Original mono mix of the Righteous Brothers "You Can Have Her", produced by Ahmet Ertegun, the co-founder of Atlantic Records and arranged by Jack Nitzsche in late 1963 or early 1964.
Moonglow Records who the Righteous Brothers were signed to, had entered a distribution deal with Atco Records, a division of Atlantic Records.
This particular mix, which is slower than the well known mix, was only ever issued on the Righteous Brothers Moonglow 239 single in April 1965 and on the mono Moonglow 1003 "This Is New" album in June 1965. There is a very distinctive piano heard in this mix.
All subsequent releases of "You Can Have Her" use the stereo mix, even on mono albums, the stereo mix was folded down to mono.
The song itself was originally recorded in 1961 by the great Roy Hamilton, whose manager, Bill Cook, wrote the song.
The track was not originally intended for release and the backing track was used for the Righteous Brothers Moonglow 231 single, "Try To Find Another Man" released in April 1964 in a session produced by Bill Medley and arranged by Jack Nitzsche.
It was only after the Righteous Brothers had world wide fame in early 1965 with "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' ", on Phil Spector's Philles Records, that Moonglow Records who had leased the Righteous Brothers contract to Spector, decided to release "You Can Have Her".
