I’m only used to listen to SANGER like Whitney, Beyoncé, Chaka, Mariah… and I find Rihanna’s vocals very enjoyable her mid belt are very resonant and strong and her TONE is TOP TIER and so UNIQUE. Her tone remind me of the great Whitney Houston. And keep in mind Rihanna do not care about vocal technic she just sing the way she feel at the moment and it’s beautiful 😍
Her unique identifiable tone is what does it. She doesn’t sound like anyone else. As far as pop stars go, she’s pretty good. Great voice, average singer.
Rihanna is a pretty decent singer (not vocalist) with one of the most unique tones ever and its so beautiful and versatile instantly recognizable. She's truly a icon.
The very first concert I went to cost me 15 euros (16.30 dollars) and it was Rihanna Fenty in the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, 2006. You hit the nail on the head saying Rihanna does whatever she wants. She has some sort of gift to envision and successfully live her career path both within and out of the music industry with an understatedly strong determination. There's the good and the less good moments, but she's always been a girl who's real and worth rooting for and that's why I've been intrigued since day one and never truly let go of her. It feels like she keeps on being a diamond in the rough, but one who can unlock her full potential whenever she attacks a performance head on. After more than 17 years I can honestly say she still surprises me. I'm terrified for the Super Bowl, I'm rooting, and I'm beyond excited.
Ri don't have to be a vocalist but she brings something different to the music and that's what we love about her....Frankly for me a vocalist is my girl Whitney, Fantasia, J hud, kelly Price, Kee kee Wyatt, Tamar, Jasmine Sullivan etc. I call them vocalist because they don't have to do all that jumping all around the stage to perform they can just stand there and sang and will serenade the audience just with their voice alone...Especially, your girl Whitney
Michael is the greatest entertainer of all time periodt even now...Michael has that voice you can listen to all day...I like Gladys knight, Patti label, Natalie Cole artist who deliver soul when they sang, Aretha Frankiln and yes Tina... I like Luther Vandross another person who could stand still with a stand and mic and serenade an audience just with his voice alone...I don't mind a little entertainment but when I am driving I like to hear soulfulness...I can listen to Whitney sang for hours amd never get bored as well as Luther, Michael... For me I can't do that with every artist cause I start to get bored. There are many other artist as well unable to name them all..Celine Deon, Prince..Artist today use a lot of auto tunes and stuff ...
Ok yea when an artist adds choreography and theatrics to their shows doesn't mean they arent great vocalist. Whitney even danced and had a gang of dancers when she toured early in her career. That is what makes artist like Tina and Beyonce so captivating

I love her tone, she's unique. Years ago, I saw a telecast where Rihanna was fronting the guy from Nirvana's band. She rocked the house. I also viewed some concert footage where Jay Z joined her on stage, again, she threw down. You're right, her songs are hits, and, that's a credit to the songwriters, but, it's also a credit to her and the flavor she brings to them.
She’s one of my favorites. I love her style, sound, stage presence & everything(plus she’s sexy as heck) She’s organic. She’s not rehearsed. It feels real & genuine. Some of my faves aren’t great vocalist, but I FEEL them. & that’s more important to me
Love how "not rehearsed" and "organic" are supposed to be good things. You all would rather hear subpar singing from a woman who doesn't trigger your insecurities than have a well rehearsed, seamless performance. It's really weird that you relate to mediocrity. Some of us relate to greatness.

If she ever took singing seriously and was determined to be a vocalist she would’ve even dangerous because that tone and emote is unbeatable. She have a similar resonance and ring in her tone as Whitney minus the technique and consistency. People can say what they want but she’s is a dynamic singer. Her voice sits on top of the music and isn’t over powered.
I like her mid belts the most, her voice is instantly recognizable, and truly has potential to be really good but I honestly don't think she cares to be a great singer.
Rihanna has always been a decent singer with a fantastic uniqueness. However, she's no vocalist and comparing her to that different level is why people think she can't sing at all. If you put her where she qualifies she's better than Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Kesha, and equal to Katy Perry or Shakira. That's no shade to anybody.

She is a beautiful, very talented 14 year old Polish/Nigerian girl who has blown up in Poland after winning season 4 of the Voice Kids Poland in 2021 at 12-13 years old & went on that same year to represent Poland in Junior Eurovision Song Contest, coming in 2nd to Armenia. She was robbed, if you ask me. Anyway, AFTER all that, she was just recently on AGT 2022 & received the golden buzzer from Simon Cowell, she was also just on AGT All-Stars 2023. I would love to see you react to some of her performances. She is a Beautiful Superstar inside & out, with a voice of gold and I think you will really like her. Thanks!
Singing involves many things... pop singers are just lazy, poor in execution because they don't train or study like past generations did... but that doesn't mean they don't have potential. Taking into account that pop is more a product than an artistic work, they always look for pop singers to develop a vocal identity that fits the style of music they want to sell and that they are good interpreters.
She's merely a decent singer, hardly a great vocalist. She depends on choreography and dancers to get by. She recently said in an interview that she wished she could whistle. I wish she could as well. It would add to her ordinary voice.
as a lot of artist do to this day...A vocalist for me is Whitney who commanded her audience with her voice alone and didn't have to booty shake around stage or have 100 dancers...It was just 1 mic and beautiful voice that serenade the audience song after song with her voice alone...A lot of artist are unable to do that..

@@ifluvinguiswrong Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle are vocalists. They rely on their voice to put on a great show. Rihanna is a showgirl when it comes to attitude, selling herself to engange. Maybe that's the reason she's extremely successful. That's a guess.
