I owned this bus in Sweden some years in the late 80´s . It was used as a schoolbus from the beginning. the Engine was changed three times until -62 when it was put in a Barn where it rested for about 20 years. very good to see it running again
That's such a cool story! My dad has gotten me hooked on volkswagens. In fact he has a beetle, a converted beetle to a sandrail. 1 bay 1950s (which is spotless). A split screen and the holy grail the 23 window
Gotta love doing the interview through the safari windows. Perfect decision to go with the Porsche drivetrain. Rikki, you seem like a great guy, and I hope you never sell that beauty!
Rikki James haven't seen that bloke in years or decades, last time I saw Rikki in that Bus was midway through a power slide as he was drifting it round an oval track with a lot more sideways then forwards and tons of dust and gravel, he had it well under control and with a lot of cheering from the spectators. Hope your doing well Rikki!...
wow tu combi esta muy bonita, i´m Edwin Camacho from México, i like your bus it´s very AWESOME i have 2 new bugs last editión 2004, the last one vw bug who was made in México but your samba is.... hoooo my god for another world, all the best for you and your family from this beautiful country... MY MÉXICO...
Somebody asked what the music was in the video, I believe it is "Camp Africa's" new single, as I hear they are jumping on the band wagon of re-union tours, I hear "My New Career" live is the B-Side.
Are there any videos detailing all the elements of this bus? I am intrigued by the switches on the dash and in the cab and that big scoop above the windshields.
Awesome! There's another great VW Video series called SEEVWTV, look them up on youtube. A lot of cool interviews there. This is shot way better though!
Reminds me of the '55 I had, same color scheme. love the Sealing Wax Red. I'm not a fan of the slammed look. I think it makes the bus look like a cartoon, and not in a good way.
Luvely Bus Rikki, there is much cooler VW meets in the U.K. One day I will have to travel there. I am one of the VW Camper contingent, but also drive a very rare (1:9 left) Bischofberger Kranich I Star 1979. Ever think about restoring your luvely?
