Walk through of how to hack Rigol DP832 monochrome display to Rigol DP832 colour display Find links below Happy hacking! www.eevblog.com/forum/testgea... www.rigol.eu/En/Index/listVie... diskimager.org/
Worked perfect for me with 1.16 firmware here in July 2023. Upgraded my firmware first and then did the individual upgrades using the Riglol site per your instructions in your other video. Did the color hack last. Pretty dam awesome and a big thank you.
Awesome! Thanks for the video. I don’t suppose you are also able to get 1mA and 1mV resolution as opposed to the 10mA and 10mV resolution on the “stock” 832?
Great video, thank you! After the hack, can you set the screen back to the three vertical rectanges with a colour for each channel, instead of the display as shown in time stamp 11:20 where it's split up?
I have DP831A (I think it is A but it's not printed on the front of the Rigol as such. My Rigol started flashing this message: "CH2 overcurrent protection, disable the output of CH2"! But no output is selected and if I try to use the CH2 output it turns itself off in less than 1 second. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Thanks for your videos!
Hi Tony.. The 'DP831A' is shown on the front of the PSU. Sounds like CH2 has a short, maybe output transistor. It's hard to say, especially without seeing the fault.
I was gonna charge a battery, like I always do and it did not show the voltage of the battery and complained at first of OVERHEATING so I shut it down and rebooted, but than it was complaining about CH2.... I don't know how much these power supplies cost to repair and or where to send it. What I was able to measure under: Power off- no short anywhere. Power on - 5V/5A has 5.1mV; +30V/2A has 1.03V; -30V/2A has-16.8V Measuring for a short - 5V/5A has a short and -30V/2A has a short. Thanks for your help!
@@tonysfun Make a short video for me, showing from switching on the power and the issues themselves. Make video unlisted if you like and put the link here. I can see in seconds what you are describing and more hopefully. The link will be held for my review invisible to others, unless you want it shared. 👍
@@Elecifun Audio amplifier hmm that sounds mighty interesting amigo 🤔 I had a friend years ago that started teaching me a little about electronics. He was 17 back then and I used to visit his place on a regular basis. Anyway he used to show me all his latest projects. One of them was a very complicated class h amplifier not sure if it was a preamp or a power amp. Anyway back then there was no ordering of pcbs. You had to buy chemicals and perf board and etch it yourself. Well that's what he did. After a few weeks he started building it. It was most interesting as he added more and more components to his home built main board. Finally he added the completed board with components to an enclosure. Added the rubber feet, the brushed aluminium case. Light, on off toggle. It look very amateurish yet omnipotent! One day we went into Melbourne to pick up the 16" bass drivers with the mids and the tweeters. It was cool how after weeks he had the speaker boxes assembled with huge holes for the bass drivers. Finally he added the speakers to the boxes and made the cross overs etc. Then that evening he flicked the switch and did some tests. Then he attached a turntable to the preamp and power amplifier. Next thing he put a vinyl record on the turntable. The record starts to turn ... Wow ! The sound was incredible! I'm trying think what he played first?? I think it was Fleetwood Macs "Rumours" album. Wow it was amazing ! It was like we were really sitting in front of a real band. 100W RMS x 2. It wasn't just loud it was very high quality audio. So yeah building an amplifier is a most interesting topic. 🤔 😀 👍
Brilliant, you may like this one. I'm not good with wood (no tools) but I can find a good circuit with plenty of documentation for the whole electronic build. 60 Watt into 8 Ohms 100 into 4 Ohm, per channel. I love Fleetwood Mac especially the Rumours album, only on CD, still its great.
@@Elecifun well I was researching a product for a new project and it said 1/4 W. I thought wtf does this mean? So I looked up resistors and wattages and there it was. Resistors come in different wattages not just resistances. It's like suddenly finding a piece to a jigsaw puzzle. Lol 😆
Hi, no I don't sleep in, Iv'e did that for years and it did not help me. I go to bed early and get up early. I have cats that demand I get up early. I have a disorder which I was diagnosed with in the 90's but only found out about when I moved in here. Stems for crazy upbringing.
