Maam I just started dancing at 29..my Kathak teacher is really very nice and good.. and I dance with little kids in my class..I really have never felt more alive and young ..
I Started learning bharatanatyam at the age of 36,now I had completed my Madhyama pratham with distinction . I always felt passion for classical dance but couldn't do in my childhood.I never thought that some day I can learn it,I am very happy and thankful to my Guru .
Wow 😍 Your comment gave me a spark. I'm a South Indian but I always felt dragged to watching Kathak and trying to dance as a kid. As I was not interested in any other South Indian dance forms I didn't learned dance. I'm 27 now and from past 3-4 years I've this urge to learn Kathak. I feel like I'm missing something by not even trying to learn it. Like I should have done it as a child if I only found a Kathak teacher. I hope to find a good teacher near me now and my husband and in-laws to support my wish. I feel like I can do too as you learned.🙏🥰
Oh wow. You are inspiring me now. I am currently 47. And I am actually very much interested in learning kathak for 2 reasons. 1. I have been learning Hindustani classical vocal and learning kathak will help me with gaining mastery with taal. 2. Learning kathak will help as a form of exercise. I am really not interested in doing any stage performances in kathak as I am a singer. I am interested learning kathak for health purposes. To maintain good muscle tone and bone density and heart rate etc..
I'm 49 and have started learning Bharatnatyam with the encouragement of my husband and my guruji.Age is just a number and if we have passion,we can overcome all obstacles.Much love to you and your inspiring video,ma'am.Thank you so much❤️❤️
I started kathak when I was 8. But I stopped within 2 years. I'm 21 now. And i feel i belong to indian classic dance. There is always this energy that pulls me towards it. I started again and i feel like I am finally getting to know who I am. Honestly, i cant dedicate my entire time to it cause i am a fine art university student, but I always try to keep in touch with my roots. Thank you for this beautiful video guru ji🌹🙏
I was started kathak when I class 7 nd I completed 5th year ..then I not continue my kathak..but know 30 nd 5year kids mumma I teach her but I feel I forgot all my learning skills ..but m ab karna chah rhi hu but mujhe kuch samjh nhi a rha kaise Karu kaha se start Karu..
I started learning kathak at the age of 38, one the best decisions I took and never felt more alive and energetic 👍 it's been 3 yrs and journey will go on forever.
I used to learn dance by watching TV and movies. My parents never encouraged me. I stopped learning. But i knew dance is my passion. I wanted to make dance my career but couldn't. Now I look back and regret it. But your comment encouraged me. I am 40 and thinking to start learning it now. May be it will not become my career but I'll be happy and satisfied.
Hello guruma,..I started dance when I was only 3 years old. And now I stop it for my study, but I always practice dance, dance is my passion.often I learn your Katthak😊😊
I started learning Kuchipudi recently when I turned 26. I have always loved dance since childhood but could never learn any form due to unavailability of resources and my own negligence. Most people think it's impossible to learn at this age. Its a faux. I see little kids also find difficulty in learning. It is difficult for everyone in the beginning. Only with consistent practice, we get comfortable. I personally found 1st class very difficult and from 2nd, it is fine. I need develop more stamina but it doesn't seem impossible with incremental improvements that I could experience. My dance teacher asked me to take 1st level exam in the August. Go ahead if you want to learn. Don't let your age stop you. If you are someone who is already into fitness, then you need not fear anything. Habit of cycling, skipping, squatting are helping me cope better.
Wow sis thankyou for u r valuable advice and comment❤...Actulally I opened this vidoe to see whether I'm taking right or wrong decision and after reading u r comment I boosted up with confidence..S I love dance and now im21 years, I still dance but I don't know why I got interested in learning classical actually in childhood I dreamt for it but with some reasons I didn't try to learn...But, I decided now I'm gng to learn and I'll. Lots of love sis💕❤stay blessed ❤
As an older dancer myself looking to learn Kathak (I currently bellydance), I think a key component is also committing to a fitness routine in conjunction with dance practice to build up strength and flexibility for the movements.
Thank you Guruma for such a wonderful, inspiring video! I couldn't learn dancing before due to some family issues. But always felt the passion for this art form. After I became financially independent, I started learning Kathak at the age of 26 years. I had all those questions in my mind that you just discussed. But my passion for dance gave me all the encouragements needed to start learning at this age. I must say I feel wonderful when I perform this beautiful art form and hope to never stop dancing again. Need your blessings for my journey.
Namaskar guruma, now I am 53 age. One year ago I had started kathak dance. I watched ur dance and follow ur dance tricks. I am so happy now. Bless me mam🙏

I began learning kathak when I was 10 and gave up within a year. I'm 18 now and so want to go back to kathak. The swift movements and beautiful poses, i want to learn them. I'm glad I've found you and my old pair of ghungroos guruma
🌹🌹lots of love to you, your answer is just perfect 👌 I started at 50 after consulting doctor, continued learning and giving exams and testing myself till I got my visharad last year. You are such a inspiration for all dancers . Thanks for talking on this important Topic.
Thank u pali ji- i took only few workshops in india. Being over 45 then- having my first steps and experience- it is so reviving. When i came back to a beloved senior aged ladies group- for sharing yoga practice- they asked for additional kind of movement. So i applied some dance and hastaks movements ( inspired by ypur teaching) - these ladies over 70 years old- had suddenly grown wings and danced so happily as of they didnt have any injuries pr ailments- it was amazing to see how high spirit uplift the bodu. Thank u for your inspiring teachings. Be blessed with all the very best;)
Am 23 age old... Your vedio motivated me guruma.. I was panic to start up but meanwhile I see this vedio... Very happy... In my wrong time ur vedio made right thing
I started learning kathak at age of 31. Last month i passed Pradeshika purn.... I never thought in my childhood that I will learn any classical dance form in future. But now I am so happy that I am doing it from last 5 years. In between many sad incident happened in family but I didn't gave up. In fact whenever I do my kathak practice i felt motivated to face life challenges. Kathak is my medicine which help me keep calm in difficult situations.
Sakhi, really is it possible to learn dear?I am also at 38.my daughter has started to learn bharatnatya.I too want to learn yaar but thinking of the society and people.I am really curious to know your journey dear
I started to learn bharathanatyam at the age 2 just for an entertainment but but after stopping it I'm not able to concentrate on any thing. This made me to realize that the essence of the dance mixed with my soul.....
I'm a university student from Italy and I've always danced, though I've never done ballet or some serious technical courses. Last year I had to give up dance sadly but I always dance on my own because dance is a part of me that I can't ignore. Since I discovered it four years ago, I feel very connected to Indian classical dance and currently one of my biggest dreams is to learn Kathak and all the culture behind it. If I'm lucky I will join a course after I finish my studies and I find a job so I can pay for it. Meanwhile I'll watch all these videos on youtube 🥰🥰
You are my Dronacharya. By looking at your videos I got inspired and started learning Kathak at 44,and feeling more fit and flexible. Thanks. Age is just a number for counting purpose. All we need is to challenge ourselves everyday in all aspects. Thanks.
I've been learning about Indian culture, hindi for yrs & wanting to learn classical dance, as well. I was a dancer my whole life, until I got sick at 20yrs. It's been a long time struggling with my health, but dance is what is keeping me going. I'm not near a city that has in person classes, so I'll learn here. It does make me sad that I ask for permission to do the things that spark my spirituality & creative life. Maybe you can throw that in with the next lesson 🙏
And that also I said ma'am ur voice is so sweet that combination which goes like sweet voice + confidence + the way of speaking ❤️❤️❤️ that's damn good!!!!
The way u said it Madam, I felt like a huge booster and a signal to start everything I have stopped and given up earlier including dancing , swimming and studying......I am 19 ............Thanks a lot & love U sooo much Madam
Now i am 19 but i can't to learn a professional bharathanatyam but i have a so much of interest in this art . I feel that Dance is my breath but till now i don't know the step up to the dancer😢
I am 47 year old, i used to dance when i was small but never learned classical as had no opportunity. did my masters and my phd after i truned 42, and i decided now i want fo follow my passion, started with bharatanayam 6 months back, and i have to say i am loving it, i am a full time working person plus mother and i have to say the dance is the one thing i enjoy and i feel thats my me time. when i started it was hard, then i started to do yoga tried strecthing excercise beacuse no matter what i wanted my body to adapt to some thing what my heart and mind loves. so i have to say i pushed my body where my heart lies and i am there and i want to continue …….dance is what i want to do the rest of the life.
Well said Ma"am ..You are very graceful and always motivate ..👌🏻👏🏻 I love to dance but never got an opportunity to learn any dance form due to financial conditions of my parents ...But now I have started performing in society functions at the age of 51 for my own happiness ...I just do contemporary dance on each festival ..and get so many compliments ..
I just love the way you speak, you explain everything clearly... Love your voice..... I feel very good & very positive... You are amazing Guru MAA ❤️❤️

Maam I came across your video few days back. I always wanted to learn Kathak but as a child i went through open heart surgery and my mom didn't allow me thinking its too much of a physical stress. later on I was too embarrassed to join in person classes because of my age . I am 42 and healthy. I have decided to enroll in your online classes. I might not be able to fully perform with great energy but I believe i wont be left with regret. With your blessings i hope i can initiate this journey.

A very good evening Guru Maa. First of all I'm grateful that RU-vid suggested this video. And now that I'm watching you answering a most significant question that I myself have found my mind asking, here's something else I want to know from you - I'm 19 years old, way back when I was 11, I really tried to get into a dance academy but sadly my request was turned down by my parents. Now after years, I discovered that i still have the urge to learn this art, I still feel somewhere I'm connected to it despite my phobia, chorophobia. So, I want to know is it possible to get over my phobia and reach my fullest potential and is it possible to learn all those which I could've learnt if started at an early age? Please do satiate my heart by answering this question. This would really mean a lot to me. Thank you.🙏
Thanks ma'am for these videos, ma'am please make a video on face expressions and mudras, then we will be more grateful 🙏🙏🙏 please ma'am 🙏🙏🙏 it's a request behalf of all 🙏🙏. Ma'am do you delete any video that once uploaded in your channel???
