Today the 25N Monarch is headed to its new home in Washington. Laventure Crane & Rigging of New Richmond, WI and Areawide Towing of Stillwater, MN are on scene to get this job done. These guys are the best in the business.
So, it is goodbye to an old friend, but good things are coming. The 25N Monarch lathe has been a workhorse here in the shop, but the Lion 23MT is a suitable upgrade. Things change in this world, but one thing is for sure. Topper Machine is here to stay and will remain a Manual Machine Shop.

Your forklift reminds me of the fork I learned how to operate back in the 80s the only difference was ours was a stand up

Thanks Josh for suggesting these two crews to move my new workhorse. I can hardly wait to run our first parts and experience the smooth and sure qualities of this American made Monarch. I guess I missed this video. We had a lot of machines moved where I worked at but they came on 1st shift and I worked on 2nd. Those guys made it looks so smooth.

As someone who has lived in the southern US all my life, moving something like that to another state on snow and ice would surely cavemen an ulcer. I am in awe of the great professionals who do this type of thing all of the time and make it seem so effortless.

The move went really well and it will be interesting to see the door replaced. We know someone over here that owns a equipment moving company and they do a great job too. They moved our large mill and lathe which involved craning it over our barn. Equipment moving videos would be cool

I too are a one man shop....Yes it's sad to see the Monarch go away.... Let mine go too. Has a small spindle bore thru hole I have now a 4-1/2" spindle thru hole lathe ....Mauser...Good machine. No wear. Have 7 lathes... Mauser, Lodge & Shipley, Hardinge , 4 Standard Moderns. Yes there is a need for good rigging videos. I been doing it for 55 years.

Good video Josh. Rigging and moving is something you learn and work up to heavier things. I have moved my 10,000 lb Pratt and Whitney 2A, and my 10,000 lb Giddings, and my 9,000 lb Rockford Planer all myself. I brought the planer 660 miles from NY to NC. Bought a tilt deck trailer to do that. It is all about learning and experiencing different scenarios. Riggers make it look easy, but there is a lot of thought that goes into moving things, as you well know. It is fun though. Just keep the shiny side up ! ----Doozer

A good rigging company is great to have in your area. We have a good one where I am and I have used them for nearly 20 years. I see you guys have a decent amount of snow. We have been buried up here, about 385 miles northwest of you. Ken
