I love John's rundowns. He doesn't become over effusive or ass kissy. He just listens to the guy he's interviewing and when he needs to open a can of knowledge he has them in spades... Cool guy man.

Yeah it’s great to see a lot of the young musicians not getting into drugs or heavy alcohol abuse like almost every player did back in the , 50’s 60’s 70’s and 80’s....and 90’s... shit it was almost every decade. Whether it was the jazz players with heroin or blues or rock players with every other drug ever created....it was thought of some kind of pre-requisite to becoming a next level player who played with soul and feel from actually having the real life blues or using psychedelics to be creative. It’s not the right way. If they all just stayed sober they would of all played better and at the least lasted a lot longer. Mike Bloomfield, all that talent, came from a rich family yet was a heroin addict and died from his addiction. It always bothered me and I just think back then before smart phones, the internet, social media... people really didn’t have much to distract them or focus their restless energy on. I’m sure Jimi taking acid made him play like an alien at times but he didn’t need it. I’ve been down that road and I think people are a lot smarter now and realize drugs and excessive drinking cause nothing but problems and and early death. When Stevie Ray for sober, he always talked about staying away from it and never glamorized it.

SRV played his best after getting clean and sober. I was blessed to see him a few months before his untimely demise (assassination or accident?). It was a traveling blues festival, with BB King (awesome performance) and other assorted musicians, at the Costa Mesa Amphitheater. SRV was the headliner, and he played most of his "In Step" recording. As the sun went down, SRV did an encore, sitting on a stool alone with "Lenny" (the stratocaster he played that song on), playing "Riviera Paradise". It still gives me chills thinking about it. Drugs and alcohol held SRV back, if anything, and he soared ever higher without them.

I saw an interview where T.B. tells a story about B.B. King grabbing him by the hands and making him promise not to use drugs. He speaks with awe of the feeling of Kings hands and all the music that had come through them. I guess when you make a promise to B.B. King you need to keep it! One thing you have to love about Tyler Bryant is that with all he's done he seems to have no ego and no attitude, and he never forgets the great players that came before him.

I've got to admit how stunned I am that there is this guy in rock that's somewhat successful complete with a $20.000. Guitar opening for Dwight Yokem at 14 and no one I know has ever heard of him or his band. It would seem that rock music is living somewhere whether I'm aware or not. Good on ya.

(It probably will) and they were also coming to Norway. So I bought the tickets to the show. Some time later, Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown was announced as support! And i have to say, musically, i was more impressed with them, than i was with Guns. Such a cool liveband, and such a good sound. And Tyler is such a cool guy.

I have followed Tyler since he had a myspace page with his version of “big legged woman” as one of his songs. He was quite young then. Have to say that I didn’t really care for the direction he took with his music and song writing. He is such a tasteful and soulful player and I don’t think the teen rock stuff does his playing justice. He does have tremendous energy and presence that will carry him further in his career. I wish he would branch out from the Shakedown and do somthing different.

They did one with Ernie Ball. They're pretty straightforward players. They each have their main instruments and a few pedals that they play through Fender Deluxe Twin Reverbs. They like Ernie Ball strings. I really like the new guitar development for Rebecca. She now plays an SG, and she's gettin' the sound out of it. I believe that she was inspired by Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, one of her all time favorite bands.
