was just watching some vid of code orange and thought it was really cool to see woman jamming those tunes and wanted to know more.. and now im here really thinking it was a man all along.
Saw them live opening for Korn in March. I knew of her but hadn’t checked her out yet. Couldn’t take my eyes off her playing. Energy was infectious. The whole band was actually.
That awesome man! I was actually wondering if she is a KoRn fan, judging by her pedalboard it sort of looks similar to Munkys pedalboard. I remember KoRn always talking about that tube screamer pedal back in the day.
She’s one of my favorite guitarists, so happy to see her on here. She deserves so much more recognition for both her playing and attitude towards music.
I LOVE how she dissed all the RU-vid guitarist “influencers “….. it’s sad when they’re getting the signature models instead of the actual gigging musicians who need them. (Save for Fluff, he breaks the mold).
Yes. IMO give guitars and amps to actual musicians that are starving. Not a RU-vid guitarist that’s making money. As an opening band, they aren’t making much if any money at all.
That's the only 'controversial' or opinionated thing I've ever seen or heard Reba say too--normally she's extremely polite to everyone. And this isn't the first time she's said it either. Just goes to show you how much she despises influencers. And why wouldn't she? Her band's been on the road playing shows since they were teens--sometimes playing in garages and sleeping in basements. Meanwhile RU-vidrs can get comfortably famous because of their looks or a gimmick or cover songs.
It’s a shit thing to say. Just because someone sits in their bedroom all day playing guitar, they reach millions more people than she can touring when they upload videos to RU-vid. It doesn’t mean they work at it any less than her either.
@@thegoodguy44 stevie T had the chance to leave youtube and make real music on stage. But wussied out. Now days they call it anxiety or whatever. But in my day we called it not being able to cut it.
Based on several interactions I've had or heard about with her I'd say she's exactly how you think. Even though Reba (deservedly) gets the most attention of anyone in her band she constantly builds the guys up and tries to shift credit to them. And while having the mouth of a trucker she's quite cerebral too: good chess player and went to college for orchestral flute.
this rules. sick signature guitar, very pragmatic choices to deliver her and the band's vision. pedal setup reminds me of Agata from Melt Banana (minus the delays). as for the beeping, clearly a lot of folks here haven't worked around a scissor lift before...
10:19 - 10:25 + 11:00 - 11:06 Obviously it's a matter of taste and I may have misunderstood something but on a 24.75" scale guitar for drop B (and drop Bb) the .54 low E string is not very stable from intonation point of view.
Made the mistake of listening to the Underneath album while on a night drive. The dread that music induces was something I never experienced in any other album. I want to see them live someday.
I remember listening to that album the night it came out at about 12 or 1 am coming back from somewhere. With the long day I had and as tired as I was, that album was a terrifying soundscape. I haven’t seen them on their Underneath tour but when they toured Forever, I saw them about 4 times…that was the only band I never pitted to. Absolutely insane shows.
Goddamn, I was swearing around house, closing up all the windows asking myself where that beeping sound was coming from... Then I've putted the video on pause
My old band did a bunch of shows with Code Orange Kids (their old name, when they were all 15 years old) and Reba was the most quiet person I've ever met. Fast forward 10 years and rockstar points later, she's a foul-mouthed noise creator.
Haha I think it's clear she'd still rather be quiet, just forced to talk and do press because she's the most popular member of the band and people get tired of listening to only Jami talk.
We're a thrash metal band, but Reba and Code Orange influence me (lead guitar and vocals) to just do what sounds right and be EXPRESSIVE. Glad I found this video.
Ok so she sounds like she is humble and cool as regular chick. Sounds like it would be fun to talk shop with her. Guess I’ll be looking into the band now.
The wave of 'brief' relief when the guy finally figures out how to back up his truck , then the cruel wave of disappointment and disdain when they say 'um, yeah...I'm not done'.
22:25 Could have segmented this off with its own marker/title too: "Breakdown of various shit" Or maybe "Here a shit, there a shit, everywhere a shit shit"
What a kickarse approach and mindset. I agree with so many of her creative choices, I wish I had her focus and talent. Chris is a great interviewer too.
I think this is the first time I've heard of her(I've heard their songs, but I have 0 info about the band), and I'm a fan already. Love how she approaches her shit.
Her in-ear situation can easily be solved with the new ambiance constructed earphones where you get in-ears but has pores inside to capture the feel of stage volume. Don't remember the brand name but it's out there!
And if it's sounding like it's too much "in her head", which mono signals panned central can, you can add ambience to just the guitar signals, pan live mic left and axe right, etc, etc. Lots of tricks to try.
17:25 wow that’s kinda ignorant. I’m all about tube amps, id never use digital myself But 2 big reasons that I can see anyone using digital is one.. maintenance re tubing a head is expensive af.. Two.. carry on/ weight.. my rockerverb head alone is 50 pounds, a lot of people especially touring musicians don’t wanna lug all that weight so ya I I can totally see why anyone would want to try to dial in a tube sound.. makes sense..
Cool guitars, cool board, cool rig and cool player, but 12-54 are neither "thick ass strings" nor "barb wire", IMO. Tuning to drop C on a 24,75" guitar, thinner strings easily go out of pitch on the attack, especially if you're like me and have a heavy right hand. I use 11-56.
I gotta say, I really dug this rig rundown until Chris started comparing the Tubescreamer to the Swollen Pickle. They don't even remotely do the same thing. One tightens up the amp, the other straps a chainsaw to its chest and runs screaming towards you, if you set it up right (in the case of how END uses the Pickle)...
I didn't compare the pedals ... one is an overdrive and the other is a fuzz - I was just asking if she had ever tried another pedal+amp combo that other heavy bands use like the End or she's always stuck with the OD (TS9)-into-amp formula. Hope that clears up my perspective when asking the question. Thanks for watching!
