iPad apps are the bargain of the synth/electronic world. iPads are so powerful, even the entry level ones. I love TAL UNO-LX on the iPad, as a former Roland Juno 106 owner, I'd have to say its SPOT ON. I will check out Riffer, looks awesome!

Bitchin!! Just want to point out this app works pretty similarly to what the NDLR can achieve in a Hardware format. In the NDLR you can have 4 parts. 1-Drone,2-Pads, 3-Motif I, 4-Motif II (synth arpeggios) And it can also add chords with scales. If you add ChordJam (also from Audiomodern) You can match what The NDLR does including the chords part. Now if you ad Playbeat 3 (also from Audiomodern) You can add the drum part and have an ultimate controller. Excelente production value on your videos. I like how you explained the setup connection in the beginning 👏

Learned about this recently in an MPC Group. Watching video now and already downloaded of course. Haven’t found a way to do chords so far nor gotten it to work with Garageband’s Alchemy Synth. Works fantastic with the AudioKit Synth’s on iPad.

You can sorta kinda fake it using the last row on the right major/minor triad etc Just tested in Cubasis 2 and works well. SampleTank and Alchemy in Garageband thus far VEXING me :)

Maybe not, guess it was just because I was using Pads earlier that the Triads sorta sounded as tho they were playing chords. Could always capture the MIDI data and manually copy paste up and down a few semitones to create chords. I think Ableton has a gadget that will automate it even.

Thanks so much! I have a question. When I use Riffer in Aum with an internal synth app does it sound off kilter? The sequence hesitates or sounds out of whack. Is there a reason its doing this?

I can't tell for sure what is causing your issue, but if I had to guess, I would think it might be a problem with Ableton link being turned on in both AUM and Riffer? Make sure Ableton link is not turned on inside of Riffer and that riffer is set to follow host tempo. Could also be a buffer issue if you are running at a high buffer rate, too low buffer rate, or pushing the iPad's CPU too hard in general. A hard reboot of the iPad often helps, too. It's hard to say without actually seeing your issue. 👊 I don't have any sync problems with Riffer. 👊

@@jaysgood10 Hard to explain. The riff stutters and doesn't play in a 4/4 time even though all the settings are correct. It doesn't play the arpeggio smoothly. Its hesitates and glitches throughout. That's the best I can explain it. It sounds like a mess.

@@robbreeding9937 Check the Ableton Link settings, and also make sure you are not just simply pushing the iPad's CPU too hard in general? Trying to do too much at once will definitely cause hesitations, crackles and glitches throughout. Check your buffer settings for your audio interface. Set them to a higher number if you can to get more CPU power back at the expense of tight latency... It's a give and take sometimes.. 👊

Is riffer most useful for single mono lead lines? Have you found a workflow or AUM setup where one riffer could play chords/pads and another riffer could play leads over it and have it actually sound good? I’ve been using Autony and Cality for something similar but they are a bit buggy. Riffer looks more solidly developed.

Thanks for the reply... I suppose someone (with more time and patience than me at the moment) could write a Mozaic script that transposes notes to the nearest note in an input chord on another channel...

One suggestion... run Riffer into ScaleBud. In ScaleBud select chords. ScaleBud will create chords from single notes. Then run ScaleBud into your favorite synth/romp for random chords on the fly.

Cool video! I love all of these 3rd Party synths and sequencers but the biggest problem is how do you save the audio as a wav file to pull into your computer and mix on a Daw? Its like half of these machines are just made to noodle around on and give you no easy way to save the sound.

Yes you can do this and it works great with a lot of apps that normally wouldn’t work. Nothing happening with GarageBand unfortunately.

Can someone tell me why you need the iRig in this configuration? Why not just run the midi from the interface directly to the thru box?

I'm not sure I understand your question. 👊 You can't run midi from an audio interface that does not have midi output? The audio interface i'm using here (Novation Audio Hub 2x4) does not have a built in 5-pin midi port. You need the iRig to get USB midi talking to 5-pin midi. @@K.KILLORAN Depends on *exactly* what you want to do. I really like Beatmaker 3 for sending midi to hardware, but there are other midi sequencer options on iPad now, too. RIffer is extra special, becuase it has the ability to randomize every set # of bars, but stay in key - so it jams WITH you per se... Not if you are hosting is in the AUM app. Unfortunately, AUM only allows sync of midi OUT, not midi in. It's frustrating for sure. 👊

Can't wait to keep using it for my live jams in 2020! As far as I'm concerned - it's a *must have* for anyone doing any type of live jams on iPad. 💙

It's not just a sequencer. It is not like other sequencers. 😏 It's a randomized, generative, creative sequencer which works differently and has a new set of features than others. I love it. 💙 Of course you can get any sequencer you want, but not if you want to have ever-changing, generative, and random pattern creation like this - no other sequencer that I know of on iOS does this. 👍
