’m going to do any larger amount of miles, I definitely throw mine on. Cuts down on the overall fatigue pretty significantly.
I know at times it can be pretty hot wearing gear, but a person just has to weigh the risks and what they are comfortable with. I will always have jeans on and close toed shoes. When I don’t have a jacket, I tend to wear a vest. It seems the best helps so the shirt doesn’t beat me up from flapping around. 😆 Hopefully you are beating the heat down there so far this year! Thanks for watching and ride safe!
