This is honestly my favorite Rihanna song. Many people view the meaning as nothing more than sadomasochism, but this entire composition is a metaphor. She's singing about the relationship between her and the media. I was laughing my ass off when the public thought the "Princess of the Illuminati" was a subliminal message hidden in the video. The headline was intentionally put there to demonstrate how the media is always out to get her and she likes the pain of how nasty the media is. There's so much symbolism in this video believe or not. S&M deserved a grammy.
