Loved the video of Rigside. Passed by the house I lived with my Uncle & Aunt before I left to work in the Pits in Nottinghamshire in 1967 when Douglas Colliery was closing. (I was a 17yo apprentice electrician). I was born in Douglas Water and lived there until I was 16. I did 6 months initial engineering training at the training centre at Coalburn No9 Colliery from January 1965. Did my underground training at Kames Colliery in Muirkirk Played cornet for Douglas Colliery Prize Silver Band from being 10yo. Also played with Coalburn Brass Band on a number of occassions at Gala days all over the area. I could go on for ages. Keep going with the videos. Thank you.
That’s better watching it on the big screen better than the phone , yes I can see a lot of houses gone in Rigside shire enough and quite a few road changes as well police stations still in the same spot and the shop it used to be called Nelson’s shop I noticed the co op buildings all gone ,no doubt things changed in fifty odd years .nowhere you started the video their used to be a toll house their where they used to charge the horse and carts a fee to travel the roads , great stuff guys keep it going
