Nina O'Brien: The other ladies were saying that you completed (well) two runs on probably the toughest course they've skied all season. You didn't fall which has been your propensity to a degree. It seemed you gained their respect as one of them. That is an accomplishment. They will likely expect you to keep getting better; and that should make things easier for you in the future. Congratulations! The World Cup points were good too. I looked at the list of competitors. They all looked like top competitors, so you can be proud. It was a good way to end the season. As a note for practice you had more trouble on top with the steep and ice than others (even some you beat). You need to practice your transitions in this kind of situation. You too often got off balance (both sideways and back and forward). You need to be smoother in this area. You likely already know what to do; you just need more practice in doing what you know in this situation. Part of your trouble may have been that you tried to turn too tightly in one particular gate at the top. It seemed to screw you up for more than one gate. The general rule for picking and changing you line is: Take a higher line for steeper, icier, and tighter course parts. You have to learn to blend these factors together to your racing strategy. Being smoother throughout the course by doing this well will by itself make you faster.

Nina O'brien: When I talk about a higher line, I, in the one gate at the top I mentioned, meant a lower approach to the gate that meant you were farther away from the gate. This allows more room to make the turn. For technical racers/thinkers this actually makes sense, even if it seems not to. As a point you might be interested in, Jorg told me that a good way to hold on ice is to extend the arm on the side of the outside ski forward and low. This actually works. I told Petra Vlhova this; and she seemed to use it to good effect.
