Following a surprise appearance on tour with Soft Cell, who’s song Tainted Love was sampled for her song SOS, Rihanna took a short break from music in late 1985. Her return in 1987 with the massive chart topper, Umbrella, showed that no break would slow her momentous career trajectory. It soared to #1 on radio and the Billboard Hot 100. Her first performance of Umbrella at MTV Video Music Awards in late 1987 captivated audiences around the globe.

This was a huge hit in the summer of 87 where every radio station has been blasting this non stop.while smashing MTV. Her rivalry with Madonna and Cyndi Lauper was sealed by this song. Good times. Jokes aside, I enjoyed this remix. Helpse to get away from the pandemic.

Takes me back to the mid 80’s when Rihanna and Michael Jackson reigned over the charts and clubs with their sweet beats! And all those boxy cars with windows down at the traffic lights with these sounds rolling out, cruising down the coast, my teased blonde highlighted hair blowing in the wind. Good times!!!
