Wow, this anime went south in a hurry. We have an old lady nearly killed from talking to the dead (thankfully she had that ball with her!), guys on jetpacks, cyborg slaves, something about space travel, God's Will, healing powers, a levitating wrestling arena, and... M. Bison.
There's a lot of pacing in this storyline, so basically what happened is that Riki-Oh (the main character) went on this entire quest to reunite with his brother Naichi (the main villian), so he goes to prsion for assualt after beating up a mob boss. He then gets into battles against strong prison inmates and prison wardens, a big fight breaks out between the prison inmates and riot police break out, kills the chairman (the guy who runs the prison), busts a whole through a brick wall, then escapes prison. He then continues his journey to find his brother, only to be met by a guy named Takou, who later ends up getting killed by Washinaki, who runs an underground fight club where people fight to death, and Riki-Oh ends up winning his first fight, only for his opponent to be killed by Riki-Oh's brother Naichi. When Riki-Oh calls out his brother, he gets knocked out and wakes up in a hotel, where he meets a cyborg who fights in Washinaki's fight club just to get his revenge on humans for enslaving him on a nuclear transplant. Riki-Oh and the Cyborg end up fighting in Washinaki's fight club with the cyborg coming out on top, but is later met by Naichi who almost kills the Cyborg, and the fight between them ends right there. The Cyborg then realizes that he's a human after watching himself bleed from Naichi impaling him. He then tries to kill Washinaki (because apparently he's his enemy and not the one who almost killed him). The cyborg gets killed by Washinaki, and Riki-Oh is told how he's apart of God's plan, which is why he has the star of David on his hand, and he's told that he'll survive after the entire world is destoyed, and he'll be reborn into a new world along with his brother Nachi who possesses the swastika on his hand. Riki-oh ends up fighting Washinaki, only for him to get his arm torn off by Naichi. Washinaki then tries to burn his whole fight club down with a bunch of people including Naichi inside. Naichi survives the explosion, and kills Washinaki. Riki-Oh and Nachi start fighting after Nachi lost his sanity and destroyed an entire city, and Nachi eventually gets killed by Riki-Oh, which is the end of the movie.
Nachi: You left me to freeze to death while playing hide and seek, and you never looked for me? Riki-Oh: …sorry... Nachi: Well, I had a lot of bad stuff that happened to me and because of it, I had to become a harbinger of a cult to deal with those issues...because of what you did! Riki-Oh: I said I was sorry!
I find it ironic that Nachi could arguably be considered this world’s equivalent of Broly, and Riki just happens to be voiced by Bin Shimada (Broly’s Japanese voice actor).
@@amuroray9115 Even WIT and Netflix could be forced to make changes, considering the amount of violence and the religious themes would cause an uproar.
This reminds me of the anime Dark Warrior, in that they both seem to be heavily influenced by Fist of the North Star but scaled down to a more humanizing sort of drama with realistic pain and emotions. In the Hokuto world, it's all about genetically perfect martial artists with superhuman abilities enacting body-horror massacres on legions of cannibalistic punks only to then cry manly tears about something their brother said to them: that is like textbook example "call the SWAT team" psychotic and not always pertinent to the viewer's own emotional vista. Seriously though FOTNS is obviously more polished but D Warrior and Riki respectively have a lot of heart and show human weakness in a more easily relatable way.
Riki-Oh 1: "A bloody movie where everyone is imprisoned against their will." Riki-Oh 2: "A bloody movie where everyone is imprisoned against their will."
I feel sorry for everyone who didn't read manga , this ova didn't show umibozu , big fat ugly bastard that eats people alive , his fight with Riki was a masterpiece
@@allen62 This feels way more rushed and left out of many parts from the manga. To be real though, there is no way the Cape Town arc can fully covered in a 45 min ova .
To be honest the story falls apart more and more as it leaves the beginning. It takes a steep nose dive after the end of this movie, and that's why I am not surprised there is not more to the anime.
Mistral Vazquez I can imagine. I mean, compared to the first anime, this one was already downright terrible, although with still some redeeming points, barely. So if there was to be more, I would expect an even worse of a mess. Sad.
Really? It seemed like it got better...I mean the first arc is a bit of mess compared to the others. That said I think the Cape Arc is my favorite but I liked the other two that followed. I'd say the comic is most consistent in throwing crazy shit at the reader.
This anime is a complete nonsense and i love it! AhHahuahaHa Comparing the first OVA with this there is a huge hole in the story. I will download the manga looking for answers.
This anime is so disturbing yet amazing. The religious Symbolisms are over the top too, WOW Rocketeer Knights?. Coliseum and all included, THAT IS HIS BROTHER?. Force user too?. This is like Mortal Combat?. Jesus, the brutality and cruelty gets worse by the minute. A Dragon Ball Battle between the brothers?. That anime was tragic, very hard to watch.
Starhunter Terra You should check out the live-action movie of this made in Hong-Kong,it features the first story-arc,where Riki-Oh is in prison and it's hilarious.(completely over the top gore stuff)You can find it here on youtube,in english dub.
If any of you are wondering about the swastika, understand in Asian cultures that is a Hindu symbol and later on it became a Buddhist symbol it originally means good luck and prosperity not the Nazi party originally.
Also, kickass outro song. Very Dio-esque. The only problem I have with this movie is that some of the subtitling is sloppy. But otherwise, definitely both thumbs up. Also, gotta love how when that general's head starts to bulge out it looks like how in FOTN after Kenshiro punches someone and they don't die immediately he does the "You're already dead." thing.
Riki Oh 1988-1990 vs Capcom Street fighter 2 1991. Besides the many characters from Hokuto No Ken characters(Fist of the North Star) that Capcom got the idea, Riki Oh 2 is prob how Capcom took the M.Bison(Vega) likeness.
