Holy crap, this piece is beautiful. I had to listen to it for an honor band audition. Best homework ever.

I've played this piece several times for the conductor competition at the WMC in Kerkrade 22. It was quite a performance and really gives you goosebumps

I played this piece literally 6 hours before posting this, and Goodness, this performance was beautiful! Without a doubt my favorite piece.

Love this piece. I had the wonderful opportunity of playing it with Pennsylvania's Cumberland County band just recently at Messiah College. What truly made this piece beautiful was the pipe organ. You could literally feel the sound shaking your core. A truly incredible piece that I will never forget.

+Jared Blaine Jealous. My community band played it last fall but we didn't have the pipe organ.

+Jared Blaine I was there too! Clarinets ftw :)

+Colleen Scott But what is truly beautiful is what is written on the actual music scores towards the end. About how no matter what we do, death will always take the ones we love. Measure 84. And gone...

+Jared Blaine My Daughter Gina Baldoni was there too and my son Dominic played principal flute on this piece with the North Texas Wind Symphony last year. Love it!

@The United States Army Band "Perishing's Own" The symphonic band at my school played this piece. And it was absolutely beautiful. I loved listening to this song from you too. By the way, the school I go to is Louisville Male High School, if you want to check the symphonic band out. They have a lot of potential, and they love to work together and play together. When they play, to me, its like a whole different world appears. you know? Im in the concert band at Louisville Male High School, and I aspire to be in the symphonic band one day. Thanks for reading this comment and hearing me out. :)

I lament the lack of expression from the english horn solos; the composer set up the EH to exhibit vast amounts of musicality, and this particular performance is severely lacking in that respect where the EH solos are concerned. And why is it so bloody slow in places???

I’m mean, there isn’t a spot that goes faster than 66 and the slowest is like 40 bpm

I agree with you in the fact that the there is very little freedom given to the English horn solos but I disagree in the fact that that the piece isn’t “slow” is expressive and I quite enjoy the swaying of time that they take.
