Pretty underwhelming tbh: In comparison to the GSD S10 it lacks the loading capabilities of the front rack (GSD 20 kg, your version 8 kg), the stand (Atlas lock stand can be unlocked while standing on the bike), loading capabilities on the long tail (GSD 100 kg, your version 65 kg), it weighs the same as the GSD and costs even more! So why should I buy your product instead the GSD S10?
As standard Multitinker have front rack intergrated 625wh battery,Bosch smart system and Gsd have no front rack, 500wh battery.Maybe when you add these the price is quite close.
No...s10 front rack first of all is optional...so if you wanna whine compare apples to apples...don't complain about a non optional rack and then boast about a non optional battery....what a dumb argument
I wish it could be equipped with the Bosch cargo line. I think it's a miss that they use the Performance Line CX motor as it really missed that extra push that's needed on the hills. It it's designed as a class 1 bike with speed limit 20mph *and* is designed for Cargo, why not use the best Cargo motor available? I would understand a choice of Performance Line if one could get the Multitinker in Class 3 and have the ability to go to 28mph when carrying low cargo (eg after kids drop off and one needs to continue the commute by yourself). The in-frame bag is nice. But as other comments have posted, the winning option for me for class 1 cargo long tail is still the Tern GSD with Bosch Cargo line and a second battery. For class 3, the Multicharger Mixte wins for me.
I have a GSD R-14, the top tier model that has the Rohloff gear shift, 2 batteries, and belt drive. I replaced the Intuvia with the Kiox display. It has 3 sets of accessories: a giant food delivery box, a crate if I need to hold anything without the limit of a ceiling, and back seat, the captain's chair. I do deliveries as a side hussle and am exploring a e-bike taxi service. I like that the Multitinker has a cache box (its the same spot where my GSD's 2 batteries are), and that the battery is inside the frame. I hope they get an option where you can put a second battery, a Bosch Power Pack over the where the battery is. This is a better use of space IMO. the Multitinker should have a bottle cage, they could put where the seat tube is. My GSD has 3 (I drink water, juice, tea) within the reach of the driver., by the frame, 2 more on the back side of the front rack. The back seat, the Captain's chair, you can add 2 more, so your passenger can easily reach for drinks. The beauty of a cargo bike is all the real estate you have, putting bags, crates, boxes, seats on top of or hanging panniers off of (I can hang 4, 2 on the front rack, 2 on the side of the back). If the Multitinker can have the bike sit up like my GSD can that would be great.
Great post. Really informative. It seems that Tern have pretty much mastered the smaller scale, long-tail cargo bike as they've done so many iterations, worked out the bugs and optimised load space. I think this bike will appeal to those who like the brand identity and reputation of R&M based on the load which is their own domain of mastery.
A simultaneous use of Safety Bar and bags is possible in principle. You can also configure the model with this equipment. Feel free to take a look at our website: www.r-m.de/en-en/bikes/multitinker/
Am I the only one who LOVES that integrated lockable frame bag? I would love for it to be available on the Supercharger. But I'd prefer for it to have a key lock. Maybe it could be the same key as for the batteries.
